Cratter Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 I recently got off cigarettes after I noticed a spot on my forearm that felt constantly sunburnt. I played Dr. Google and read it could be related to Carbon Monoxide poisoning, and since cigs contain CO I figured it's about time to quit. I had tried those cigalikes (like Blu) for a bit when they first came out a few years ago but they weren't very satisfying (not cheap, didn't last long: juice and batteries, poor throat hit) so I went back to cigarettes, but noticing the health hazard this time being more determined than ever, I did some research and bought a Kanger Subvod Starter Kit....and a week later quit tobacco all together (finding a juice I enjoyed: sweet tarts, bubble gum rather than "tobacco flavor" really helped too). After doing research, Ive learned Vaping has become a victim of its own success. So many people have made the switch that the industry has ballooned to about $10 Billion with Vape Stores and "Vape Festivals" popping up throughout the country. This has caught the attention of the FDA and as of Monday no new Vape Products or Eliquid can not be introduced to market (without approval by the FDA which experts estimate at $1,000,000 per product) and all current products have two years to get that same approval (it's estimated the majority of the products will vanish as most are small businesses, not "big tobacco", and don't have that kind of money). The "sunburn" spot on my forearm has been gone since I made the switch. 1 Quote

I find it strange the govt is trying to regulate vapping when they let the food supplement industry run wild with the FDA turning a blind eye. 2 Quote

TBR Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 The best route to go is quite tobacco altogether and remind yourself that you are literally too much of a fool to live if you start up again. I know from personal experence that after five days it gets easier. . Quote

(Real world evidence not FDA)....people eventually drop the amount of nicotine in the juice til they are vaping zero nicotine and then eventually quit. Quote

Cratter Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 Was surprised to see GF has three vape shops. Found out my buddy is trying to quit tobacco using an ecig also. Gave him a bunch of flavors I had laying around, as one is more likely to quit when they find a flavor they enjoy. Any who, for anyone interested the Right to Vape Tour will be in Fargo today at 5. Cratter Posted October 14, 2016 Author Posted October 14, 2016 It'll be interesting to see if the tobacco* sales tax increase will pass in North Dakota. *also taxes "ejuice." If it passes could see more people switching to vaping. As a pack a day smoker would be saving about $175 on average every month. Quote
TBR Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Cigarettes are Exhibit A as to why the legality of substances has just about everything to do with money/politics and virtually nothing to do with public health and societal well being. Quote

One is reminded of how NY tried (or did) ban "large" drinks. (One can just buy two...costing the consumer more money). Sugar/Soft Drinks is definately on the radar as the next money grab for governments. Which reminds one of this famous quote: First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me. Quote

TBR Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 The prohibition of hemp, once promoted as an economic base by B Franklin, has an interesting history. It has a lot to do with the promotion of fossil fuels. Quote
