fightingsioux4life
The question is, what will NHL teams do if their stars leave their teams for the Olympic games? You will not see the Washington Capitals cut Ovechkin if he leaves the team without permission to play for Russia in the Olympics. Same with the Pens with regard to Crosby and Malkin. It will be interesting what happens between the NHL and the NHLPA on this.

Recent statements by their higher ups included quite pointedly the fan polls (not sure how scientific those were) of USA and Canada fans, which showed majority against. If players leave anyway, certainly the NHL will play the card "giving the fans what they want".

Yote 53
Key phrase from the article: "In the end, money speaks louder than anything else." So a bunch of 3rd and 4th liners of Russian heritage are defecting to the KHL so they can play in the Olympics, big deal. That just frees up more NHL spots for North American born players to fill, and there won't be any drop-off in quality either. The big stars are going to stay in the NHL no matter what, because of the money.

cberkas
Nike you had one job to do and that is to make a jersey as good as the 1960 team jersey, or better yet make a 1960 jersey. At least they are better the "Bills" USA jersey and the World Cup of Hockey jerseys. https://www.sbnation.com/nhl/2017/11/1/16589882/2018-winter-olympics-hockey-team-usa-team-canada-jerseys

FGHTNSX Hawkey14
The new jerseys are SO bad. The Americans two toned jerseys are reminiscent of the Tennessee Titans, Canada's look like they overlaid the flag of Arizona on a Maple leaf, 7 of the jerseys are recoloured copies with a different country written on it, with some in a local language, and others in English, Switzerland's remind anyone else of Swiss Army knives? Why do they change every country's sleeves so slightly? No waist or sleeve stripes? Oh yeah, tackle twill? Forget it. Flicker film and screen print it is! Thanks a lot Nike. I can see you put a lot of effort into these!

I guess I should be disappointed with the jerseys same as Bettman has disappointed me for years of his stupid decisions.

Yup, although there will probably be some North Americans from Europe, and some college players that would be overage for the WJC. At least it's an even posing field now.
