17?! Wowza, that's absolutely incredible when you consider a college hockey career only lasts 4 seasons!

I may be wrong with this, but I believe in the Cherski era NCAA players only played for THREE seasons as freshmen were ineligible for competition.

After OD's hat trick, I went to the Sioux Shop to get 33% off a new hat. Went to check out and was told the NCAA made them stop that promotion. Apparently it promotes an individual player, which is against their rules.

I would think that the Sioux Shop would be able to get around a possibble violation by always saying "If a UND player scores a hat trick, all hats are 33% off" as opposed to "Since (player) scored a hat trick, hats are 33% off."  Which they did.  That's so dumb.  It's not like O'Donnell would get a percentage of the sales on hat that night!!  Not surprising I guess!!

"If any player scores a hat trick within 1000 feet of the arena shop between 7 and 10 pm this evening ... "

Guys. Quick. A six year old just potted a hatty playing shinny over at U Park! :D

Ah, Brian Williams......almost 30 years and still the best player Fargo has ever produced.

I would think his linemate Chris Jensen must have had one at some point.

Good call....Just found it. He had one his last game of his college career, against the Badgers (1986).

From the 1998-1999 season:

Lee Goren at St Cloud in a 7-4 win:

Jeff Panzer's 4-goal, 5-point night against the Gophers (5-4W)

(Followed famously by a 3-goal rally the next night to win 6-5.) The Sioux actually played the Bizon in 1948 in an "official" hockey game? It wasn't actually a club team for NDSU and it counts in official scoring stats for the guy who got the 8 goals for the Siuox? Never knew.

Lee Goren vs Denver in an 11-4 win:

As an added bonus, no hat tricks but the box score from perhaps my favorite game that season, a 4-3 win at Duluth.

* Game tying goal at 19:36 Jay Penzer from Dave Hoogsteen and Trevor Hammer with the goalie pulled

* Game winning goal at 19:58 Adam Calder from Jason Blake

Not a hatty, but I was at a game at the Old Ralph around 1998 where Sioux D-man Brad Williamson had 6 (yes SIX) assists! Tried to look it up on USCHO, but it would not let me access the 97-98 season. (did not find it under the 98-99 season)

He's not under the hockey records for most assists in a game but Himmelright in 1977 and Roche in 2000 are the only ones listed that had 6 assists and a defensemen.

Milton "Prince" Johnson had 6 points in a period in 1950 it doesn't say if any were goals or assists.

GDPritch that game against the Bison was a 17-6 win.
