Hi, dropping by with some info on this. Lucia did an interview with the Tech Hockey Guide guys on their podcast back in January. He confirmed that Lindenwood (and by extension Maryville) isn't in line to get into the CCHA for the foreseeable future. The primary stumbling block is geography. The three UP schools (I've also heard Bemidji) have zero desire to travel to St. Louis. It's a 14-15 hour bus ride for those schools (including stops) or a $30k charter. Lucia also went on to explain that 8 teams is a good number for the league, there were positives to adding Augustana that were unique to that program (that Lindenwood is missing), and that the CCHA and Atlantic should not be looked at as orphanages for independent teams. Could any of this change? Sure never say never, but it would have to be a pretty significant event. To speculate, maybe one or both of those schools proposes some crazy deal similar to what Sacramento State offered the MAC for FBS football (pay a ridiculous up-front entry fee, pay 100% of travel costs going forward, forgo any cut of league revenue) or maybe a school like Mankato or BG gets poached by the NCHC and Lindenwood/Maryville step into the opening(s). Until then, it appears the door to the CCHA is closed. Edit: Aside from me speculating on alternatives, I'm quoting Lucia from the Jan podcast. Quote

College hockey needs a new conference to facilitate growth so as far as I'm concerned, the more indipendent schools the better right now. Quote

Mankato was just wishful thinking as it's a favorite road trip with our group. Quote
