watchmaker49 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 USCHO women's D-I pre-season rankings are out. North Dakota at #5. That's nice to see. I may not like watching women's hockey but I do respect how hard the gals work though. Quote
talksalot83 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I think the team is underrated. Unless the team ends up being inconsistent like last year. Bring on the season and good luck to the ladies! Quote
tnt Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I think the team is underrated. Unless the team ends up being inconsistent like last year. Bring on the season and good luck to the ladies! They need a little more help from the defensive end and they could take a major step. With a healthy Jordan Slavin and LaShomb potentially being a bluechip, I think they can take another step or two this year, and contend for the National Championship. Quote
crb1 Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Anyone know why Candace Molle isn't on the roster this year? She was a junior last year if memory serves me. I hope she didn't get hurt. She was somewhat of an experienced d-man (woman) Quote

Slavin was out last year and was the team's best defensive player. I believe they have Frozen Four potential this year. Quote
siouxnami Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Don't forget the have another olympian coming on D too. Quote

I hope she didn't get hurt. She was somewhat of an experienced d-man (woman) I think there are some issues with the roster in general. It says that Layla Marvin is a redshirt freshman and she redshirted last year. When I went back to last year's roster, it doesn't show her as a red shirt, it just says "freshmen." I'm not saying that's necessarily the reason for Molle not being on the roster, but I think there are some issues. Quote

A student is a freshman for their entire first year. If they are being redshirted, the redshirt can be pulled at any time during the year. So they are considered true freshman. Second year students are sophomores in class, but are redshirt freshman if they were redshirted for their first year. Quote
sioux7 Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Just with the addition of the Dufault kid alone will make them a contender. She is the most dominating girls/womens player I have ever seen play and will make an immediate impact. In additon, if Shelby Amsley-Benzie can get the starting nod, look out! She is rock-solid. crb1 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 It also appears that Madison Kolls is gone as well. I believe she transferred to Minnesota Duluth. Quote

Pony1976 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 http://www.mngirlshockeyhub.com/news_article/show/158331?referrer_id=115187 Article on another future D. I wasn't previously aware she will also redshirt as a freshman. Quote
crb1 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 One of the women players tweeted a picture of the Seniors and I didn't see Molle in the picture. It looks like she may not be on the team this year after all. I certainly am not prying but I hope she didn't get injured. Quote

I fail. Quote

She was somewhat of an experienced d-man (woman) I heard Idalski say that she was ineligible and that they were working on getting her back eligble. Quote

That has to be a first. Quote
Pony1976 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Maybe for UND...but not unprecedented throughout D-I women's hockey. Being ineligible that is. Quote
talksalot83 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I heard Idalski say that she was ineligible and that they were working on getting her back eligble. I believe this is a likely explanation. Quote
crb1 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 We are less then 7 hours away from game time for the ladies. I think this team is going to be pretty good. These girls seem determined. Quote

Goon Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I had the opportunity to talk to the Twins on UND Media Day. UND women's hockey; ready to make an impact nationally Quote
crb1 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 You going tonight? we sure do plan to attend. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 I'll be taking the short walk to the REA tonight to watch the women play. The biggest thing I will be looking at is who will be between the pipes. I have a feeling that Amsley-Benzie will be the real deal and finally give UND the much needed consistency that they need at goalie, which could mean the different between another 1 and done run and a potential national title.
