sioux2013
Another important game against a Summit League team. Western Illinois gave Michigan who is ranked in the top 20 all they could handle and only lost by 4. So obviously this team can hang with a top 20 team even though they have an RPI of 302. We need to keep our turnovers down in this game and hopefully sink a few more three's than we have lately.
Teeder11
I love checking out future opponents Websites, message boards, etc. Here's a gem from the Western Ilinois Athletic Dept. game preview. I don't know if they just did a bad cut and paste job and forgot to omit old information from a previous opponent or what. A LOOK AT NORTH DAKOTA: The North Dakota Fighting Sioux, who will join the Big Sky Conference next season, enters the weekend with a 3-1 record...The Sioux most recently played host to Montana on Wednesday with sophomore Aaron Anderson scoring a career-high 20 points, and four of his classmates joining him in double-figures as UND (3-1) knocked off the Grizzles (3-2) 88-81 in overtime at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center...After their first four games, the Sioux are led by sophomores Aaron Anderson and Troy Huff who average 17.0 and 15.3 points per game, respectively...Anderson also leads the team with an impressive field goal percentage, having shot 62.5 percent from the floor...Huff leads the team in rebounds per game with a 8.0 average...As a team, North Dakota has outscored its opponents, 313-268...The Sioux have shot 44.2 percent from the floor so far this season, 29.9 percent from behind the arch, and 68.3 percent from the stripe...North Dakota is coached by Dr. George Barber (Asbury College ‘86) who is in his 13th season at the helm. who? bincitysioux
It's a bit early to be putting much stock into the RPI rankings. Regardless this is a game that North Dakota should be favored to win. Now the guys just need to execute. If they limit turnovers, they would have walked away from Montana. The same will be true tomorrow............................
darell1976
UND plays 6 games against the Summit League including a home and home with WIU, and SDSU so lets go 6-0 and show Douple what kind of team he lost out to.
sioux2013
Hopefully another big crowd. Hard to believe the attendance was only 1700+ against Montana cause it seemed to me the biggest crowd we've had at the Betty for several years but it was supposedly the same as other games. Looks as if Western Illinois plays slow down due to only low 40 shot attempts by both them and Michigan. Thats not many shot attempts for both teams. If the Sioux get a quick and big lead they will not be able to slow it down. Go Sioux
FargoBison
Their offensive style is as close as you can get to the four corners offense with the 35 second shot clock. They can be tough if they are hitting their shots, obviously they can get some baskets by lulling their opposition to sleep. Molinari is a great defensive coach though. sioux2013
Sounds like we need to find a way to speed things up. Saw enough of a team running the shot clock down to 0 several years ago when UND did the same thing. Boring. Thanks for the info fargobison. The Sicatoka
WIU's previous opponent was Greenville College. http://www.goleathernecks.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=12000&SPID=4947&SPSID=49948 Guess what Greenville's coach's name is ... http://www.greenville.edu/athletics/mens/basketball/index.dot Ah, the dangers an SID faces in using last week's copy and just "updating" it. Hambone
Sounds like UND is down early 25-10. Haven't been listening or anything, so not sure what's going on.
sioux24/7
Just some poor play by the Sioux. Not many of their shots are going in. Its now 17-

The Sicatoka
What happened? UND tie and then WIU hit 3, or classic BB where 0:19 seconds takes 30 minutes and 20 free throws.
Teeder11
Free throw woes continue for the Sioux. Sioux with a 16-2 run in the last 5 minutes of the first half to close a 17-point deficit down to 3 at the half. Game could have gone either way. Payback will have to come in Macomb. Focus on Jamestown now and we'll get back on track. Go Sioux!
SiouxCrew11
Man oh man we are still a young team. You simply cannot continue to commit 20 turnovers and shoot 50% from the FT line at the D1 level. We were lucky to beat Montana and we should have lost to this W. Illinois team by much more than we did. The fact that this team can play so poorly and still win games/keep games close is a testament to how good they can become. But we certainly have a long way to go. GO SIOUX
UND92,96
Really disappointing performance today. Three of UND's top six players struggled, and scoring against the zone continues to be a problem. If Western Illinois finishes in the bottom part of the Summit as expected, this just isn't the type of team you should lose to at home. First home non-conference loss in just over a year. If Western Illinois finishes in the bottom part of the Summit as expected, this just isn't the type of team you should lose to at home. First home non-conference loss in just over a year. Western Illinois did not play a zone but a tight switching defense that gave us fits the first 12 minutes of the game. Webb and Schuler kept us in the game the first half as the starters struggled. Mitchell came out strong in the second half and the Sioux held a couple short leads. We continue to take horrible shots by the same players and each time it leads to easy buckets by the opposition. We are still growing but the same mistakes continue to happen. Its up to the coaches to discipline and make some of the players realize the importance of every possession. We need to work on good open shots and our defense breaks down alot with penetrating guards. Its early but this is a game we should have won.
