PCM
Listening to Lucia on PA and Dubay, it's interesting how he avoids every opportunity to say anything complimentary about the new Engelstad Arena or UND fans. If that's not motivation for some great crowd atmosphere tonight, I don't know what is.

roper1313
I think PCM means that Lucia has shown no respect to The Ralph and Sioux fans. His favorite team to play is Michigan because they are a Big 10 school. Same old, same old!! PA and Dubay have been showing lots of respect to The Ralph and to the UND program. Overall a good show today.
TC_transplant
Lucia has never said anything bad about the Ralph, but why would you go out of your way to praise a rival's facility? Does Blais praise Minnesota's TV contract? I'm sure Blais would love to hand a flyer out to recruits with a Lucia quote: "It's the envy of college hockey. The greatest facility in the world!" PCM
Lucia has never said anything bad about the Ralph, but why would you go out of your way to praise a rival's facility? Whenever I've heard him, Lucia is always evasive when asked about the Ralph and never directly answers questions about it. He doesn't have to go out of his way to say anything nice, but when asked a direct question, it'd be nice if he gave a direct answer. He never does. The interviews with him are like this: Interviewer: Don, it's really cold today in Grand Forks, isn't it? Lucia: We play in lots of towns that have cold weather. Sometimes it gets cold in Minneapolis, too. Interviewer: But even for Grand Forks, you have to admit that it's pretty cold for this time of year, right? Lucia: I remember one time when we played in Houghton and it was colder than Grand Forks. Interviewer: Don't you think that it's unseasonably cold here? Lucia: It gets really, really cold in Alaska. Interviewer: Never mind. Does Blais praise Minnesota's TV contract?Who knows? I've never heard anyone ask him about it. I'm sure Blais would love to hand a flyer out to recruits with a Lucia quote: "It's the envy of college hockey. The greatest facility in the world!" As if Lucia would ever say that. Besides, why use a quote from Lucia about the subject when so many other college coaches and NHL coaches have already said it?
The Sicatoka
Besides, why use a quote from Lucia about the subject when so many other college coaches and NHL coaches have already said it? "My dad said this is the nicest facility in North America." -- Brady Murray speaking about Ralph Engelstad Arena. "Dad" is the head coach of the LA Kings. Yeah, I know, in court that's "hearsay" evidence.

LOL - very true, TCT I lived in Mpls when Mariucci opened and I don't recall Gino, Sauer or anyone else being required to praise the facility which, at the time , was the finest in college hockey. I think the fact that Lucia is evasive says alot about what he thinks about the facility. But he could call it a dump; hell, he could truly believe that. It still wouldn't stop me from getting a shiver up my spine every time I walk through the door.
PCM
I lived in Mpls when Mariucci opened and I don't recall Gino, Sauer or anyone else being required to praise the facility which, at the time , was the finest in college hockey. No coach is required to say anything about the new arena. That's not the point. Lucia bobs and weaves like Sugar Ray Leonard every time the subject comes up. Of course, he's free to do that, but it gets to the point where it borders on the ridiculous. This season and the past two seasons, I've talked to nearly every visiting coach the Sioux have played. If asked, they'll tell you flat out it's the nicest college hockey facility they've ever seen. Most of the time, nobody even asks because the coaches volunteer unsolicited comments. But Lucia is the lone exception. He continues to act like he'll turn into a pillar of salt if he makes any comment the least bit positive about the new REA. TC_transplant
Do you lie awake at night, tossing and turning, wondering....what does Don think of our arena? what does Don think of our fans? what does Don think of our program? what does Don think of my hair? Two scenarios: Coach A on an opponent's arena: "It's a nice arena. We get to play in a lot of nice arenas in the WCHA: Coach A on recruiting: "You win some, you lose some." Coach B on recruiting: "That recruit probably made a mistake by not deciding to play here". I'll take Coach A's evasiveness over Coach B's arrogance every day of the week. I think that was more of a toung-in-cheek jab than it was meant to be an arrogant statement. Something tells me Blais and CO. at least TRIED to convince Ryan P. to come to UND, which they didn't do with Grant. Blais even admits to making that mistake. And if ANYONE is arrogant, it is Donny L. himself. Of course, if I had back-to-back NCs, I might be arrogant, too.

I didn't realize Blais was evasive, but I always knew Lucia was arrogant. In fact, at times he is so arrogant he is convinced HIS hair is cool! Well, and that these games keep him from watching the new "Sex in the City" DVDs at home.

He's partly right. But a team can only dig the hole so deep before it has to start worrying about missing the playoffs, and the Gophers haven't shown any signs that they're done digging. DamStrait
Sioux fans make sure to call in this week on the PA and Dubay show. Just because yellow vermin apologists act without any class is no reason for Sioux fans to do the same. If the boys get it done in April, there'll be no need to say anything, the banner hanging in the REA will say it all. In the meantime, we should quietly enjoy the outcome of this weekend and the way the boys are now playing. Hopefully it is a sign of things to come. They are fun to listen to when they do talk football. But come on to say some of the ridiculous crap they said in our arena last friday was really obnoxious. Marry-ouchi west please. I bet they won't even talk about it this week. One idiot Gopher fans retort this past week was so over sensitive that he was yipping on how the the Gophers will still have more wins in our arena. Some peoples lives must really be miserable. I honestly don't care how we do against the Dirty Gophers the rest of the year because we got the split and anything more is a huge bonus. But UND took it too the Gophers this weekend. Also UND took the arena back no more Marriucci west, its our F**king house. This series was a lot of fun to watching one reason was all of the Gopher fans whining about the reffing and then ever funnier was the Maroon and Gold fans leaving our arena early both nights. I am convinced that Dubay is a horses a$$, his stupid comments about the Sioux and I imagine he will say something to the effect that the refs blew the game and UND was lucky to win both games. How about pretty boy Vanek not scoring one point all weekend. I loved it...
PCM
They are fun to listen to when they do talk football. Do they know any more about football than they do about hockey? I recall them saying that it made no difference whether San Diego started Flutie or Breez against the Vikings on Sunday. So what happens? The BC midget shreds the Vikes through the air and runs for two touchdowns.

They probably do not seem as obnoxious when talking about football to Vikings fans. The only difference is that PA's passion is football, and Dubay's is college hockey, and Dubay is probably more obnoxious and even less knowledgeable than PA. CoteauRinkRat
It will be a tough day for PA and Dubay. Both will be recovering from a tough weekend for the Vikes and Gopher hockey. It will be very interesting to hear what they have to say about all the losses.
