CornellHockey
I'm a Cornell hockey fan and have heard some rumors that we might be coming out there next season. Does anyone have any knowledge of your schedule for next year?
nodak hockey fanatic
we usually won't get a full schedule until mid-summer, but once non-conference games are scheduled, i know they usually release those dates. haven't heard anything about cornell, but would be a good series, we could see sioux defector in nash (whose brother plays there also i believe). i've heard he is quite talented. i know we play in the mich., mich. state tourney next year, but that is all i have heard. Does anyone have any knowledge of your schedule for next year? It is possible. Will your school play us even though we are Hostile and Abusive? CornellHockey
Riley Nash is very talented. He's our leading scorer as a freshman, although that doesn't say much since we have very few upperclassmen, and we're known as a defensive team. His brother is a defenseman who is also talented, picked as all-league even though he missed the first half of the season due injury. And yes we don't care about abusive and hostile, although I prefer hostile. Thanks, I'll check back to see if any new info. You need to get more emoticons. Check out eLynah sometime. See you later. siouxfan123
If I recall correctly, it also is true that all of our Hockey East contracts are over too, which means we need to start looking for some new ones. I like the agreement that we made with BC and Northeastern over the past 4 years or so, a two game series in GFK for each and we go out there twice for a game against each of them in both trips. I was thinking a BU and Mass.-Lowell would be a good combo. Lowell is about 30 miles from Boston and the MBTA has a commuter rail that goes out in that direction from Boston for the fans who like to travel. I also think it would be fun to have one road NC trip like that that is a Friday night/ Early Sunday afternoon game with UND offering a air/hotel package so the team/fans could charter a flight. Boston is just too much fun not to root for a free day. Also with the new Bemidji State agreement with the WCHA, will UND give BSU a rest this next year and find a different NC series of games? Sodbuster
I also think UND would be wise to schedule the Electoral College next fall.......I think they will be preoccupied.
nodakvindy
Since the current PWR doesn't really reward schedule strength, the smartest thing would probably be to schedule some Hockey East patsies like Lowell and Merrimack (only about 15 miles apart). That is also a huge benefit in common opponents if you sweep, since all the Hockey East teams would have to go 6-0 against them to equal us. Similarly, finding out the weak sisters that are in the Michigan-Michigan State cluster would be very beneficial for the pairwise. Of course, I don't really want that. I like that we will go anywhere to play anyone. This year the top 3 teams in Hockey East, the second place team in the CCHA and the CHA leader. Next year at the GLI versus the current top team in the nation. If the hosting Cornell rumors are true, I would mind adding a trip to Orono to play the Black Bears. Haven't yet gotten to Alfond and I'd really like to go there. And a trip to Lynah for 09-10 would be pretty cool.
HaksHomey
What are the odds of a trip to Omaha? -- the old NCC rivalry renewed on ice... I'm dreaming of course.
fargosioux
I'd love to see a series in Omaha. That would be a fun weekend.
siouxfan123
The Maverick Stampede would be great for UND, then you would only have to spend one valuable NC game against the CCHA (just as long as U of Manitoba isn't a filler again in the tournament, who wants to go to a tourney and play an ex game?). Plus UNO has a home and home "rivalry" going with Mankato that would probably have to be suspended (you don't want all of your NC games to be against only one conference). Also there is a X-mas tournament, the Lightning College Hockey Classic, in Tampa that would be fun to go to as well. Plus if I recall correctly they had a good turnout in Tampa for it too (around 8,000).
mikeypat15
Mavericks play at the Qwest Center pretty cool arena. Also close to a casino.
siouxnami
I started filling in stuff about next season. Note we currently have 19 forwards, 10 defensmen eligible... Also I think we have 6 open games on the schedule. I don't think we have any reciprocity games left, but could be wrong. We get an extra series because we play in Alaska. I also believe we have home and home with BSU. http://wiki.siouxsports.com/doku.php/2008_..._fighting_sioux
keikla
What are the odds of a trip to Omaha? -- the old NCC rivalry renewed on ice... I'm dreaming of course. I went to school in Nebraska for four years, and they never came down there. I would be very bitter if they chose to do so only after I moved away It's all a conspiracy

OhioSiouxFan
I live in Toledo Ohio, where they're building a new hockey arena 20 miles from Bowling Green State University (CCHA) and Michigan that's 40 miles away. Here's the link to the new arena (yes, selfishly, my office is directly across the street - LOL): http://www.lucascountyarena.com/ Perhaps an ice breaker tourney could be put together with BGSU hosting a WCHA, CCHA and east team? Oh, and the new ECHL team in toledo is the Toledo Walleye. www.toledowalleye.com
