  1. Have to disagree big time with your last statement. College baseball is probably the 3rd most popular sport nationally in college. All NCAA tourney games are broadcasted live on ESPN LIVE and hundreds of games are broadcasted weekly throughout the season. The College World Series is a big fricking deal (way bigger than frozen four). Last year alone UND had 3 guys sign pro deals and had a 2 hour free infomercial on ESPNthanks to Jeff Campbell. They were also the talk of the country in college baseball after taking it to USC this year. Lots of exposure for UND at a very low price and plenty of upside for exposure long term. Women's hockey nationally meanwhile has 25-30 schools in the country that play it, hardly any games on tv, awful attendance, and really high budget costs. UND had 3 of the top players in the WORLD a few years back and not many people seemed to care. im not a women's hockey hater I just don't see a whole lot of upside with it. Baseball didn't cost UND much and provided great exposure and exposure potential.
  2. Can a moderator clean this crap up? I come on here to read about UND sports. Carson Wentz, nice story, good kid, but I know where I can read about it. I think the purpose of this thread is for people like Will Ratelle, Weston Dressler, and other former players not Carson Wentz.
  3. Couldn't agree more. I'd through ND in on that and Penn State has a lot of good things going with their program. I would miss a few of the NCHC schools but we could still do non conference games with them. The thought of taking in a road series at Michigan, Mich St. Ohio St Wisconsin, ND, PSU, or UM and also catching a home football or basketball game would also be cool. UND could use the Big 10's money and resources and the Big 10 could use UND's fan base, hockey tradition, and attention UND brings. Seems like a win-win for both. Hope it happens.
  4. If UND can get a cut of that Big Ten Network money it should take Faison about 2 seconds to say yes to an offer. Would miss the NCHC schools but would enjoy the schools in the Big Ten and we can still schedule SCSU and Duluth in non conference. If this deal could also get a few BBall and FB games on the Big ten network or against Big ten schools it becomes an even bigger no brainer.
  5. Don't disagree. If you started the guys with the most talent/potential/ability I'd go Hooker, Baker, Crandall, Seales, Drick. Doesn't really matter who starts, should be a lot of talent all around. Expectation should be at minimum top 4 finish, pushing 20 wins, and postseason. Goal should be regular season title (guaranteed NIT), 20 plus wins, NCAA tourney.
  6. Tough loss but fun game against a really good team. This team really grew this year. Next years team should be the best team on paper UND has had in some time. Pretty much bring back all production and add an all conference level player in Wheeler Baker. We'll have 7-8 guys who can drop 15 plus on any given night. Starters - Hooker, Crandall, Baldwin, Drick, Avants Bench - Baker, Seales, McDermott, Shanks, Cashman, Collins. Guessing the two freshman will redshirt although I've read real good things on the big from Washington. Big summer for recruiting too. With the core class of Crandall, Seales, Baker, McDermott, Avants, & Collins having 3 years left this team should be in the mix for BSC titles and NCAAs the next 3 years. Need to try and land 2 high impact guys to fill Q & Baldwins spots after next year.
  7. These might be some names to watch in ND. Tyrell Harris - Dickinson Chase Teiken, Brandon Metz, Zac Willis - West Fargo Colton Cook - Minot Hayden Reynolds- WF Shey Dillan Jepson - Killdeer Jackson Hankey - Park River Wyatt Carr - Hazen Calen Schwabe - Thompson Jake Ihland - Richland Cody Mauch - Hankinson Hofer Twins - Larimore

    2016 Season

Great news if true . Grady is a serious talent. Speaking of Grady rumors I was told by a high school coach Bubba and staff were trying to get Elijah's twin brother Darryle to come to UND this fall. I didn't think it was true but maybe it was. Can anyone confirm? I don't know what happened with Darryle at Mary but the coaches in the Mon-Dak game said he was the best player on that roster and unblockable all week in practice. They couldn't even double team him and Couldn't believe he wasn't going to UND or NDSU.
  9. And just think the potential best one (Wheeler Baker) is sitting out this year. Team is playing great and they are fun to watch. Pretty crazy how much production freshmen Crandall, Avants, McBuckets, and Seales are giving this team. Drick Bernstein is also extremely underrated for how much he does. He is a double double machine, can handle the ball, pass it and has a decent mid range game. He has been outstanding. Oh and he's just a Soph. Crazy how young this squad is.
  10. The last 6-7 games this team has been playing good defense and sharing the ball better than any UND team I can remember the last 10 years. Next 3 games are huge. I think to often we look ahead at things and this team can do damage this year, but next year this team could be super special with the addition of Wheeler Baker. Baker is a all conference caliber difference maker and we return everyone minus Hobaugh and Benton. Baker will also only be a Soph. How loaded is that class? Baker, Crandall, Seales, Mcbuckets, Avants, & Collins. lets get Weber tommorrow.
  11. Man that stinks if true. Hope everything is ok with the young man. I know nothing at all but if it's a case of providing for his family he had legitimate nfl potential. They pay pretty well there. Best NFL ol prospect we've had since Kuper imo. Think he could've made a lot of money on Sunday's assuming he worked hard and stayed injury free but if the heart isn't in it then it isn't in it. Kids like Grady don't come out of ND often. Good luck to Elijah but I will really miss watching him play. What a pleasure to watch that kid play.

    2016 Season

There is a guy named Dale Lennon that meets those qualifications.
  13. Ben is a QB all the way imo. I think if he was 6'4 200 lbs he is a scholarship kid but he is 5'11 180 lbs. plenty of short QBs in college and the nfl that have had success so a low risk high reward deal for UND. Good arm, smart and he can run. Only negative is his size. Glad we are giving him a D1 chance. Also saw the Delbrune twins from Moorhead chose MSUM. Was hoping we could get them as PWO kids or partials.
  14. i have seen Ben Bolinskie's name dropped a lot as a potential PWO QB, but do you know if we are looking at Matt Bye from Moorhead? 6'4 200 runs a 4.6 40 and has a pretty decent arm. He is also a 3 sport stud and really good basketball player similar to Heidelbaugh last year. A lot of room for growth with him with that frame and I think he could convert nicely to TE if QB doesn't work with his height and speed ala Seth Nichols. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2879742/matt-bye Wouldn't mind seeing a few spuds in this 2016 class.
  15. Nice to hear. Think we should always take 4-5 ol in every class. Do will still have a shot at Bacon from Hastings? He would be a great addition to the 3 ol commits already but he has a lot of offers.

    Lennon

Is SIU still paying Dale next year? Have him help with the football team in some capacity and have him help the foundation on phase 2 of the HPC. Heck throw his name in for UND president. I'd take a leader like Dale as UND prez.
  17. I saw that full interview on the sports Sunday show. I was rather impressed how composed he was considering the interview probably happened right after he found out. Each interview I see Bubba have in the face of adversity (tough situation, tough loss, nickname, etc) I am more impressed by how he represents our University. He mentioned how he's going to tell his guys he loves them because they bust their tales for him and that life isn't always fair and at UND we're developing more than football players we're developing young men. That's the type of guy you want your 18 yr old son to go play football for folks. I really think we have a home run hire in Bubba and his staff is great as well.

    2016 Season

Good synopsis. Connor O'Brien wasn't mentioned at ILB and I would expect him to start alongside Rich. He did very well once Rich went down this year. Also heard Jade Lawrence at OLB looks good. Stetson Carr as a possession WR maybe as well. We should be good and if the staff hits a few home runs like last year and adds some more guys for depth we could have a pretty stacked team. Also worth noting most of the talent next year will still be in the Soph and Jr classes. Super pissed about today but excited for next year already.
  19. I thought we'd be in for sure with a win. The decisions made today by the committee go completely against every selection they've made in previous years. A complete robbery to keep a UND team out of this years playoffs. We were one of the hottest teams in the country and imo could've did some damage....now we'll never know. We should be loaded next year so I hope the returning guys use this as motivation and fhawking roll everyone next year. Shame that guys like Ratelle, Anderson, Adler, etc had to go out like that.
  20. said around signing day UND got the best player in ND last year not named Johanesson and Grady might even be better than him even. The scary thing with Grady is that he is already playing at an all conference level and he hasn't even hit winter weights. Has a chance to be really special. Santiago has been a really impressive true freshman but Grady has been just as impressive to me. side note - I also thought his brother would've looked good in green and white. The coaches in the mon-dak game said he was the best player in practice all week. Anyways I don't see him on the U Mary roster, wonder what happened there. Maybe Mary wasn't a good fit and we could get him to come walk on here to play with his brother.
  21. how about the next 2-3? Our freshman and sophomore classes are absolutely loaded with talented guys already contributing in big ways. On D next year we will lose our heart and soul Rattelle but because of all the injuries UND will essentially be returning 11 starters on d with plenty of reserves with starting experience. Offense will need to replace 3 ol and adler but the online is starting to build depth. Grady and Stockwell both have next level potential imo and will be two of the best tackles in the conference. UND should have the talent to compete for conference titles the next few years.
  22. 2017 kid. Guessing he will be a top priority next year. Also a very good basketball player. Will probably have a choice of playing either in college. Would love to see him at LB or TE in green and white though.
  23. they will without a doubt. Just look at NDSU when they snuck in that one year b/c they had a win over Kansas. Kansas was one of the worst teams in the country that year. Southern Utah 2 years ago is another example. The beat a middle to bottom sun belt S. Alabama team and that was the reason they got in. The committees history has shown FBS wins carry a lot of weight no matter how good the FBS team is. UND will jump any team with seven wins that doesn't have an FBS win. Still need to win Sat. so I'm just gonna cut the playoff talk until then but to me it's pretty clear that a UND win gets them in. check izzo's bracket. He is usually spot on when it comes to this and he says a UND win gets them in as well.
  24. it would be better for seeding if EWU loses but we get in ahead of them no matter what. Just look at the resume, they would be the exact same except UND has an FBS win. UND wins they are at worst #4 in the BSC and #3 if Montana loses. IMO UND just needs to win and they will be in. See my previous post for explanation. WIN AND IN!
  25. Worst UND can finish if they win is the 4th best resume in the BSC. They will jump the loser of SUU/NAU and will be ahead of EWU no matter what. I realize EWU is a bigger FCS name but even if they win they have the exact same record as UND without an FBS win. IMO UND is ahead of EW no matter what if UND wins. if Montana also loses UND could get to the 3rd spot in the conference. Either way I do think UND is in with a win. Across the country UND will jump any 7 win team without an FBS victory. I haven't looked at that but if we have the 3rd or 4th best resume in the sky we will be in, and we will have that with a win. Big Sky will get a minimum of 4 teams in, bank on it. lets beat poly and then hopefully host a 1st round game. Dom izzo's brackett on the bison media blog lays out this situation exactly. Win and in folks, let's get in these playoffs and see what happens!!
