  1. UND should be top 8 no problem with a UCA loss. I see the MVFC chest pumping down in Fargo for baby brother SDSU has already started if they beat UNI. Really? B/c they beat a below .500 UNI team puts them ahead of UND? The same UNI that lost to USD who UND beat the same UNI team who lost to Montana who lost 4 games in the conference UND just ran through. Oh and the same SDSU who is 8-3 vs. a 9-2 UND when UND has a better record vs common opponents. The MVFC tunnel vision really gets old.
  2. I think your expectations are way off. Tom Miller said on the radio UND has never had over 10k for a November game ever. My guess is yesterday was one of the best non NDSU regular season post deer opener crowds ever if not the highest. So you can either piss and mown at not having 12k or you can see the best non NDSU November crowd ever with a 30% increase over last years last game. To me those are some pretty big positive steps Bubba is making on the preception of UND Football. He is well on his way to making UND football games an event and the "thing to do." Takes time and you don't just snap your fingers and get 12k at games in November when it hasn't been done before. Take a chill pill and see the HUGE positive steps Bubba is making here. Your pot shots are about as bad as Kolprick and Dizzo when they talk UND. Can't get a positive UND comment in without some side negative comment or pot shot. Kolprick is more worried about our "ugly grey pants," than giving any positive thoughts to an undefeated FCS big sky team in his coverage area. Crowd was great yesterday and we won the big sky. I don't see any reason for a UND fan to be negative today.
  3. This is like when the media says we had a soft big sky schedule b/c EWU and Montana weren't on it. Montana is awful. 5th or 6th best big sky team. They should not get in over poly Weber or UNC if they all are 7-4 and if they do it's only because their crowd will bring in big revenue. Very bs if that happens. We played all the top Big Sky schools except eastern and eastern didn't play us either so why isn't their schedule soft? We deserve a top 8 seed IMO.
  4. Really great crowd I thought. Don't know the exact number but there must been 4-5 false starts by NAU from crowd noise. It got really loud in there today.
  5. He is from Moorhead. Think he's done really well in JC.
  6. 100% agree. I'll take an extra bye week if it means playing in the Alerus Center at home with students back on campus vs. traveling to Brookings or Missoula in round one. You guys are crazy if you don't want UND to get seeded. Would be huge. Need to win Saturday to have a chance.
  7. You are right that this would be UNDs best scenario. Even better would be EWU losing twice but I don't see that happening. UND needs to win out for any of this to matter but the best way to describe it is that there are about 14 teams vying for the top 8. Any of them losing and UND winning out is good. Therefore no matter how EWU vs Poly shakes out it'll be good for UND because one will lose.
  8. This is spot on. JMU and Richmond also play each other. If Poly wins out they'd also be in the mix. Think that's why I'll take EWU winning next week B/c they'd have to lose 2 to drop out of top 8. Loss for Poly and they are out of top 8 consideration. Let's just win our two and see what happens.
  9. A couple ways to look at it. Biggest thing is if UND is 8-3 or 9-2 they are in. I 100% guarantee it. 7-4 and they are bubble. With that said at 9-2 I don't care if we are the auto or not we will be in the 6-11 range nationally and will have a "shot," at a top 8 seed and bye. That would be HUGE. If Poly closes out with the same record they'all be in that conversation. A poly loss knocks them out. Main point is whether we are big sky co champs or not who cares. 9-2 has a shot at a top 8 seed. Way bigger deal than whether we are co champs or get the auto bid. Check Don Izzos top 8 this week and my guess is Craig Haley has us top 10 in his power poll. 9-2 and we have a shot at top 8.
  10. Would agree that the tackle on Anderson was dirty but so was the dive at Arnells knee in the UND game last year. didnt hear NDSU fans or media in an uproar or asking coach about that one though.
  11. http://www.fcs.football/cfb/story.asp?i=20161016110638235043304 More national talk on our "easy," schedule. Funny no one is mentioning how EWU and Montana don't play us. All about how easy of schedule UND has because we don't play them. Have these guys looked at who the Griz have played vs. who we have played.
  12. In addition has anybody taken a look at the Griz's schedule? How can anyone look at UND and say easy schedule whem Montana has a schedule like that so far?? There only loss is to a team we beat and there best wins are a 2-4 UNI and 3-3 SUU. Their out of conference is a joke other than UNI. UND should be ranked ahead of them but won't be because their name is Montana.
  13. Studsrud has been playing at an all conference level the last 3 games. 50/71 734 yards 6 tds 0 ints That's not even bringing up his running. I would argue he is our most important piece to the team right now. Maybe Reyes but Keaton is really making us go.
  14. Fully realize there is a lot of season left but at what point does the rhetoric out of Fargo and everywhere else change about UNDs schedule? Come Monday there is a chance Stoney, USD and Poly are all ranked. SUU was ranked coming into today and Weber will probably be ranked in 2 weeks. All of that and the comments from everywhere is UND hasn't played anyone. well, if the playoffs started today and people started looking at common opponents UND would be sitting just fine. UND>Poly>SDSU>NDSU
  15. I like Mauch and think he could play FCS. I think Teiken would be one hell of a fullback at UND. Not sure if he has the twitch for LB or the speed for RB but I could be wrong. Reminds me of Kyle Norberg our starting fullback now. I really like Dillan Jepson from Killdeer. Great highlights at RB but has the size & twitch to play OLB at UND IMO. There's clips of his senior year so far on hudl and he looks a lot like Jade Lawrence outta high school. Just a football player and killdeer kids are tough as nails. Hankey from PR and Hofer twins from Larimore are worth watching. Aaron Knutson from Central is on a really bad team but he's 6'4 220 & a great athlete. He could be a sleeper to watch. Would take a chance on him at PWO in a heartbeat.
  16. 9-2 - in, Big Sky champs, good chance for top 8 seed as we would have been 2 plays away from 11-0. 8-3 - in, no question. Bison fans are idiots if they don't think an 8-3 Big Sky team doesn't get in. 7-4 - 50/50 depends how much quality our losses have. 6-5 or worse is out. Let's not kid ourselves we aren't Western Illnois & this isn't the MVFC even though the Big Sky was better head to head this year. lets go for the first option and leave no doubt.
  17. I don't think SDSU or Western Illnois should be ranked ahead of UND. Maybe I'll give Western the benefit of doubt because they are 4-1 with an FBS win but looking at common opponents. UND beat poly. Poly beat SDSU who kicked the snot out of Western. Also no way in h*## UNI should be ahead of UND at this point. In the end it doesn't matter. If UND can win out & win the Big Sky I think they'll be ranked top 10 and potentially be in line for a first round bye and some home playoff games. Team needs to keep taking it day-by-day. Fun for fans to speculate though.
  18. Really could care less about polls but they seem to mean something to playoff committee. If UND wins tonight NO poll should have UNI or SDSU ahead of UND. We will have the same or better record and have wins against teams that beat both of those schools. I'm sure there will be 7 MVFC schools in the top 15 though. Such a joke.
  19. I'd take 4-5 OL in this class total. Biggest area of need for depth right now. Going to have a lot of guys graduate after 2017 and need guys ready to go for 18. That will be this years redshirts and this recruiting class. Huge need and 1-2 won't cut it. Should have at minimum 4 OL in every class regardless of depth but right now it's needed more.
  20. Think you will. Like Parkers Pros mentioned, 6-5 220 can run and super athletic. Heard he's one of the hardest workers and smartest kids on the team. How many practices have you seen him at? It's very telling to me the coaches have only recruited him and Bolinskie the last two years. The coaches see him everyday and are really high on him and his potential. He hasn't even scratched the surface for how good he could be. Only one year in the program coming from Rugby at the hardest position on the field. hopefully Studsrud keeps performing and stays healthy and then after two more off seasons in the weight room Heidlebaugh will be a monster when he starts for us in 2018.
  21. This game is huge for a few reasons. #1 - conference title race. if UND wins they will be in the early drivers seat with the remaining schedule IMO. #2 - playoff implications. With UND beating USD and Poly beating SDSU at home if we win it could be huge come playoff time if we are say 7-4 vs a MVFC 7-4 team. We don't play Montana but Poly beat Montana and Montana beat UNI. If we win and are 7-4 vs a SDSU or UNI 7-4 I think that would give us an edge based on common opponents and the fact the Big Sky beat the MVFC in head to head games this year. Hopefully we are 9-2 or 8-3 and we don't have to worry but this game could be big for that if we are 7-4.
  22. I would agree putting Santiago in the slot when Brady O is in at RB is a good way to get your best players on the field at once. Jon didn't have his best day today but he'll bounce back. one other thought was where was Cloyd at TE. If we are burning the shirt lets get him in there. Love the way the D secondary is coming along. Also, we have a lot of Freshman talent playing well on D right now. Like Wilson and Bennet on the D line and like Hunt at CB. Love Love Rodgers and Lawrence at LB. Good guys to have the next 4 years.
  23. I don't know if it's been mentioned but the youngest and probably most talented Carr brother from Hazen committed to Mary for basketball. Great athlete and at 6'4 thought he would make a great TE or OLB at UND. Stat line from last week. 3-4 134 yds passing and 2 tds 4 carries 207 yds and 3 tds Also a pick six
  24. I don think any UND fan has a problem with WHockey and I think most would like to see it succeed assuming we sponsor it. The problem is how much money UND is spending on a sport with no real upside. Womens hockey has - only what 35 schools that actually play it nationwide - very little fan support at UND and nation wide as evident by attendance numbers and TV. - UND has had countless Olympians and some of the best players in the world and no one goes. Can you imagine if WBB had Diana Tarasi and Lindsey Whalen how many people would go. - National title game just got on TV this year and it's like 3 weeks tape delayed. WBB and VB tourneys are all on national TV. Even women's softball tourney is on ESPN. All of that and UND spends 1.5 million on it. I think if the budget was 600k this is a different conversation but the overall budget is tight and you have a sport costing UND that much with no return and no real potential for great exposure moving forward. i could list all the growth potential UND has with WBB and VB but I'll save the typing and assume most here get that. Whether WHockey stays or not there is no doubt in my mind UND is better in the long run trying to make VB a top 25 program and WBB a national top 25-50 program. SDSU has done this in BBall no reason UND can't with its tradition and history. Those two sports should be 1-2 in the hierarchy of women's sport funding.
  25. If this is the case drop Whcky, and give WBB a fat budget with good amenities. They have had success, had seasons of drawing 3000 plus fans a game, bring in good revenue for a women's sport and have won 3 national titles and the list goes on. After seeing those numbers on women's hockey I don't see how anyone with any common sense doesn't cut that. Hopefully some on this committee do. I have confidence in Lowell Schweigert, after that we'll see.
