Most revenue sports bring notariety to a school and attract potential students. Plus they give students fun games to attend and reinforce school spirit. I see non revenue sports as those used to help comply with title 9. I don't know why conferences mandate certain sports even if they are non revenue.
-
If non revenue sports raise money from private sources to support the team the. I'm all for it. Do we really need a non revenue sport if it is not required by a conference? would adding lacrosse really be worth the cost just to play Denvers and possibly expand our east coast market?
-
UND does not need anymore sports. Track and xcountry are requires for the big sky so there is no way around that. We need to look into dropping all non revenue sports that don't bring in money or are not a requirement of conference affiliation. We need to drop swimming and diving. Period. I don't care who the assistant athletic director is.

Looks like the Goofs want him or at least some of their writers think so. Plus their coach visited him.

Why don't they host one in Orlando? That would be the best family destination. If they hosted one in San jose that would also be very fin for the family as the Bay Area rocks and is not too far away. i don't know why Vegas wouldn't be at the top of the list. Great entertainment and cheap flights!

How about the big sky drop all sports that do not bring in fans? I'm tired of seeing dollars spent on sports that have no attendance and bring no revenue.

We need to drop the target center while we have a chance. The x is a real hockey arena with good ice, boards, and site lines. The premier college league tourney deserves a much nicer venue. I don't see how we wouldn't find new major sponsors and we know St. Paul would take us anyday. I guarentee we will see the NCHC make a move after 2018.

Attendance for the afternoon game this year was pretty good and almost as many as a home game. Just think if UND would get to play in a night game for once? Attendance would be way higher than 11k. The odds UND makes it every year is very high. Home sites would ruin the tourney and attendance would be lower because frankly no one has the same level of attendance as UND .

Buy your season tickets now because in a few years they may not be so easy to get! I can't wait for the fall!

Williston and minot do need some kind of petroleum or chemical related plants. Neither town has that sort of large industry to support the local economies. Ethane plants or something similar would be a great job generator and help in the slow oil production times. The thing to stay away from is refineries especially the small ones that can't compete with the largest refineries. We are seeing what happens when you build a small refinery in Dickinson that can't produce diesel as cheap as a large refinery. The state already has plenty of supply of refined products and any new refineries will have to be as efficient as those suppliers.
-
The oil prices sadly will not be staying as high as they are now. The huge inventories and production keeping pace with demand will not allow a long term price increase. The wild fires in Canada are the main reason for this price increase and once they start back up we will see the supply rise and prices fall. There are some that say ND may see production fall to 600,000 barrels per day before the price rebounds to stimulate more drilling and fracking. Some are predicting that future nd production may never grow over 1.4 million per day. This hopefully sustains a healthy oil economy with no booms or busts.

There is no reason to move the tourney from the twin cities area because the attendance is great for the NCHC. The WCHA and big ten need to use campus sites because the attendance is so poor in a neutral location. The question is how large will attendance be if it was in Sioux Falls ? We should secure the xcel energy center and only rotate with the target center as needed.

Those guys need to see tape of him on special teams. What a beast! I'm so pumped for the next season !

The state fair board wouldn't budge on sharing boards ads and concession profits. Both sides need to come to a compromise. There is no reason the HS team should practice all week there and then pack everything up for home games at the Maysa. It's a real shame because the all seasons has new boards, ice system and seats. Maysa would never be able to support a DI team no matter how much a guy can dream. They have not even raised enough money to pay for the first set of bleachers. As someone said before, usual minot politics. Always leading from behind with the drive to fight for the #4 city in the state title.

I wish I could get one of those matte helmets in the mini size or even the current football jersey. Are these ever going to be for sale or are we going to keep selling the old styles?

It's finally good to see Ratelle getting the props he deserves from multiple teams. I really think he is the type a guy we will see playing on Sunday's. I hope the underclassmen take note that all the hard work you put in can really pay off and give you a chance at the highest level. Way to make UND proud Will!

UND may never win 5 titles in a row so it is not fair to compare anyone to that run. NDSU success will drop down eventually and UND is getting better every years as they should have made the playoff last year. It will be coming in short order where the state has two successful programs for the residents to cheer for .

Does the hockey buzz help football recruiting or hurt it

Bubba has proven to be a great leader and I have a feeling even better things are to come. I hope we have a great spring ball and start the anticiption to the fall! -
Feathers..... Offensive..... Sigh

If we need to cut a lot of money we might as well have slashed men's and women's swimming at the same time. I'm not a huge fan of college sports that don't have many fans attend their events. I think it is a huge burden on the student fees and the tax payer to fund these unpopular programs. These are reasons why college debt is so high.

The jam describing our run to number 8!!!! -
So berry had nothing to do with these recruits? He prob had much more contact with them than Hak when they were being recruited. Have we not seen a transition in the type of players in the last couple years. Yes Hak did start the change but it wasn't until recently. if you read my whole post you wouldn't see it as a pot shot.

Football is coming back to its glory years of a packed Alerus. New rivalries start to grow and success is getting bigger every year. I think hockey's success is isolated from affecting football as their own teams set their popularity. The night game scheduling does hurt football in late October and November but it does help out of town fans make it a full day of Sioux games in one saturday. -
Hak had the team heading in the right direction. One of Hak's big problems was he was so reluctant to change the type of play and players the Sioux had historically recruited. Berry's leadership took the team to the next level as his coaching style and philosophy really stuck with the young group. I thank Hak tremendously for all the winning years under his leadership. It's not easy being that good for that long and always have a winning team for the fans. I think Karma rewarded Hak also this year by his NHL team making the playoffs. The real question is would he rather make the playoffs as an NHL coach or win a national title with the Sioux? I guarantee that Hak was as big of a fan as the rest of us and could not be any happier if he was still the coach or not.

This is why you should never drive a Prius without a ton of UND stickers on it. This never would have happened to a grand marquis
