Wasn't this cleared last season, when CBSS released the exclusivity clause for games they dont pick up?

Do they even care about the team? What a horrible attitude to have.

$$$ ASU is a big school. Whether or not it is a "niche" sport doesn't matter. The student population there is so big niche doesn't really apply. Then you have to consider in the big scheme of things, smaller teams and schools get to say they're playing big name teams like ASU and whoever to attract more average fans. The hope is also that the ASU athletic department would it make it worthwhile (and prove they are willing to make sure hockey tries to be a non "niche" sport on campus) by packaging deals in other athletic events if not jsut cash sums. And of course like you mention, PAC12 hockey. Even if they go to form their own leauge, the NCHC will have a pretty substantial buyout in place. Or else youre getting some big name shcools. And with such a cost prohibitive sport like hockey, AD's arent going to try to make it a half-assed jump and are going to try to make sure their school is relevant (See PSU.) And something else to think about is, besides geography what does Mankato bring to the NCHC? Not name brand recognition. Not previous NCAA success.

I'm wondering if Haviland is getting onto thin ice this season. Granted, I never liked the man and think he's a total jerk, but CC might want to start looking around if Haviland has the sorta season he's had the last two.

Our AD might want to enlist the help of some graphic design students to make that a bit sharper then.

The hawk head by itself, when used on both sides looks like Hermes' winged helmet. Not a big fan of that for football players.

I'd love this idea. TTD is fantastically produced, and I believe that's through the marketing department. Someone might want to hit them up to see if we can get a series like it.

No kidding. Schools should make it a big thing to try to draw interest, but totally missed the mark here.

If the NCHC gets ASU and the choice between Kato and BGU I bet they add BGU. Its a bigger, more well known University *and* has won a D1 title. Plus it will appease Miami and WMU.

Wow are we loading the schedule this year. Hopefully we can get a win or two out of it. But playing better competition helps the girls be better players. Hope they can turn this season into a really good year.

Young guy here(21), so take my knowledge with a grain of salt, but the only one and done I know of is Belfour.

Have to remember, more than half of the school caught the tail end of the Mussman era and the first year of Bubba ball, but still not great. Up until the end of last year, football was still largely ridiculed (from what I saw as a student.) Not to mention, not a whole lot of people found the ground and pound style exciting ( i know I heard multiple times "when are they gonna throw the ball???") I would expect that football is a big thing on campus next year with all but one class not knowing Mussman and those dark years. I know my group of friends is super pumped.

Just so you all know, NoDak nation is changing up their buba bucks for this year. It's gonna be a $5,000 scholarship at each game. Students will have to be present at the drawing in the 4th quarter to receive it if they win.

My thought's, and as someone who is not from this area, is I do not want to see Bemidji and Mankato in the NCHC. Yes it might not drive Miami and Western away, but it wouldn't make them happy. Neither of those teams would represent the NCHC well on the national stage and are much better suited for the WCHA. Bowling Green has at least won a national title makes the MAC schools happy and brings an FBS school to the conference. Couple this with ASU and I think we are much better off than we are now currently (and we're doing just fine.) Rememebr, Mankato and Tech were perennial bottom feeders until the big dogs of the WCHA left. What makes you think they wouldn't return to the basement in the NCHC? None of this has to do with the "National" title in our conference. And this absolutely does not mean we should add an Alaska school.

Do have to say though should we not be making the tournament almost every year? We don't - not because we cant beat the Minensota's or Wisconsins,(which we do occasionally!) but because we blow non-conference games against teams like Syracuse or conference games against St. Cloud and Mankato. We don't because we've let Bemidji get ahead of us in conference and slid backwards in the last three years. Those reasons, coupled with the NCAA's is reason to hold suspicion about the coaches ability. We show up in "big games against big opponents" but have an obvious tendency to under perform in games we should be dominating.

I'm a huge AF fan, and I agree. If they look to get out of the AHA, the WCHA is the only option and they'd probably be middle of the road there.

Nope. Not only does the NCHC not care about helping the WCHA, this wouldn't benefit the NCHC AT ALL. No way do they take an Alaska team unless something really big happens with the Alaska programs over the next few years to really warrant it.

I'm fine with SCSU being in the NCHC due to how they have performed since been invited. However, this conference was founded with the idea of using schools that put hockey as their number one priority right? SCSU counts to that. However I don't think that applies to WMU ,who being FBS, is a much bigger school. So the question is, was this conference founded for hockey priority, or biggest FBS/FCS with hockey? I'm not going to get into a debate over Mankato's skill level on the ice but by far hockey has to be their number 1 program am I correct? Personally, as a fan who doesn't have much connection with Mankato, I would rather see ASU and Bowling Green join, despite the fact that neither are hockey oriented schools.

Don't they replace the ice and paint every season?
