You make a good point about the "tens of student fans" lol. I was just thinking to give a warning so the overaction/fake outrage that is so common nowadays wouldn't occur. Like when a total of 200 people attended UND women's hockey playoff games, but thousands were faux upset over dropping the program.

Maybe the athletic department should have written an open letter to the students before the season began stating expectations for attendance numbers and sticking around the whole game. And if they failed to meet those expectations, those prime seats would be sold to season-ticket holder‘s next year, and the student section would be moved to the end. And point out to them the end is where the student seats are in nearly every college football stadium.

I agree and have heard similar sentiments. A lot of people/students don’t like the logo, but still want to support UND so they sparingly buy some of the hawk gear.

Is there a breakdown of student fees that designates x number of dollars towards football seats? Reducing fees by the difference in value of midfield seats vs end seats would seem to be an equitable solution. (I don’t mean dollar for dollar reduction; but rather some percentage break down based on the fraction of their student fees based on football seats)

I see ndsu was up by 3 scores with two minutes remaining and decided to run a fake field goal on 4th down. They later punched it in for one more touchdown in the final minute. Classy.

Talk about clueless. For one thing, apparently you are unaware of any of the turmoil caused by the NCAA regarding the nickname. I don’t blame anyone for deciding to retire the nickel after all the ridiculousness from the NCAA about Native American imagery. But perhaps the more obvious point to bison fans should be the fact that through negotiations at the time you made it clear you refused to set foot in the Alerus Center to play a game, ever. Yet you wanted to keep playing for a trophy?

I agree. Anyone with a functioning brain can differentiate between cheers/jeers directed at an opponents’ school vs directed personally at a group of people.

My point, which sailed way over your head, was that in regard to the Sioux suck chant, you said “this is not only taking a shot at a university logo but also a group of human beings.” And yet, in the same sentence even, you use your term “ Siousie sniffers.” Isn’t it interesting how you are able to differentiate between the Sioux suck chant- which You deem to be derogatory towards the Sioux people, yet in your mind your constant use of the word Siousies is evidently not derogatory towards them?

So in summary of all the comments on here, if we just get better players, a better coaching staff with better schemes, a better practice facility, a better strength and conditioning program, and a better nutritional program, we’ll be set. Sweet!

It’s not just the cost of rebranding that they should be looking at. They need to consider the potential increase in visibility and merchandise sales over several years that a better, more unique logo could provide.

I think moose was mentioned briefly in one of the threads during the nickname debate/debacle. I would’ve definitely been on board with that choice once no nickname was eliminated.
