I feel for you. Back in 2001 my boy had a spring league hockey game the same time as the national championship. It isn't the same watching it on tape when everyone else in the house already knows the Sioux score two goals with an open net in the last mintues to take it into overtime only to lose the game. You are truly caught between the rock and hard place. You don't go to the play, however, and you are a 'dead man walking'.

If he did indeed have a nervous breakdown, I question the wisdom of having him play so soon. Although i'm no mental health professional, I've had a close family member have one and she took much longer than a week and a half to come to an emotional level of just dealing with day to day issues, let alone the pressures of a national championship run. And I pray for his recovery. However, if he just tweaked after losing a hockey game, The kid is very immature. I've seen squirts and peewees throw fits after a loss, but never a kid at the A bantam level or older.

I just enjoy watching great goaltending. First Iwabuchi, then Goehring, and now Stuckinfargo. Next year I'll try to bring a couple of defensemen, too.

I was talking to Mama Vanelli, she said her son's broken nose has healed pretty well from the beating he took last fall. Those knowlegeable Gopher fans I sat next to at the Final Five last year were griping about how lazy one of their forwards was. I think his name was Vanek. Is he still in hockey? And I remember a kid named Kessel from the Madison Capitals, he played against my son's Bantam team. If I remember, he was pretty good. I was wondering if he had enough talent to play DI back then. Haven't heard anything about him since. He's not on the Sioux recruiting list anyway, so maybe not, eh. Is Jan trolling around the Sioux website again?
