  1. Like the comments made by Davidson’s new AD. Davidson moved up to the A10 and hasn’t become a wall flower, despite being one of the smaller schools in DI. His goal is to make DU a power in the A10 in all its sponsored sports and beyond, considering its midget status. They have met with success beyond mbb. Hope Chaves follows the same path. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/college/article224639960.html
  2. California kids can hardly get into UC-anyplace now, as they are too exclusive. Boulder and Fort Collin get some California kids, and they are welcome as they pay higher tuition and help the Boulder and Fort Collins numbers. Their only public alternative for a degree is some Cal States, which have much reduced value depending on the degree. All of them don’t qualify for AAU reduced tuition in Colorado. If Northern Col is not looking and trying to get those students, they are incompetent. It only an hour further to ski. Alabama has more than half its undergrad enrollment from outside the state, like Illinois, Texas and Georgia. Saban is attracting them to the hellhole of Tuscaloosa, allowing the school to more than double enrollment and prosper.
  3. There is more growth coming if the jobs stay in Williston as there is much bigger classes coming according to Williston birth records. (Granted, some of them are from town further north.) Williston might have to add 400 student additions to their HS every two years. The local legislators are trying to get the state to pay for more expansions. https://www.willistonherald.com/news/why-is-williston-high-school-overcrowded-already/article_bf06fb8e-2027-11e9-a7ea-178dfd8c4a80.html If District 8 doesn't merge with District 1, then there would be more bickering among themselves. District 8 should build their own HS but wouldn't be paid for under the proposed bill.
  4. Was referring to a program like Vermont. Also a hockey school, that doesn’t necessarily choose alumni. Vermont has dominated America East this century, but did nothing for 20 years after they went DI. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermont_Catamounts_men's_basketball USD and NDSU have had up and comers. They either leave quickly or crash out and get fired.
  5. But the women’s tennis pounded DIII Carleton 8-1. Think women’s tennis is almost fully funded but men are not.
  6. Do average margin count against St Cloud in pair wise, or only the final result?
  7. CWU has finished a $10 million renovation of its football field, making a separate track and field oval and ridding the football field of it. Strange how a DII team that hardly has opponents in the GNAC in football would spend millions on making fb facilities better. Next year, there will move up to DI like Dixie St -likely a revised Big Sky. https://www.dailyrecordnews.com/news/year-in-review-no-cwu-shows-dedication-to-football-with/article_4ce9f894-6fc5-5b29-bfc5-044318e9ce3a.html
  8. Would be just like Jones to scrape into another dance in his last year. Pretty telling he wasn’t offered a higher paying job with a more prestigious program after the last one. But those are the cruel facts of a low major program -win and you lose your coach. What this program needs is a lifer that would stay for family reasons.
  9. So we are stuck with you saying schools are beating down the doors to get in the Summit and play in Brookings. It is always fun to find you justifying your theories. You have said Fort Wayne is comfortable in the Summit, so guess that is changing? Before that, they didn’t want IUPUI and now they want the HL tournament on their court. Before that Oakland, and before that Valpo. No one wants in the Summit to the east or south. West is the only direction left and very few have broached that. For some reason, that is forbidden fruit to you.
  10. The whole league is down and out. Except maybe for NKU’s fan base. What would PUFW give to have Konchar on that floor? That arena is on the Indiana State fairgrounds near IUPUI. Didn’t realize the ECHL’s Indy Fual plays there. Never considered IUPUI as a place that hockey can lay down roots, so guess it’s possible without a new arena.
  11. The Horizon League is moving it’s tournament to IUPUI starting next year. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/college/2019/01/25/motor-city-sadness-horizon-league-pulls-plug-basketball-tournaments-detroit/2678057002/ So PUFW wants to go to Sioux Falls annually instead and doesn’t have an incentive to switch leagues according to bizzon and jack posters.. Detroit didn’t turn into an Arch Madness spot like St Louis.
  12. There are at least two more DII schools that have completed DI feasibility studies that look to be DI soon: CSU-LA and West Georgia https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/dixieathletics.com/documents/2018/10/11/DSU_Feasibility_Study_10_1.pdf. Page 41 of Dixie St’s DI study Augustana and Metro State of Denver haven’t apparently completed theirs. Merrimack, UCSD and North Alabama have already stared their transitions.
  13. Looks like Jones & Co are looking at Omaha Biliew, an 8th grader in Des Moines. https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/iowa-state/football-recruiting/2019/01/23/iowa-state-recruiting-mailbag-cyclones-2021-recruit-zach-twedt-omaha-biliew-bowen-born-matt-campbell/2649550002/
  14. Don’t think that will happen because Midco passes big bucks to the Dakotas and they give Midco many favors in return. Midco needs games on more than two nights. The Big Sky didn’t have that arrangement with a single cable TV network that depended on it, so those nights were possible. Midco would be a big proponent of Augie too, so they will be voted in.
  15. Never ever thought they were considering it, but plenty of posters wanted them, as they are considered a savior for the Summit. NoCo wants a California/Arizona presence just like CU.. Attracting more out of state tuition is a major deal there, and plenty of Cali Kids want a place to party and ski, like Boulder, but much easier to get into. NoCo didn’t have an DII opportunity with academics (much of the RMAC was NAIA) and time has ensured they won’t return. UMKC wouldn’t return either for some of the same reasons, but Texas is more a focus just for potential students and alumni.
  16. And a reminder that UND women lost to the SDSU by 18 just last week. Thrashings are not additive.
  17. Sacramento just had the co-owner of the Pittsburgh Penquins enter into its group to get an MLS team. The group needs to have a stadium like Minnesota United to get an MLS expansion team. Sac St has an FBS stadium, but this would be an improvement. It really needs an upgrade over its Jr High gym, but it could play where the Kings play b-ball. https://ussoccerplayers.com/2019/01/sacramento-upgrades-its-mls-expansion-bid.html
  18. Here a story on Fort’s signing: https://www.dailyprogress.com/cvillevarsity/blue-ridge-s-fort-signs-to-play-at-north-dakota/article_e2731f28-1db9-11e9-9d69-9b85dd374fba.html
  19. Ralston had some good commentary. He said Davidson knew the weakness of UND defensively and offensively and now as USD assistant coach, they were meaningfully attacked at those weak points. Davidson worked hard with with Moody to elevate his defensive game, and those weak points were still evident in this game.
  20. I Coming from a poster that won’t concede he was wrong. St Mary’s had its own program and that Shanley formerly did but currently is in a co-op, that’s rich.
  21. The Williston City District (Dist #1) voted no on school expansion recently, including a HS expansion that was just opened. That district’s admin is trying to push legislation to bar the K-8 students from District 8 (rural but increasingly suburban area outsides Williston) from attending Williston HS. That new Williston HS will be pressed to the limits soon but state law says they have to accept neighboring K8 district children that need a HS. District #8 may need to open its own HS or go to Ray, Grenora, Trenton, Tioga, Watford City, etc if the legislation passes. District 8 has been growing faster than District #1 by many percentage rates. https://www.willistonherald.com/news/talk-of-excluding-students-from-williston-high-schools-surprises-district/article_301c5cc0-1dcf-11e9-94f6-abc643c35ea8.html
  22. It doesn’t look good for NoCo moving to the Summit League as they would have exit and entrance fees. Looks like they need to cut down on athletics: https://collegead.com/university-of-northern-colorado-10/
  23. UND never sent out a press release with new stadium photos. Those were just renderings found on an architectural firm’s site shared here. A press release from Cal Poly with $ figures satisfies the “official” release demanded by Southpaw and Goon.
  24. You talk as if the Jr Gold programs in the larger city just play outdoors and hockey boosters don’t support them. A second smaller class could take over the almost entire Jr Gold schedule. The Jr Gold programs can be taken over by private schools and those schools would see an enrollment growth. Recognize there is are problems (like hockey players would need to project who gets cut if they wants playing time) to overcome that, but you didn’t even know about St Mary’s program so can’t expect you to know much.
  25. Cal Poly announced a 4000 seat expansion to its football stadium to its Vision 2022. 2022 is just before I expect there to be many schools transitioning to FBS. Since Alex Spanos stadium used to seat 11,075, this should take it above the magic FBS number of 15k. Funny, there is no demand for Mustang seats lately, but Cal Poly feels the need to do an expensive stadium addition over RR tracks never the less. http://mustangnews.net/uu-expansion-off-campus-housing-among-changes-announced-in-2035-campus-master-plan/
