  1. SDSU shot horribly from 3 pt land except in the last 30seconds.
  2. What a gift for Richman. NDSU almost gets a free pass to the title game.
  3. A mid major conference absolutely needs a strong team to represent it. The would double the money for everyone. That said, SDSU has won a few that they shouldn’t have lately.
  4. A fan of ladder brackets like the WCC has. A #1 seed shouldn’t be playing the #8. Winning the regular season should mean something. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_West_Coast_Conference_Men's_Basketball_Tournament
  5. Here’s a KWSN article about Augie moving. https://kwsn.com/news/articles/2019/mar/08/summit-league-commissioner-has-talked-with-augustana-but-no-formal-action-yet/
  6. Since the Horizon-Summit showdown can start next year, the Big Sky schools can be moving over this spring. W Illinois will be retained for at least a year and then replaced by Augie. PUFW and Robert Morris to the Horizon for a 12x12 challenge. ORU to the WAC as a travel partner for UMKC. WIU to the OVC when Augie comes in.
  7. This is a smart move, for once. https://brookingsregister.com/article/horizon-league-summit-league-showdown-to-start-in-2020
  8. Talk by Douple about PUFW ands WIU leaving the Summit and Augie joining. https://kwsn.com/podcasts/sports-talk-with-kwsn/5093/tom-douple-on-summit-tourneys-decade-in-sioux-falls-augustana-possibility/# The Men’s soccer talk is crap. Denver and Omaha can join the MVC as affiliates. The Summit needs football badly to save itself. The Dakotas are not adding men’s soccer so the Summit needs to drop that sport and let Denver, Omaha and ORU go their way and find affiliate spots. The MVC would take some programs now.
  9. The Koch Brothers giving is the most interesting. Koch does not have a direct interest in ND to my knowledge, and their gifts often grease the skids so to speak, as Sanford gifts grease skids too. Koch is heavily involved in petrol and chemicals.
  10. SW Minnesota St is almost on par with WIU now. WIU has the advantage for recruiting fb players but that’s about it. Trading WIU for Augie is a fair one. No media in Illinois cares for WIU except the hometown one.
  11. Delany of the B1G is retiring. USA Today says that opens the door for expanded playoff. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/columnist/dan-wolken/2019/03/04/college-football-playoff-jim-delany-retirement-could-mean-expansion/3055036002/
  12. The flagship school presidents will be so happy, as there will be a orgy of the academics leadership, which shouldn’t be underestimated. Ever since Nevada left, the Big Sky has been needing academic and research institutions. Denver tried to get in, as it has research and academics, but was turned down for no football, so they had to inquire to the Summit. NAU, Sac St, Portland St, Idaho St, S Utah and N Colo just don’t fill the research and academic wants. EWU, Weber St and Augustana don’t either, but they make awfully good travel partners. For both halves of the new conference, three flights will get to almost all the road games.
  13. You are not thinking big enough for a SV theory. A business school, a new stadium and finishing the HPC will be donated. KEM won't be the Big dog anymore and that maddens her little mind.
  14. Would even start M/W hockey and join the WCHA. If the men draw half as well as the USHL team, they would be a box office success. Dropping scholarship FCS almost equals MW lax and hockey in scholarships. Lax has so many players but only partial scholarships.
  15. If I were the Augie President, I’d start non scholarship fb for enrollment to become a fb rival for Drake and Valpo, and start M&W lacrosse. All of those moves would maximize enrollment, but it depends on how much Sanford will endow Augie.
  16. Some Big Sky institutions are still needed because Augie would not be an official DI school for at least 5 years, plus the # of years to announce. PUFW and ORU will be long gone by then. WIU is hemorrhaging students and money at a fast pace too and may have to drop to DII and the Great Lakes Valley Conference. WIU and EIU made a mistake when they moved to DI to start the then MidCon conference. UNI and UWGB should have insisted on UND and NDSU, but Cleveland St, Illinois-Chicago, Mo St and Valpo insisted on them for easy travel. The only thing that can save the Summit is if MVC members like UNI move over. But that conference is so much more prestigious and has big time NCAA credits with the recent Loyola run. The Summit will need much more than Augie to survive under new NCAA rules that the old MidCon didn’t face.
  17. Only a Summit announcement will make it official. The NCAA requires a D1 conference to sponsor a DII and take them.
  18. So since NDSU will be announcing a major gift on Thursday from Sanford (presumably for nursing), that should mean that Augie has tied down NDSU’s vote to enter the Summit, just as Sanford intends, Kennedy should use Sanford money HPC phase II.
  19. UND went 4-1in the Stetson Hatter Classic. The other team was Mount St Mary’s, MD, which is barely south of the Mason-Dixon Line. They head out to the West Coast next week for 13 games. Softball is now 9-10 on the season.
  20. Looks like the Betty had a charged atmosphere and record crowds the the girls Class B. Hopefully, that returns for both M W UND B.B. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4579510-coaches-ndhsaa-liked-what-betty-provided-during-state-class-b-tournament
  21. Are the Alaska’s budget challenged again? The WCHA probably doesn’t want then anyway.
  22. It’s really difficult to far much unless the victorious team is a pairwise bottom feeder like Canisius.
  23. Here’s another article that confirms Augie is looking to DI transition. https://www.kdlt.com/2019/03/01/two-local-universities-enrollment-is-growing/ It also says U of Sioux Falls will add women’s lacrosse. Wonder who replaces Augie in the Northern Sun. Maybe UW-Eau Claire, but they might drop football to offer DI hockey.
  24. Geno Crandall has been getting rave reviews in the Spokane paper, even though he has missed two handful of games with a broken hand. http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2019/feb/26/geno-crandall-has-overcome-late-arrival-injury-to-/
  25. Have long maintained, FBS is more cost effective if your in a conference of similar financially capable schools like a future Great Northern. The $1 million plus FBS payout per school which will go up in 2025, the multimillion payouts for away P5 games, and the bowl payouts. FCS gives one nada. EWU had to sell tickets to NDSU fans to even afford Frisco. EWU hired Lynn Hickey because she has experience at transitioning to FBS. https://theeasterner.org/45126/sports/ewu-board-of-trustees-focus-on-football-playoff-budget-during-meeting/ EWU would triple their current P5 guarantees if they moved up.
