An anti plastics anti anything article about the soon to be plastic hub along the Ohio River, courtesy of ethane from shale gas. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/25022019/plastics-hub-appalachian-fracking-ethane-cracker-climate-change-health-ohio-river

An article on Ty Hahn. Also plays basketball and runs track. Seems SDSU is after him as well as B1G schools showing interest. https://www.omaha.com/neprepzone/recruiting/football/recruiting-report-johnson-brock-receiver-ty-hahn-draws-interest-with/article_de059576-f436-55f6-9f73-1cb1bcfa4ec3.html

The Summit Championship game drew just 4076 fans. Not having a SD team means it doesn’t attract the attention. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game?gameId=401121699

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)
SiouxVolley replied to Cratter's topic in Community
U of Akron is offering buyouts for 47% of faculty. That puts UND’s cuts in perspective. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2019/03/university-of-akron-offers-buy-out-to-47-percent-of-faculty.html?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true Akron is going all in to become a STEM university. The history, psychology, social justice departments, etc don’t stand a chance. Kent St, Cleveland St and Youngstown St are all within a short drive. Akron intends to be different. -
Rather impressive seeds for SDSU and USD. SDSU got a #6 seed and plays in the regional hosted by Syracuse. USD got a #8 seed and plays in the regional hosted by Miss St. The selection committee doesn’t normally give any credence to non-reknown ,mid major conferences,

It’s split over five years as an annuity, so the immediate increase in payout won’t happen til next year. Of course, the other four years are also split, so it appears the Summit is getting near the $1.7 for this year, but that is the last five years payment. NDSU’s win over Oklahoma also gave the Summit an additional credit, but that’s almost expired. The payments go up each year of this current contract. Some conferences reward schools for winning. The Atlantic 10 gives big chunks to the school that did the winning as a annuity so winning NCAA tournament games becomes so much of a priority. Most presidents and AD’s want a steady and sure source of income for their athletic programs. The Summit has always been a socialist conference to my knowledge. Show me a link where that wasn’t done. Granted, NDSU received free publicity, got all expenses paid that the NCAA allows (charter, hotels, meals) and likely saw a big increase in merchandise sales, but most conferences share dance revenues evenly. The only was that NDSU could get the full value to itself if it withdraws from the Summit League, thereby destroying the SL autobid. If a conference loses its autobid, the payments revert to the school that earned them.

HAve relatives that have switched to Fargo from Grand Forks because of taxes. It’s just a few more miles and they have other needs that can be met there. It’s not $2 sodas they are buying either. Nothing like shrinking your market.
-
I think NDSU will be favored in any playoff game and gain $1.7 for the Summit.
-
Higher taxes on items cause people to flee or avoid those purchases. It’s been proven over and over but yet GF leaders do it anyway. Recently, NYC raised the minnum wage to $15, and they become incensed when the restaurants jobs disappear at the highest rate recorded. So now they are going to mandate no job losses for restaraunts. Using NYC’s logic, GF should sue Macy’s to get them opened again.

You’d miss the game, because UND would play on Tuesday or Wednesday when the extra 16 seeds play.

ANother shoe about to drop. Metro State of Denver is about to move to DI. The WAC claims it wants to sponsor FCS for Dixie St but then invites fb less Metro when reallly its doing a favor for the Big Sky to get new teams when it grabs the California ones. https://msudenver.edu/early-bird/2019/03/14-trustee-update.shtml

Either Schmidt plays, or he will transfer. A red shirt is not worth it if only gets one year out of him.
-
Thought the NCAA regs only allow a foreign trip every five years. Otherwise, the P5 would take them all summers.
-
Halfway pulling for NDSU to get to Dayton and win against the MEAC or SWAC. Each appearance at the NCAA is worth $1.7 mill, divided by nine teams. Bozoville also has 88 pages demanding Richman get fired. Larsen will have no choice but to richly extend his contract now.
-
Wrong. UND was on the Omaha side,
-
According to the liberal arts professors, he’s failed. Would get a different answer from STEM and business professors. And a different one from Aerospace.
-
The hotel situation would be miserable. When the Montanas et al come, I vote for Billings or Bismarck. Sioux Falls can keep the women’s side.

Wichita State’s former President just died. I post his obituary, because it lists the three must have components of a University apresident: academic experience, social consciousness, and businesss acumen. Kennedy seems deficient on academic experience and personal social consciousness. All of UND Presidents seemed to be badly lacking in at least one of those areas ever since Clifford. https://www.kansas.com/news/local/news-local-obituaries/article227455574.html

Augie announces they are examining the move to DI
SiouxVolley replied to Wildfan's topic in NCAA News
One can't add football using a majority of non conference schools as the Summit has to have six for FCS or eight for FBS. The MVFC doesn't even count as a conference sport for the MVC as the MVFC doesn't have either. The MVFC doesn't serve a purpose for the MVC private schools and is "officially" not associated. The MVC has to offer baseball and mens soccer numbers to maintain its autobid. The numbers are simply not there for a Summit close to its current form minus PUFW and WIU. The Summit could lose its autobid if it relied on you trolls. Augie wouldn't count for fb for at least five years so the Summit needs two more fb playing members. The Summit should be panicking, but they aren't, as they have a hand they haven’t shown. Augie should have been added before UND was added if they didn't have a master plan to get the Montana's and Idaho. -
Augie announces they are examining the move to DI
SiouxVolley replied to Wildfan's topic in NCAA News
The resident trolls have been saying that for years but will be forced to eat crow. UMKC has had opportunity to return, but the Summit is just a D2 league according to Kansas Citians. There is not enough mens soccer teams unless NDSU wants to start it up or baseball unless UND restarts it. The trolls just can't keep in mind the sports that are needed for an autobid, as they are inadvertently calling for fb to be dropped. Football trumps everything so the Summit needs to go in that direction instead of mens soccer and baseball as it is now. -
Omaha came out of nowhere and they only had two seniors. Youth laden. So much can change, like with this season.
-
Richman better get an extension now that he is in the semi finals against WIU. The Summit League better get either Omaha or PUFW to win. Any other team would see Dayton. Dont like other Sioux Falls cabal teams going thru.

KenPom had a 62.3% chance of SDSU winning the SLT. The odds of changed dramatically for everyone else.

SDSU gets an automatic bid to the NIT.
