Davis is AAU so they are R1. Poly isn't part of the UC system, but as mostly an engineering school, it has strong research and a good endowment. FBS was always part of their plans when they each moved from DII. EWU has plans to expand its stadium with its Gateway Project. Sac St may be getting a new MLS stadium, as the 49ers owners will build it when MLS expands to Sacramento. NAU and NCol have shown no inclination that they would spend money for FBS or better facilities.

Interesting that today, St Jude Medical just got a buy out offer from Abbott for $30 B, which is almost 30% higher than yesterday. Executives often get bonuses and a golden parachute when buyouts happen. Andrew Thome's dad and friends may be much more generous now.

It's been mentioned a bunch of times but you and bizon trolls just refuse to read my comments with any seriousness. The ball is now in the NCAA's court, as it can appear to be a compassionate organization toward Idaho by allow schools like it to move to FBS. When Idaho spends millions on breaking their existing FBS contracts through 2023, I will change my position and officially repent in your eyes.
-
Idaho does not want to associate with Idaho State, which is more like an overge own Minot St. SUU's President and Weber State's AD have said a Big Sky split will be based on research schools separating themselves from non-research schools. Trust them instead of board talk.
-
So count you in among bizon trolls that are clueless. The NCAA will have a legal fight with Liberty, as it wants FBS status and has money to sue and the NCAA will almost certainly lose. The NCAA will relax the rules to prevent a suit plus the P5 need more G5's to give cheaper guarantee games. Idaho has scheduled out multiple FBS gamessage until 2023. When they start cancelling them and paYing big breaches of contract fines, maybe you and bizon trolls will have a point.

Several NCHC teams would, because AF can't recruit NHL caliber recruits. That limits AF and goes against league philosophy that sees itself as a US college alternative to major juniors. CC and DU play AF annually regardless.
-
On your board that kind of tone isn't allowed by outsiders but you come here and spew. Hypocrite to say the least. Fullerton has long said part of the Big Sky should be FBS, but when I say it that's entirely wrong? The only way you would be happy on this board was if: A. Totally bragged up Sioux Falls as aa NCAA host (a lot of Sioux fans want SF to host a hockey regional) B. The Slummit was extolled the world's best women's basketball conference C. Saying NMSU fans are just begging to join the Slummit, which they barf at the thought D. Bunny fans had a place here to brag up your bizon buddies E. We kept Brookings as the center of the world and considered anything north of Fargo Canada

ASU could join the WCHA for two years for scheduling help with the Alaskas. Anything more that that I highly doubt, as CBS, DU, CC, and probably UND would highly want them.
-
CBS, DU, CC, UND, and probably UNo would want Ariz St. Miami and W Mich would want BGSU. There probably isn't a way that UNLV comes aboard with Miami and WMU leaving to get with BGSU in a new CCHA.
-
So WCCO confirmed that Ariz St is not going to the Big Ten in hockey. It's choices are the NCHC and WCHA. For the NCHC, that means to get to ten, we'd have to take either Bowling Green or UNLV if it starts hockey. For the WCHA, they would probably take Simon Fraser and Ariz St and create a western division or just take Simon Fraser if BGSU leaves.

STEM majors at the undergraduate level do well at any school and their pay shows it. Graduate level and non-STEM majors are another question.
-
There are Phoenix reports that the Sun and Coyotes are looking at Tempe and a reservation for new digs together with ASU hockey. The ASU basketball arena could be remodeled for hockey too.
-
Sac St should be good at baseball, so they won't drop it or men's soccer. Rowing is needed to counteract those for Title IX. Just like MSU won't drop skiing. Idaho had to add sports to make 200 scholarships, like womens swimming, especially on the Title IX side. NDSU would have to add two to three women's sports if they ever moved up. Women's hockey makes the 200 slots easier to attain and helps Title IX. Many schools are nearly 60% women / 40 % men, so Title IX is really hard for those schools like South Dakota, Sac St etc. Others are majority male, like UND, MSU, and NDSU, which all have engineering programs and in UND's case aerospace.
-
16 is the minimum of FBS. Also must have 200 scholarships for FBS. 14 is the minimum for FCS.
-
Kraft Field is a large part of the problem. If UND or Grand Forks had unlimited funding, women's soccer would be moved to the parking lot north of the HPC. The parking spots would be replaced with a ramp north of Memorial. Then the existing soccer field east of the REA can be replaced with real brick baseball stands and field. Maybe even a minor league team can be added.
-
Highly doubt the state of ND will make them raise $37 mill before hockey programs can be started. A men's program will be started well before a women's. The SBOHE wants to make Pres Shirley happy.
-
All the bizon troll postings in this thread are because they are really nervous that this is true. If it was false, they'd leave it alone. In their simple minds, FBS will only be granted to those who earned it. Like Coastal Carolina or Texas St!
-
So why not kick out half the G5 teams that won't ever be good? The P5 schools want the ability to schedule them and therefore avoid multi losses to P5 teams. Two or three new FBS leagues would benefit P5 more than it would cost, as guarantee game costs would go through the roof. Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Kansas schools secretly want another G5 league in their footprint, as they bring fans. Eastern Big Ten and southern Big 12 schools have an advantage with the MAC and CUSA in their territories. Been explaining this for more than a year, but bizon trolls deny the facts.
-
The is an article on www.sbncollegehockey.com on how Simon Fraser and Minot State are investigating DI and the WCHA. Minot State would have the option to play in the All Seasons Arena at the fairgrounds. SBC doesn't realize that there is an alternative to Maysa, where the Minot State club rink which seats under 2000. All Seasons seat nearly 4000.

2016 IIHF U 18 World Championships Open Thread
SiouxVolley replied to MDtoGF's topic in Non-collegiate sports
The NCAA would never grant a men's tournament to anywhere in the Dakotas. Too few high end hotels and too few flights. The REA isn't big enough either. The Women's tournament doesn't have such high standards, which is how Sioux Falls got chosen for a regional. Much of the first two rounds are at campuses. -

The REA budget takes a huge hit as Finland beat USA 4-2 to advance to the gold medal game. -
Men's lax isn't growing enough for conference opportunities. Air Force has to play in the SoCon. Denver is in the Big East. Bellarmine is the next closest, and it's in Louisville in the SoCon. UND probably would not get accepted due to travel. In women's lax, UND would be accepted to the MPSF, which sponsors a number of minor sports that other western conferences don't have enough members sponsoring.
-
UND wanted the Slummit to start football, but schools like WIU, SDSU, and NDSU absolutely refused to do it because they would lose their MFVC memberships and they are so delusional that they think they can get MVC membership. UND and No Colo could have been given Summit baseball affiliate membership, but the Big Sky and WAC are working together to deny the Summit more members. The Summit was to five baseball members when ORU left for a couple years. That was a huge deal as the Slummit is a non football conference that needs three men's team sports to keep its bid to the dance. It was about to lose that bid unless ORU came back, as the NCAA allows a two year grace period. The Summit and Big Sky/WAC have been at war and UMKC's and Denver's moves were part of that. Either the Slummit dies or the WAC dies. Next year with the Vikings Stadium there should be a home for early games for Upper Midwest teams. UND likely didn't lose that much playing in the WAC as almost all early games need to be away and UND can play the Slummit's teams on weekdays.

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)
SiouxVolley replied to Cratter's topic in Community
But you didn't read the realignment threads so you don't know ***! Funny that you attack me for all kinds of preposterous things when you have admitted that you didn't read them. Either you are lieing or just a fool. Your choice. -
Robin Hall, in the aerospace complex which will be mostly UAV classrooms and research. Donated in part byou Si Robin, who owns an aerospace antenna company that will have greatly expanded markets as UAV's increase. The tower will have a UND flame logo that will be seen from the interstate.
