NDSU and SDSU fans should be pleased that there will be an FBS option in a revised WAC for them. They don't have a prayer of FBS anywhere else. But the major thing that they are pissy about is UND will be there first.
-
Before the advent of message boards, actually preferred SDSU to USD. The classless behavior SDSU fans have learned from NDSU changed my mind. The Big Sky will value loyalty. UND went into the BSC and persevered when geography was against it. All the Dakota schools were asked to wait for DI by the Big Sky. NDSU's Chapman and SDSU's Miller refused and ended up wanting badly the MVC, which doesn't value loyalty only money. UND will be the first FBS team as its gained some Big Sky loyalty reward points as a patient school. USD will be next. SDSU will follow in the years to come. NDSU will be last.

My guts and my brain. Idaho's and NMSU's recent PR's are nothing but ruses. This move has been planned for years by all involved.

This coming week, Idaho's Staben will make a statement and a plea. He will state the the overwhelming Vandal alumni response was negative to the FCS announcement. He will also state that he will reconsider FBS if two conditions are met. First, Vandal supporters must raise x million in pledges, and secondly, six Big Sky program must commit to FBS and move to the WAC. If those two conditions are met, Idaho will stay FBS. The other Big Sky prez's will respond coolly to that and say that they need to raise money for scholarships and facilities, but secretly they have been planning for it for years. The six schools that will commit to FBS to satisfy Idaho's demands are Montana, Montana St, EWU, UND, NAU. But Wichita St will commit to FBS as an affiliate, so that makes eight. USD even will state they are interested. Denver will come forward as wanting to be affiliated with an FBS conference. UND will be reluctant publicly, but there is a a donor or donors that are ready. When those donor come forward, UND will officially commit. So all those schools will join the WAC. The Slummit will have to invite UMKC and Chicago St to stay alive. The Big Sky will in turn invite GCU, UTRGV, Seattle, UVU, and Bake. Sac St, Cal Poly, UCDAVIS, and Portland St will remain BSC affiliates for a couple years, and then be invited. The Big Sky will also invite Azusa Pacific and Dixie St to fill out its FCS roster and Cal Baptist on the basketball side. Down the road, NDSU and SDSU will have to join, as they didn't get MVC invites. They move, but the Slummit will die if DII teams like Mankato, Augustana, and Grand Valley St haven't been invited.

Pensacola wins SPHL Presidents Cup
SiouxVolley replied to GeauxSioux's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Saw that Melbourne Florida is going to build a rink for that same Southern minor league. Has UWF ever looked into sponsoring varsity hockey at DI? UWF, FIT in Melbourne, and FGCU in Fort Myers could be the beginning of a college league. Add UAH and two others. Pensacola would likely support DI hockey, as the have supported the IceFlyers (weren't they the Pilots in the ECHL) for years. -
Fullerton has been talking up FBS for Big Sky schools for years. This is his opportunity to shine before he goes out. He doesn't have anything to lose, and at 67 he stayed on til this date to see the first steps toward FBS. The entire Idaho to FCS and NMSU conference choice are just ruses, and Fullerton will appear and propose a revised solution that all the Big Sky and WAC presidents have known for five years: an FBS WAC and a FCS Big Sky.
-
Fullerton will make a statement soon, as the WAC information is not publicly known. The Idaho and NMSU presidents can end their ruzes soon.
-
Your statements tell that you enjoy not even capable of strategic thinking. Not bothering responding to your worthless comments.
-
Call up the MVC offices, as they'll set you straight.
-
FBS schools get a lot more publicity than FCS ones. Lower level FBS also get more revenue from P5 games, more P5 games, more TV revenue, and CFP revenue - although the WAC won't get any money until the CFP is renewed. Idaho got more publicity from saying their moving down than NDSU has gotten from winning an FCSU trophy.
-
All the Jacks and bizon trolls were giddy about NMSU to the Slummit. It's not even mentioned but the Horizon is. Slummit is SOL. The NMSU prez us just using this survey as a PR ruse. The WAC will go forward with BSC teams and FBS.
-
The MVC was never an FBS conference. When it played big time fb 25+ years ago, it was a 1A conference. The rules have changed since so the MVC is SOL.
-
UND and the Big Sky helped the WAC survive, so it will be given favors in the future. Denver and the Slummit teams wanted the WAC destroyed, and that will be remembered. We will be writing the rules. Gene Taylor didn't do any favors to UND FB either. Have a hunch NDSU will be paying dearly for Geno's ****.
-
The MVC tried to merge with the WAC when it was down to 4. The MVC is SOL for FBS.
-
On bozoville, posters are already denouncing a new FBS WAC. Half the bizon fans base will be gone if you get your way.
-
Why can USD afford FCOA but SDSU cant? When USD's new arena is finished, the basketball parts of the Dakota Dome can be remodeled to seat more the 15k. That was a plan I heard.
-
Including Jacks fans in that fee could help too!
-
I am getting way ahead here, but could see the WAC inviting schools such as Liberty, JMU, Delaware, Stony Brook, Albany and UNH for football only and a couple million in cash. Then those schools can split and join up with UMASS and ARMY and form their own FBS league. Would be a way for the new WAC to raise cash, as if won't have a part of the CFP cash that every other league gets until a new contract is negotiated in 2024. No way would the WAC allow affiliate football members from the MVC, as that would harm UND's recruiting too much. We need to be the premiere destination for G5 recruits in the area. NDSU will have to a pay big entry fee for a chance to go FBS eventually and change its scheduled game against us to allow for several homes games in a row for us.
-
The MWC commish said Wichita St could move, but it won't be the MWC. Perhaps Wichita St could accept a football only bid to the WAC. The Shockers seem intent on starting an FBS teams.
-
Fullerton and Big Sky Presidents have always known about this rule. Idaho only left the WAC because it wanted it's share of a couple million dollars in exit fees left by former WAC members and it wanted to renew ties with the Montanas and EWU. Didn't know that NAU was interested in FBS. If they play some games in Phoenix they can probably swing it. Idaho St, Weber St, N Colo, and S Utah are the only sure FCS teams in my book now. But UTRGV is starting football, Utah Valley start it, and Dixie St and Azusa Pacific could be added from DII, as they have nice facilities and have DI desires.
-
I like it that I was wrong. NMSU can't go to the MVC and make it FBS. The Big Sky and WAC will have no entry or exit fees for each others members. If a new member from outside those leagues wants in, they will have to pay several million to go FBS.
-
The MVC and Southland and Big West were never FBS conferences, only 1A, so the rules don't apply to them.
-
You've made nearly a million troll comments and they have all been absurd. UND is getting an FBS invite from the WAC, as are much of the Big Sky. The bulk of the Big Sky will go FBS, which you and your troll buds have been arguing against since this thread started.
-
The NCAA has ruled that the WAC can still invite FCS teams to FBS under bylaw 20.4.2.1.1 The bizon trolls can complain to the NCAA all they want, but UND can be FBS!!!!
-
So now it will be debated on Big Sky campuses if they can go FBS or stay FCS. Fullerton's position ends July 1st, which is also the date of conference changes. We need a major donation to go FBS.
