  1. Cal Poly will be difficult. Just put 600 yds on SDSU and beat them in the new stadium in Brookings. South Dakota went 0-2 against the Sky.
  2. UND won 3-0 against Toledo in the 4:30 game.
  3. Ugliest game thread ever for a win. UND showed they won't give up and came back from 20 pts down. Yotes curse in the Alerus continues.
  4. Gophers win 4th set 25-18. UND did better than I thought against a highly ranked team. They will hopefully beat Toledo and Green Bay tommorrow.
  5. Gophers pulling away in the 3rd set, 23-20 right now. Gophers win 25-20. Moser with a huge match so far, as she's hitting over .600.
  6. UND leading in the 3rd set, 7-5. Minnesota is 3rd ranked in the country, so this is a surprise. Moser and Vail having big sets scoring. Dooley not so much
  7. UND got shellacked by the Gophers in set 1, 25-12. But came back to win set 2, 25-21.
  8. Bowling Green would demolish New Mexico. UND would even be favored against them. But USD was pounded by the Lobos. Nielson knows Bubba's tendencies rather well, being his boss at UMD and coaching against his defense at W Ill. That's the best shot you have.
  9. Love the look of ETFE on stadiums. For UND, a domed stadium probably doesn't need air conditioning as long as it has movable windows, even in the roof. AC would be a huge cost. Heating wouldn't be that difficult with UND heating ducts all over.
  10. UND wins the 4th set rather handily too, like the 3rd, and win 3-1.
  11. BC fans say that Quinnipiac loves the Ivy association too much to leave. Q is working on its academic side, mostly business I think, and playing Harvard, Yale, Brown etc is something worth alot to their admin. Holy Cross could have joined the Big East way back and now they regret it. Hockey is a way they can renew rivalries with Catholic schools like BC, Providence, and Merrimack.
  12. UND tied with SDSU after two, 1-1. SDSU should be a pushover with their 1-10 record, but so far UND has struggled against them.
  13. The Toledo Blade reported that the two point pass to Carr was tipped, causing Carr to miss it.
  14. The announced crowd at Bowling Green was 15,318. The stands were more filled on the home side, which cameras don't show, but that total is highly questionable with the far side so bare of fans. UND could at least replicate what BGSU has, and they won the MAC last year.
  15. Toivonen will be a special player before he's done. Liked the execution of the whole team in the second half. This team is capable of going unbeaten through the rest of the schedule.
  16. In fairness to Cal St-LA, Mike Garrett, former USC star and AD, just became their AD last year. He probably doesn't like DII much and is for an upgrade according to published reports. A DI move is a relatively new development, but Cal St-LA would have political issues for spending on travel if it moved to a WAC with schools in the Central Time Zone.
  17. Actually agree with you for once. Lack of a pipeline will result in oil trains keeping the tracks full, with oil trains still running through cities like Minneapolis and Seattle resulting in a much more dangerous condition. But stopping the pipeline would help Warren Buffets make hundreds of millions more, like what happened with Keystone. An existing major nat gas pipeline parallels the proposed route of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The earth has been disturbed before with no protest. If it was sacred ground, there is already a pipeline there. The Missouri River is a lake where the Dakota Access Pipeline crosses it. If a leak happens, it would very slowly diffuse into Lake Oahe, unlike a flowing river. Standing Rock didn't respond to many inquiries before when the pipeline plans were drawn up and didn't show up for hearings to lodge complaints. But when construction happens, their tribal leadership becomes all inflamed. The Fort Berthold reservation is where a lot of the oil comes from. Lack of a pipeline will force down the value of Bakken oil, hurting the Mandan, Arikara, and Hidatsa people, which have already blessed fracking. The idea that the pipeline destroyed sacred burial grounds has not been validated by any respected archeologist, but has been put further by anti-oil forces to show a basis that the Sioux are exploited. The land in question is private, not Indian owned. The Green Party wants to end oil based fuel and go to solar or wind. Much of the protesters and their money are behind this, as the Green Party's candidate Jill Stein has made her own spray painting visits. The protests wouldn't be so hypocritical if they were powered by Tesla vehicles rather than gas guzzling pickup trucks.
  18. UND just beat East Tenn St in five sets. East Tenn St had been unbeaten until this tournament. But UND lost to Tulane in five sets this morning. Tulane looks like it will win the tournament. So UND goes 4-1 on this Atlanta area trip.
  19. There is a rumor that the WAC has been talking with Cal St - LA and Cal Baptist about membership. Cal St - LA could have joined in any previous year, but I think it doesn't want to join until the WAC / Big Sky realignment. That way the furthest trips are Seattle and SLC. Going to Edinburgh, Chicago, Las Cruces, and Kansas City don't jive with the Cal St system. Cal Baptist can't move up for another year, but it's building an almost 6k arena in Riverside, so clearly it has some big ambitions. Cal Baptist has climbed close to the top among DII all around sports schools after having been in NAIA before. So if the WAC / Big Sky realign, many schools will benefit from reduced travel, both leagues would be more attractive to new members, both league could have FCS autobids, and FBS aspirational schools would have the inside track to FBS.
  20. Have made it perfectly clear that Wichita St would want football only in the WAC and Wichita St and NMSU would want Texas teams like Sam Houston and Lamar for student and athlete recruiting. FBS is one way to increase enrollment, which would also be important for Montana. Wichita St sees joining the MAC as a strategic flop, and would only work out if they were a short timer like UCF, Temple, and UMass. That is not acceptable anymore to the MAC.
  21. http://m.collegehockeyinc.com/node/1321 Not expansion related, but Atlantic Hockey is increasing their scholarship limit to 18, the NCAA limit. This should increase the caliber of players in that league, at least for the teams that follow through. Bowling Green and Ferris State may even have an option other than the WCHA. The AHA could split into a Lake Erie conference (a new CCHA) and a eastern seaboard conference if it adds enough teams.
  22. The athletic department is giving the press conference, not the econ or business or PR part of UM. Why would the athletic department present an economic study if they didn't have some action items?
  23. Next week Montana has scheduled a press conference next week to show a new athletic finances study. It must be news worthy as they wouldn't schedule a press conference. In 2011, Denver Pioneers people said the Montanas almost moved to the WAC. Could Montana be the first to move to the WAC, which will give it the right to go FBS Later? Idaho, Montana, and MSU seem to like UND's potential, as Idaho wanted us in the BSC or else their contract to move was void. Those schools one would think would want to partner with NDSU to go FBS. But instead they have chosen UND. Maybe their President know more about UND's possible donors than we do. A Montana move to the WAC even without FBS now would set off an earthquake in the Big Sky. A WAC and Big Sky FCS divisions. Divisions have been talked about by everyone in the Big Sky. This might be the moment. BTW, October 4th ends Rosh Hashanah, which is the end of this Jubilee year. Corresponding, there are a lot of financial reports that the dollar may no longer be the world currency on Sept 30th. Instead, a new world currency that has not yet been issued will replace the dollar as the key currency in the world and that currency would be issued and controlled by the IMF. Obama wants the rest of the world to catch up, so he wont confront the IMF. If this happens, gold could go to record levels, and US markets would see a marked reduction, especially banks. Much of my portfolio consists of gold and silver mines, which I will sell probably next year and buy stocks that have been vastly reduced.
  24. As I stated numerous times, an FBS move would be dependent on a major stadium upgrade with fancy suites and more seats that would grow revenue, just like the REA did for hockey. But you bizon trolls are not interested in hearing or even contemplating about a major gift to UND, that is clear. A stadium upgrade is needed for UND to go FBS. If that isn't clear by know, you trolls are illiterate or worse. If UND doesn't have a mjor gift coming, then they should consider the MVFC, which hasn't offered and probably wont.
  25. So bozoville hasn't been bad mouthing the Big Fluffy since NDSU was rejected several times?
