You trolls can simply not read or certainly not do simple arithmetic. The WAC needs to be a full FBS conference by 2022 to be part of the CFP FBS table for contract negotiations. That might be cutting it close.

Not much, but UND won't be flying to Arizona, Utah, Oregon or California for conference games. Academic relationships would be much more valued in the WAC. Kennedy uses the budget to swing a committee into action, but he'll present a solution that the Heraldo geniuses haven't considered. Going to the Slummit or MVFC would cost massively in up front fees. The Big Sky will give the WAC UND's entrance fee and call it a day.

Conference changes are normally Uber expensive with entrance and exit fees. So how would a conference change benefit UND finacially immediately? The Big Sky and Slummit are at war with each other, so neither want to lose teams to the other. Meanwhile, all the Big Sky affiliate teams have found refuge in the WAC, so relationships between them are entirely peaceful. The Big Sky has also said in the past it will have a research division. The WAC will be that. Lamar and Sam Houston St will probably delayed, as they don't need an FCS conference. But Wichita State needs an FCS and an FBS one, and the WAC will provide both.

Lamar and Sam Houston St are well within the Sun Belts geography, so you are clueless on that too. Maybe S F Austin, which has had a powerful bb team would go FBS too. Those three schools are almost Texas triplets. The Big Sky had signs for years that parts of it wanted FBS. Never knew that the WAC could still offer FBS slots. But you have stated for years that's impossible for part of it to go FBS. The WAC and Big Sky are like cooperative partners that will help each other, by giving free entrance and no exit fees, so schools can slip to either one. Such an arrangement boggles your mind.

Just a few more thoughts on Kennedy and changing conferences. One doesn't have a committee to evaluate such things, as the conference in question will raise their exit fees unless its really desperate. The Slummit badly needs another baseball school and UND just happened to drop it this spring. Bresciani would be declaring that UND has an offer now, as he needs story show collaboration with UND. Bresciani hasn't said a word, which is funny because that could help save his job. # The WAC is nearing desperation times, as Chicago St is on its deathbed. That would leave the WAC with seven schools, and one, GCU, isn't even a full DI member yet. UND is a s/d member in good standing, so UND personnel are in frequent talks with WAC officials just be the nature of an affiliation. Denver would move now because the Slummit isn't in their desires (the Big West or WCC are, but they don't want them now). Idaho, Montana, and MT St are similar institutions to UND, and they don't want a continued association if a Big Sky that will be non-flagship except them. UND, NMSU, Denver, UMKC and even UTRGV offer academics that the UI, UM, and MT St want to be associated with. The WAC has offered, and UND may be the first to take it, subject to the West Coast WAC schools leaving for the Big Sky. IMHO, this split was set up back when UMKC accepted a WAC invitation. One of the conditions was that KC would host a future conference bball tournament. UMKC to the WAC was a long term thing that finally makes sense, except to XDSU trolls.

Those two want a higher basketball league and don't want to go to the Sun Belt. The XDSU'S will have their dream of going to the MVC when Wichita St and Mo St leave, so they will be very happy. Lastly, the XDSU trolls say FBS is beyond UND's capability. But they aren't harassing Coastal Carolina fans, even though Coastal has much less going for it than UND, like football attendance and endowments and alumni. Coastal came from the lowly Big South conference to FBS, which is not supposed to happen according to MVFC fans. Coastal won the baseball national championship out of that conference, so we've each one a national championship against FBS competition in sports other than football. Lamar, Sam Houston St and UTRGV are all capable of going FBS, but the Sun Belt will not consider them. But it did seriously consider Eastern Kentucky, which is in the "power" OVC. XDSU's trolls don't have an explanation to why either E Kentucky or Coastal got serious looks from the Belt. They will be even more deluded about UND and other BSC and MVC and Southland schools going to the WAC.

If those schools really do start hockey, I can see Miami and W Mich going back to a WCHA without the Alaska schools, and then NCHC taking Mankato and Bemidji and going to two divisions. Maybe splitting in two later.

G5 schools that want to upgrade to a P5 conference lose money badly, because they have to spend wildly to even get on the P5 radar That is what you've used as a comparison and that isn't reasonable for UND. It's a chicken or egg syndrome: either be satisfied with being a low G5 or spend wildly on a chance that the P5 will expand to you. The P5 is not expanding to UND. UND would not wildly spend on coaches especially. That is the cause of much of the overspending in FBS. Look at Sun Belt schools that don't have a TV contract for the conference. They do better than FCS schools or even CUSA schools that spent in anticipation of TV revenue and even borrowed against future tv revenues.. If a donor wants to give facilities, it's a no brainer to go FBS. We already have the IPF. If we have a stadium gifted, that brings in a whole slew of revenue that we don't have now. We are in competition with NDSU, who has taken much of our football advertisers and corporate accounts. Going FBS changes that equation entirely.

Cutting women's hockey adds expenses to the men's side. The only real savings are coaches salaries, skate, uniforms, and travel. Softball is not required by the Big Sky. Add women's synchronized skating like Miami has and chicks would flock to UND and beg to be members.

Softball and soccer aren't good for UND under any measure. We should be in the NCAA tournament most years for womens hockey. Soccer and softball, even if they go to the dance, still wouldn't attract any kind of crowd.

Women's hockey attracts more than a thousand people a game. Granted many get in free. But my parents get into volleyball free too because they purchase other season tickets. VB all gets less crowds than women's hockey.

An FBS move wouldn't start till later when ND will be financially in better shape (think oil trust funds). A WAC move now would cut travel to the west coast, as those teams would move to the Big Sky. Most FBS schools lose less on football than FCS schools. That should compute in your brains but it doesn't seem to. I actually have more faith that an FBS move is coming than I ever had. Moving conferences is normally very expensive but the WAC and Big Sky schools can slide over without cost IMHO. Kennedy wants control of spending, because if it gets out of hand that will blow a chance of FBS. Faison may not like it, but Schlossman knew something was coming. Faison uses Schlossman for leaks. That's how Schlossman was the first reporter to know about the NCHC. If there is a story, it's how Kennedy and Faison are working together.

And it's more than Title IX. Women's hockey takes up a lot of the REA expenses. Not because its so expensive to field a team, but the REA spreads out some expenses on both teams. Cutting women's hockey means most of their respective expenses go over to the men's team. It's a simple business concept that most of you fail. And you don't pass off a big donor, the Engelstad, who have endowed many women's scholarships.

Talking cuts endears him with the legislature. When times in ND get tuff, those legislators want cuts. That is foreign to Bresciani, who doesn't speak or live like a N Dakota. Kennedy is gaining trust with NDAKOTANS fast, especially the legislature. Cuts are music to its ears.

Miller is just politically clueless. Mentioning budget cuts will win accolades from the legislature and SBOHE for Kennedy. Kennedy will be a hero in their eyes that will later pay dividends. Contrast that with Bresciani, who hasn't mentioned budget cuts to date.

And joining the WAC would be working with the Big Sky conference. Joining the MVFC would be a direct slap in its face, with exit fees not waived.

As said multiple times now, a WAC FBS will not be attempted until at least 2020. A WAC FCS can be merely a Big Sky division until then.

So Big Sky exit fees and Slummit and MVFC entrance fees will be paid HOW? The Big Sky has a big exit fee if the school leaves without much notice. On the other hand, swapping the WAC for the Big Sky will cost nothing.

And my point was 9400 seats was good for an FCS team. UTRGV clearly has something else in mind.
