ESPN times are set nearly a year in advance and maybe more, so the hockey and bb games would have been played at the same time even if UND had hosted.

Texas St winning the Sun Belt over favored UTArlington may have taken SDSU out of a play in game. We should be safe too. Guess Texas St is playing Troy later today for the championship. Could get even worse for Sun Belt seeding.

This year, Utah won't get a team in the NCAA, which isn't typical for it. Even UVU lost in a 4ot WAC semifinal, BYU didn't get out of the WCC, same with Utah St and the MWC and Utah in the Pac12. Maybe Weber will get an NIT bid against one of those teams. Senglin and Hill are seniors, but it seems like Weber St is just reloading as Harding seems to have great promise. The Big Sky will be more experienced next year.

Reno is 4500 ft. That takes a toll, especially at the third day. Ogden is about the same elevation, so it was a veritable home game for Weber. Sensed a lot of our players were tired. But this team showed again they have real heart. Down six pts with under 50 seconds to go. Unbelievable heart by Hooker and Crandall and all the gang to pull it out. Especially with the crappy calls going against us. Bernstein was robbed of two points because of an offensive goaltending crap call.

Will the team be back in time for it?

Normally would be concerned about beating a team the third time, as Weber has the revenge factor. But this UND team has revenge on its mind too, as Weber has beaten us in all Big Sky tournament appearances, including lasts years semis. Like this teams moxy. Hooker will have his biggest day, as he's due.

The announcers so badly wanted Idaho to win. It was Idaho this, and Portland St that and crap.

They could have become rattled but believed in themselves to fight it and pull off their own streaks. Very nice win.

Quite the composure by this team

By video on the Herald, the Region 2 championship game at the Betty was packed like sardines between Thompson and Hillsboro-CV. Why can't UND BB do that?

This thread reminds me of how some people said Starbucks will never grow outside the coasts, as the unwashed masses will never pay more than a dollar for a cup of coffee.

The play-in games are worth the same as all other games except the championship one. The winner of that doesn't get any extra money.

Hate blowouts at the first tournament game because I think it's bad luck. But good shooting and we'll balanced display.

The Big East actually had teams in the South then, like USF, and UCONN actually won a baseball regional at Clemson, so in spite of only playing home games in front of 400 odd fans, they were good. At the time, UCONN hockey didn't even give out scholarships and vb is notoriously bad on the east coast. Lax and soccer are probably more popular for fans therè.

Only USD and SDSU fans attended in any numbers. NDSU or Omaha playing in Reno would have attracted almost the same number of fans as SF. So the truth is, only SD fans care about the Slummit tournament to actually attend.

SDSU fans own that Slummit tournament. They have won it four out of six times, with inferior teams as of late. An argument can be made for higher RPI, but when SDSU makes it again, the argument is more about home field. It would be like the NCHC tournament always at the Ralph for more money.

IPFW, IUPUI, and Western Illinois are dregs of that conference who don't even provide a good travel stop. The Big Sky is just so much more of a sexier conference. A tournament in Sioux Falls vs one in Reno? For someone who lives far from ND, the Slummit is so much more unappealing for travel locations. For most of the Slummit's existence, schools have wanted out, not in like UND has done.

UCONN had a Grand Slam in the Big East in 2010-11 with fb, mbb, wbb, and baseball.

In that part of Virginia, developers often have to entice the county with some kind of jewel project in order to win the right for other adjacent developments. The land cost there would be astronomical, so that cant be the full cost and probably low balled on materials.

What happened to USD and SDSU this year? Weren't even in the top two in the Slummit and both didn't make the championship game.
