  1. ASU has an effective standing invite to the WCHA, but wants something better with the NCHC. But it needs access to the NCAA Tournament to allay recruiting issues and get crowds when it plays in Gila River. Some arena plans need to be announced soon, so if UND gets a B1G spot, ASU can slide in. Without an arena, Mankato gets in the NCHC when UND leaves. If UNLV announces DI soon, that can change the dynamics.
  2. Montana St has intentionally raised their bball profile lately. They were bottom feeders and now they get a home game vs NCSU? That doesn't happen without major admin backing. N Colo got Arizona and UNC was going on probation. Admittedly, we got Iowa, and Wisconsin before that, but the Gophers and Iowa St should be in reach now. A Gophers game would be very meaningful for recruiting.
  3. Just reviewing the November Big Sky schedule showed these games before Thanksgiving: Mont St @ Wash St Portland St @ Ariz St Sacramento St @ Colorado Sacramento St @ Nebraska Montana @ Southern California Weber St @ Stanford North Carolina St @ Montana St Washington St @ Montana Northern Arizona @ Washington Northern Colorado @ Arizona Montana @ Mississippi Not one of these were in the local area except Wash St, not one was played for RPI reasons, and most had large travel expenses. The budget at UND appears to be the reason that we can't get similar games.
  4. Injuries did not hurt this team much. That can't be said for prior years. This year was truly blessed.
  5. You seem to be implying that Bernstine and Shanks will be graduate transfers. Shanks only came to UND because of Hooker. Have taken it that Bernstine and Hooker were close too. Hooker was the glue that brought this team together.
  6. Crandall has unusual talent for our level. Sean Miller even stated that Hooker and Crandall were PAC12 level guards. Stewart may be very good too, as well as other player development.
  7. The impending bankruptcy of Sears probably played a bigger role.
  8. The Columbia Mall's JC Penney's is staying open. But the ones in Wahpeton, Jamestown, Dickinson, and Thief River Falls will be closed.
  9. Another poster said that. A private school AD has a lot more leeway on hiring. Jones could have talked to the AD, and gotten an immediate response. Take it up on Drakenation please.
  10. A poster on Drakenation said Jones applied but was turned down for an interview. Apparently, Drake has its eyes on a Creighton assistant. Let's start treating Jones and staff to a decent salary and future.
  11. The next time you hear about how we need to cheer for any ND team "for the good of the state" in NCAA postseason, just send them to at Bville's thread on the NCAA Tournament to see how much cheering was done for UND by those turds. Sure, there was maybe an exception, but we ignore them mostly, but they hardly ignore us in postseason.
  12. Am really proud of this team. Hooker and Baldwin will be Missed! Crandall's and Seale's continued growth will be amazing. Bernstine's play was fantastic. Looking forward to the redshirts and freshmen's talents. All the postseason games ended with a 'L' so far this year. Let's turn those into 'W's starting with hockey.
  13. It will be on TBS, or its March Madness app.
  14. The first play in game is final. Mount St Mary's 67 New Orleans 66
  15. You'll have to start a game day thread, because you seem to bring them luck!
  16. The West Regional has an abnormal number of private and mostly elite schools: #1 Gonzaga #8 Northwestern #9 Vanderbilt #5 Notre Dame #12 Princeton #13 Bucknell #11 Xavier #7 St Marys Whats lacking are basketball bluebloods. Arizona and maybe Maryland are the closest to that description. VCU, Florida St, FGCU and WVU make the bluebloods and the privates cringe and grimace, as they are counter cultural in a basketball sense. UND and SDSU are the only "normal" schools in that region. Strange that the Pac12, Big West and MWC didn't get more teams in that region. It's more of an private invitational.
  17. A home game would be nice, but not on Thursday or Friday nights!
  18. Wichita St is always underseeded, at least recently. Illinois St should have gotten into this tournament. Look how underseeded Middle Tennessee St is with 30 wins, and they beat Vanderbilt which has a higher seed and isn't that good. P5 teams always get the benefit of doubt.
  19. Yeah, and Hooker and Crandall can do Steve Nash imitations!
  20. It was actually South Carolina that lost to a #15 Coppin St in 1997
  21. Arizona has a history of being upset in the first round, but not so much recently: 2016 L to #11 Wichita St in Providence, RI 1999 L to #13 Oklahoma in Milwaukee, WI 1995 L to #12 Miami O in Dayton, OH 1993 L to #15 Santa Clara in SLC, UT 1992 L to #14 ETSU in Atlanta, Ga
  22. Tickets are available at StubHub and other places, but would be nice to sit courtside with UND fans. How much demand will there be for UND tickets for this historic Event? When will UND announce their allotment?
  23. It's so hilarious that the bizon are exclaiming that this UND team could never ever win a power league like the Slummit. But why does UND now have an RPI higher than SDSU? Pure comedy gold, those knuckleheads.
  24. Faison had the REA to watch over. Kennedy was down in Reno.
  25. This team went from street ballin' to a disciplined but creative style of play. If Jones himself or one of his assistants paved the way for that, more power to Jones. People are redeemable and they are capable of change. Maybe it was the power of the players faith and leadership that transformed the team, more than the coaches. Faison will have to determine that.
