An article out of Eastern Illinois that states the OVC better get more teams, as Murray St is likely gone to the MVC and Jax St and E Kentucky want FBS bad and could just declare FBS as Liberty has done. An OVC call for Western Illinois, which will become the eastern extreme of the Summit? http://jg-tc.com/sports/local/ovc-has-some-work-to-do/article_160593ae-2eed-5a42-a6af-466050246737.html An OVC could replenish with for it a powerful football program again with a derelict mbb one, matching EIU and traveling with SIU-E. Best of all for cash strapped W Ill, the OVC is a bus conference, no plane trips to the Dakotas or Denver, and a short bus ride trip to Evansville or Nashville for the OVC tournament.

There are some interesting message board polling out there. An Indiana St MVC fan polled NDSU, SDSU, and Oral Roberts if they want one of the two coming slots. NDSU and ORU fans voted overwhelming to leave, while SDSU fans voted overwhelming to stay, as they don't want to lose home court advantage in the SLT. Of course, the Horizon League is talking at least 12 too, but SDSU fans think the Summit is entirely safe because everyone is so happy with Sioux Falls. IPFW has its car ready and ORU will leave as soon as it's asked.

Wondering if UND also didn't get home games vs Stetson and Florida A&M, as they show up on NDSU's home schedule Nov 22 and 25. Both schools haven't released their schedules yet. A long ways to fly for one game. The only other DI home game that NDSU got besides us was Mo St.

An article on Morehead St being concerned with being the last Kentucky school left a in the OVC. Sounds like Murray ST will soon be gone to the MVC. Some mb chatter about ORU joining too. And the Horizon still wants 12 too, meaning IPFW is likely gone. EKU badly wants FBS and is enlarging and modernizing their venues as if a bid is coming. Grand Forks has a lot more going on than Richmond, KY, where Lexington is just 30 miles away. http://www.kentucky.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/mark-story/article165685517.html If IPFW and ORU are gone, the Summit has to attract two new schools with both baseball and mens soccer, or add men's football with Western teams.

Sounds like the NHL is funding a varsity study at Utah, according to this article: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865684489/

Suspect teams like Wahp-Breck, Bagley, Kittson County and ND JV teams. They will decide later if they apply to the EDC.

The Mayport Ice Dawgs co-op will include seven schools as far as the student draw, like FinleySharon HopePage, NorthwoodHatton, Hillsboro-CV. An agglomeration of already co-oping schools. There was talk of Watford City getting a team too, as they have a nice new arena complex next to their new high school. Langdon and Crosby might have to disband Jr Gold, as almost no one would be left except Grand Forks and Sidney, Mt. Legacy and Sheyenne are due new teams, but might not happen for a while.

Don't think you or bison73 have ever posted a link on this thread, but just attack ideas that brought up. Both of you are definitions of trolls here. There are a number of posters that are substantially more negative on a Northern League, but they have the good graces to not make it a sniping war. Posters are entitled to their opinion but when you and bizon73 snipe 24 hours a day, I call you on it.
-
Was fearful of that, but the MVC gave a site visit to Omaha and not to any xDSU, so they are not even on their extended list. The MVC wants an urban bus league so NDSU is not on their radar. Any bizon blustery talk of the MAC or MWC is just garbage. A new Summit would have academic and research credentials that our Presidents dream of. That matters even more than athletics.
-
Don't think I can run with sausage heads like you. Should not be so harsh on you because the Bizon in your football playing days didn't care about head injuries. It was a badge of honor there if you got knocked senseless and still stayed on the field, so my condolences on the sausage state of your brain. MplsBison is so against any Big Sky school joining the Summit that he is trying a arrange a boycott of my postings. He wasn't banned here, but only agreed to leave when he made a bet that UND would never be a Big Sky school. A lot of bizon posters agreed with him, but they still troll here. A lot of Big Sky school fans think that the Montanas don't have the balls to jump conferences and they get angry at me even putting it out there.

Interesting story from St George on the old Great West. Tim Walsh the Cal Poly coach is quoted as believing UND always had the resources to compete. http://www.thespectrum.com/story/sports/college/southern-utah/2017/07/29/great-west-football-conference-has-its-fingerprints-all-over-fcs/522096001/

Jackfans29 must be your hero now as he has gone on record like you and Southpaw that the Summit will be largely the same in the future. Invite them for your sausages at your tailgate parties and reminisce about your encounters with big bad me on message boards. Make sure you have Western Illinois and IPFW fans with you as you celebrate the current Summit lineup. Thats a whale of an IQ setup for a tailgate party, so sure there will be a lot of deep conversations with those large *ss sausages. Bison Dan will stop by too so you'll have a monopoly on iodiocy and MplsBison is all in with you too. That is fine company that you keep.

Mostly AD's would say their committed to a conference for the foreseeable future, even if they clearly are not. The Western Illinois AD said they would not keep their head in the sand. Big difference in response. The Montanas and Idaho are waiting for IPFW and W Illinois to leave. I'm not wishing for the destruction of the Summit, only for the eastern teams to leave. You are one of the few outside posters that understands how stable a Summit of the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho and Denver would be, so I have to to give you major credit for that.
-
Knew that was coming from your clueless self. You should go out for drinks with your Jack fan buddy as your both in Colorado. But he hates hockey so much of your conversation ability disappears, so you'll have to talk about how much a rival IUPUI was. Maybe his comment about mindless UND grad hockey fans only applies to you?
-
This is the same Jack fan that will lose any shred of credility if the Summit loses another school as he has said that the Summit is stable. He's lashing out at me because he wants to remain credible, even though he called UND hockey a niche sport that is not relevant in the Dakotas except for mindless UND grads.
-
So the Western Illinois AD basically admits that they are looking to get out of the Summit, but doesn't want to cause panic among his fans. "But to say we will bury our heads in the sand and not pay attention to everything else going on, I think from a realignment standpoint would be silly." Earlier, he stakes that IPFW is effectively gone, as the Horizon wants more schools. So W Ill is looking at the OVC (the only conference that would take them) and IPFW will get its Horizon walking papers, and Omaha is looking. That doesn't portend well for the Summit unless it has Big Sky schools already set to move. http://www.mcdonoughvoice.com/sports/20170714/western-facing-conference-changes

The expansion of a Watford City gas plant by Oasis Midstream will make it the largest such facility in the Bakken, exceeding the Hess plant in Tioga. Hess separates it's Nat Gas Liguids into components like ethane and propane, which might come later for this plant. Watford City will continue to see growth from nat gas, and the drilling is mostly happening in McKenzie County. http://www.grandforksherald.com/4303272-site-gas-plant-expansion-near-watford-city-approved A major job addition like this would have been state-wide news before Bakken.

Illinois saved itself temporarily from ruin as the leftists rammed through a large tax increase. The middle class and rich will have even more $ reasons to exit to Indiana and Wisconsin and Texas and Florida. The poor directional U's don't have real endowments or anything so parents get cheaper out of state tuition than from in state Illinois directionals.

There is an Internet rumor that EIU will end their men's soccer program after this season is over. EIU saw a 25% decrease in freshman last year and a 13% overall drop. Since EIU depends on student fees, something must be cut. It's a big deal to the Summit as it would leave them with 5 men's soccer teams, and men's soccer is one of their designate team sports that keeps the men's autobid alive. Losing IPFW would be worse as IPFW is a key school for the two team sports, baseball and men's soccer. But EIU men's soccer is still critical, as the MAC and MVC have been scarfing up men's soccer affiliates - SIU-E just went to the MAC for the sport as Buffalo dropped it. But losing either EIU men's soccer or IPFW or WIU or Omaha or ORU would put the Summit in an existential crisis. The Summit just needs to sponsor football and all this baseball and men's soccer crap don't matter to the Summit Leagues mbb autobid anymore.

Why no news on OOC Scheduling? @Creighton @NDSU NDSU Many teams have already announced their schedules. Looks like we will be maxed out with NAIA and tournaments.

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)
SiouxVolley replied to Cratter's topic in Community
The Foundation has made contact with people or groups that have previously made an athletic scholarship endowment, and asking if they would like to participate by giving more, even partials. If money is still there, there may be a public announcement is my guess. -

No idea who gave that anonymous donation.
