Stepan wanted to be a Gopher, OSU wouldn't let him. It's as simple as that.

No there's currently no policy like that in place.

Now I'm hearing that OSU is being very strict about not allowing any of their signed recruits go to a Big Ten school so Stepan to the U looks less promising at this point.

The idea that Gopher players aren't also held under a microscope just isn't true. Has a local GF news station ever done an undercover expose at campus bars using tiny hidden cameras to catch underage hockey players drinking? I didn't think so. The idea that this keeps happening in Grand Forks simply because of the size of the town is a weak built-in excuse.

I suppose one of them could be held back a year if in fact Stepan does choose the Gophers. The only thing I can confirm is he is de-committing from OSU.

Cammaratta, Kloos, Guertler, and Fasching. And Conner Reilly will be a redshirt freshman after missing last season. Stepan would make 6 freshman forwards

Looks like you may be right. I have a great source that says Stepan has decided to get a release from OSU and commit to the Gophers. The only potential problem might be getting the release since we are now in the same conference.

Owned is an uderstatement. But I would actually love to see Ohio State become relevant in hockey. Recognizable big name schools doing well is good for the sport and it's growth.

Winning a national title at Bowling Green is monumentally tougher than winning one at UND.

I didn't realize back to back Macnaughton Cup's was considered a sinking ship these days. The Gophers have a lot of highly drafted juniors, a mass exodus after this season was expected.

Injuring him won't change his on ice antics of talking, its just who he is it's how he plays. Im assuming you were a fan of Blake, Prpich, and Hextall?

All four will sign, the only hope I had was Budish maybe sticking around but looks like that's not happening either. Losing 4 guys early seems like a lot to overcome but with only 1 senior(Helgeson) it won't be anything unusual to have to replace 5 guys in one off-season. Cammaratta and Kloos might be the two best forwards in the USHL as they are 1-2 in scoring despite playing less games than every player below them. Both will make immediate impacts. Fasching, Guertler, and C. Reilly who missed this season with injury are also highly coveted. It's perfect timing for the Gophers to bring in one of the best recruiting classes they've had in recent memory which this one certainly is.

Good luck but I don't think you need it. Hard to imagine there will be two choke jobs in the same regional.
