  1. Really surprised by the "you need to fall in line" mentality being advocated by some folks. Now that our University has chosen its new logo, I guess our University is now at liberty to choose everyone's thoughts.
  2. Nope. However, come this August, I am curious to see whether UND brings in a last minute 21-year old recruit from the NAHL or MJHL to fill the void if a certain someone signs with the Blackhawks.
  3. This exact same picture and puck had been listed on eBay during the past several weeks for $75.00. It received zero bids. With apparently zero demand, and OP's admission that his supply of these pucks is now 5, I am not sure how there could be any expectation that someone would pay $150.00 for this. Very cool puck, nonetheless. I was a big fan of the blackhawk logo.
  4. I'm writing in my own candidates this cycle. Definitely voting for Brad Berry as Governor and probably even POTUS.
  5. That's debatable. http://www.bringonthecats.com/2015/11/12/9724812/mens-hoops-preview-kansas-state-vs-maryland-eastern-shore-hawks http://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/teams/md-eastern-shore-hawks
  6. Good question. I'd also be interested to know if those who abhorred the idea of "Nodaks" for its apparent redundancy feel the same way about "Nokotas" NOrth DAKota / NOrth daKOTA Personally, I like both, and especially when compared to Fighting Hawks. If there was ever anything redundant about this process it was the decision to adopt the "Hawk" moniker for yet another college sports team.
  7. UND's football did not sell for as much as UND's $1,450.00 hockey jersey. How much did NDSU's hockey jersey sell for?
  8. Player and (age): Tkachuck (18); Dvorak (19); Boeser (18); and Schmaltz (19), at the time of the WJC. Juxtaposing the exact same aged players against one another in an 18-20 year-old tournament doesn't prove anything about age. An 18-20 year-old tournament is not a useful tool to compare the CHL's 16-20 year-old players and the NCAA's 18-24 year old players.
  9. Hey, did you guys all know that Chris Kunitz started at LW in the 2014 Olympic gold medal game over Jamie Benn (second line) and Patrick Marleau (third line)!!!!! How is that possible?!?!?!? Chris Kunitz just must be better than Jamie Benn and Patrick Marleau as a matter of fact. #MJlogic
  10. Riiiight. This explanation makes even less sense. So now you're trying to claim that London's top line is better than UND's top line simply based on the fact that 2/3 of London's top line played on two separate lines apart from 2/3 of UND's top line during a bronze medal game in an international tournament. That would be like me trying to argue that Nick Schmaltz is better than Christian Dvorak because, in that same bronze medal game, Schmaltz had more points (3) than Dvorak.
  11. While I think it's great that you can admit that your comments about one international hockey tournament failed to provide any evidence that the CHL is better than the NCAA, I'll reiterate my earlier suggestion as a friendly reminder: please try to stay on point. The US U-20 team is not a CHL team.
  12. Bravo! Your argument that the CHL is better than the NCAA has now digressed to merely pointing out that two London Knights players were on two separate lines, which did not include any North Dakota players, at a brief international hockey tournament between 10 countries. Next time, try to stay on point, please. Thank you.
  13. Right. Like last season, for example, when BU randomly put in a cold goalie against the USNTDP halfway through the second period of an October exhibition game for no other reason than it being an October exhibition game. Coming in halfway through the game, the goalie only saved 10 of 15 shots. Go figure.
  14. I'll take a 200 lbs, 24-year old Coltyn Sanderson on my third and fourth lines over some 145 lbs, 16-year old, even if that kid has the potential to be drafted in the first three rounds with an illustrious NHL career to follow sometime in the next decade.
  15. Can anyone quote or paraphrase what Hennessy said? I'm just curious as someone told me they heard Hennessy say Schmaltz is returning.
  16. Sorry to be a downer, but when you make the most morally conflicted, if not naive, comment in the history of internet message boards, you don't get to call out others for posting a stupider more stupid comment than your's. I get it: you object to 7 year old sweatshop labor for hockey jerseys, but you have no problem with 7 year old sweatshop labor for making your smartphone. You do realize that dozens of "little forced laborers" have committed suicide at Apple's Foxconn City plant, right? But that's okay with you because your smartphone was "legally manufactured". Wow, ignorance must truly be bliss for Frozen4sioux.
  17. I hope you don't own a smart phone then.
  18. Why the delay, Schmaltz? I was told that you'd be announcing your return to UND by Friday.
  19. Sure ya did. So, Schmaltz is making a bush league play and putting the program into scramble mode because some kid who just found out he gets the opportunity to play for UND has a few less weeks to enroll in his 100-level general courses. Yep, sure ya did.
  20. Except that you were complaining that the "program is going to be in scramble mode" if Schmaltz waits until August. You weren't originally discussing the nuances of enrolling in college, so I'm not certain what your last comment has to do with anything.
  21. Scramble mode? If Schmaltz signs today, Berry calls a recruit and tells him he's coming to UND. If Schmaltz signs in August, Berry calls a recruit (probably the same one he would have called in May) and tells him he's coming to UND. Or any other number of "either, or" contingency plans depending on if Schmaltz signs.
  22. I don't think anyone has actually said this, nor is that what people are implying. Schmaltz leaving in July/August in completely different than Tambellini bailing mid-season. If Schmaltz does choose to take his time and make an informed decision about his career and livelihood, I would have to believe that he's keeping Berry up to date. I'm surprised that no one seems to remember some of the other recent UND players who left in July/August. Brian Lee signed in July of 2007. Matt Greene signed in mid-August of 2005. Heck, there was an entire thread devoted to Matt Greene in the summer of 2005! http://forum.siouxsports.com/topic/4459-see-ya-later-matt-greene/?page=1 Like with Matt Greene, who signed on August 15th, I'm certain Berry has a contingency plan in place if Schmaltz similarly waits until late summer to sign. There are plenty of recruits who have completed high school and/or would love the chance to play at UND this season. It just takes a phone call. Whether Schmaltz signs in May or signs in August, UND still is probably going to bring in the same player to fill his spot. The hoopla about July/August signings is really being blown out of proportion, and Tambellini is an extremely poor example of Schmaltz's current situation.
  23. Good point. We should all bust out our 1980s Sioux jerseys, and the arena will really have a home crowd atmosphere for the Fighting Blackhawks/Hawks/Sioux during the frozen four!
  24. Just speculation, but I assume Schmaltz will wait until after Chicago's developmental prospect camp this July. After that, he and the Blackhawks will probably have a better understanding of whether Schmaltz will be (NHL v AHL) next season is he signs. It wouldn't surprise me to see his decision come late July/early August.
