  1. You probably should have also pointed out that there is a difference of less than 1,000 tv homes between Duluth (163,560) and Bismarck (164,550) on that list. So statistically speaking, they're pretty much the same on that list. But, you certainly should have also pointed out that your list combines Bismarck with Minot, and Williston, and Dickinson. So, in other words, the 164,550 on your list represents the entire Western half of North Dakota, not just Bismarck. The city of Duluth has far more people and far more actual TV viewers than the city of Bismarck.
  2. Might as well. Looks like that is the path the conference is headed down. Either way, no one in the WCHA is getting better. Instead, the teams have conference schedules without the likes of North Dakota, Denver, Duluth, Minnesota, etc. That's why Mankato was able to win back-to-back WCHA championships. But we should also be mindful that after their first championship, they entered the NCAA tournament as the #1 overall seed and quickly lost to Rochester Institute of Technology. After their second championship, their season had already ended because the WCHA isn't good at hockey; i.e, they didn't even make the NCAA tournament. The poor play in the WCHA has been well documented this year.
  3. So the "National" basically will have turned out to be an excuse to dump three teams: Michigan Tech, Bemidji, and Anchorage. smh. And yes, I know the NCHC added Miami, WMU, and potentially ASU. But that is beside the point considering the "National's" supposed, original intention.
  4. No reason to water down the league. 8 is fine. Otherwise, it's increasingly clear that the WCHA should have just invited Miami and Western Michigan to replace Minnesota and Wisconsin. Instead, the NCHC will become the de facto old WCHA without any of the history and tradition.
  5. That's what impressed me the most about Toews' time at UND. Toews was still only 18 when he played his last game for the Sioux.
  6. And we can kindly remind the Gopher faithful that their last two championships would not have happened without a kid from Grand Forks, North Dakota and another from Austria, both of whom were responsible for the game-winning goals in the respective championship games.
  7. Never understood why Shaw was out there over Wolanin. I also think he'll have a real noticeable impact this year and step into the Genoway/Schmaltz/Stecher type of role UND has had the past 10 years.
  8. I didn't know that. Do you know the reason why Brien drew the artwork and how UND came about acquiring it for its logo?
  9. The resistance from fans started well before twitter existed and well before any current hockey player graduated high school.
  10. Yup, must be even nicer to keep both the interlocking ND and an ethnically based logo for their school.
  11. Really surprised by the "you need to fall in line" mentality being advocated by some folks. Now that our University has chosen its new logo, I guess our University is now at liberty to choose everyone's thoughts.
  12. Nope. However, come this August, I am curious to see whether UND brings in a last minute 21-year old recruit from the NAHL or MJHL to fill the void if a certain someone signs with the Blackhawks.
  13. This exact same picture and puck had been listed on eBay during the past several weeks for $75.00. It received zero bids. With apparently zero demand, and OP's admission that his supply of these pucks is now 5, I am not sure how there could be any expectation that someone would pay $150.00 for this. Very cool puck, nonetheless. I was a big fan of the blackhawk logo.
  14. I'm writing in my own candidates this cycle. Definitely voting for Brad Berry as Governor and probably even POTUS.
  15. That's debatable. http://www.bringonthecats.com/2015/11/12/9724812/mens-hoops-preview-kansas-state-vs-maryland-eastern-shore-hawks http://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball/teams/md-eastern-shore-hawks
  16. Good question. I'd also be interested to know if those who abhorred the idea of "Nodaks" for its apparent redundancy feel the same way about "Nokotas" NOrth DAKota / NOrth daKOTA Personally, I like both, and especially when compared to Fighting Hawks. If there was ever anything redundant about this process it was the decision to adopt the "Hawk" moniker for yet another college sports team.
  17. UND's football did not sell for as much as UND's $1,450.00 hockey jersey. How much did NDSU's hockey jersey sell for?
  18. Player and (age): Tkachuck (18); Dvorak (19); Boeser (18); and Schmaltz (19), at the time of the WJC. Juxtaposing the exact same aged players against one another in an 18-20 year-old tournament doesn't prove anything about age. An 18-20 year-old tournament is not a useful tool to compare the CHL's 16-20 year-old players and the NCAA's 18-24 year old players.
  19. Hey, did you guys all know that Chris Kunitz started at LW in the 2014 Olympic gold medal game over Jamie Benn (second line) and Patrick Marleau (third line)!!!!! How is that possible?!?!?!? Chris Kunitz just must be better than Jamie Benn and Patrick Marleau as a matter of fact. #MJlogic
  20. Riiiight. This explanation makes even less sense. So now you're trying to claim that London's top line is better than UND's top line simply based on the fact that 2/3 of London's top line played on two separate lines apart from 2/3 of UND's top line during a bronze medal game in an international tournament. That would be like me trying to argue that Nick Schmaltz is better than Christian Dvorak because, in that same bronze medal game, Schmaltz had more points (3) than Dvorak.
  21. While I think it's great that you can admit that your comments about one international hockey tournament failed to provide any evidence that the CHL is better than the NCAA, I'll reiterate my earlier suggestion as a friendly reminder: please try to stay on point. The US U-20 team is not a CHL team.
  22. Bravo! Your argument that the CHL is better than the NCAA has now digressed to merely pointing out that two London Knights players were on two separate lines, which did not include any North Dakota players, at a brief international hockey tournament between 10 countries. Next time, try to stay on point, please. Thank you.
  23. Right. Like last season, for example, when BU randomly put in a cold goalie against the USNTDP halfway through the second period of an October exhibition game for no other reason than it being an October exhibition game. Coming in halfway through the game, the goalie only saved 10 of 15 shots. Go figure.
