  1. Thank you for being the voice of reason.
  2. The DVD is basically every episode of TTD strung together but edited down to an hour. With that understanding, I will let each individual decide if that is worth $25 plus shipping.
  3. Saw that. Strange. They might as well call it refundable earnest money instead of an application fee if they are going to just return it anyway. I'm also happy this was not a "yes" vote. The NCHC is not broken; there is no need to fix it with new teams.
  4. Dear Mankato and ASU, Thanks for the free $40k that your state's taxpayers gave to us! Love, NCHC
  5. Doesn't UND lease the Ralph, just like the Alerus? Regardless, if UND needs to make the Ralph available for women's sports wouldn't UND need to open the Alerus to other women's sports for the same reason?
  6. There seems to be a wide range of opinions on here from our Title IX experts. Are there any NCAA compliance officers that can clarify UND's standing on this issue? Just me speculating, but I'd think that dropping men's baseball and men's golf puts UND in a better position vis-a-vis Title IX than UND was at this time last year.
  7. In response, I would like to say, "no way could a university's administration be this incompetent by making uninformed decisions." But then again, we are taking about the folks at Twamley in this instance. So I guess it does not surprise me if this is true.
  8. Wow, I didn't realize women's hockey incurred that much in expenses! If UND stays in Big Sky, axing women's hockey seems to make a whole lot of sense from a saving's standpoint.
  9. Holy. Does women's hockey really lose over $1.4 million per season?!?!
  10. Wow. If I had a nickle for every time someone said that a new university was adding D-1 hockey, I might just have enough money to save both UND baseball and golf. But, alas, college hockey is still around the 60 teams it was 15 years ago. Don't expect that number to change much, if at all.
  11. No to Mankato for the same reason that it was no to Mankato in July 2011.
  12. B1G trying to convince NCHC to add ASU (if arena situation is ever resolved) and stay at 9 teams. On conference weekends, the odd B1G and NCHC teams would play. Brad Berry not in favor. He wants NCHC to add Mankato.
  13. Crab cakes and football . . . that's what Maryland does!
  14. I know they're coming off of a down year, but over the past 5 seasons, Minnesota has 5 conference championships, 2 frozen four appearances including a runner-up finish just two seasons ago. Outside of maybe a half dozen schools, every other team in college hockey would happily accept those results.
  15. You probably should have also pointed out that there is a difference of less than 1,000 tv homes between Duluth (163,560) and Bismarck (164,550) on that list. So statistically speaking, they're pretty much the same on that list. But, you certainly should have also pointed out that your list combines Bismarck with Minot, and Williston, and Dickinson. So, in other words, the 164,550 on your list represents the entire Western half of North Dakota, not just Bismarck. The city of Duluth has far more people and far more actual TV viewers than the city of Bismarck.
  16. Might as well. Looks like that is the path the conference is headed down. Either way, no one in the WCHA is getting better. Instead, the teams have conference schedules without the likes of North Dakota, Denver, Duluth, Minnesota, etc. That's why Mankato was able to win back-to-back WCHA championships. But we should also be mindful that after their first championship, they entered the NCAA tournament as the #1 overall seed and quickly lost to Rochester Institute of Technology. After their second championship, their season had already ended because the WCHA isn't good at hockey; i.e, they didn't even make the NCAA tournament. The poor play in the WCHA has been well documented this year.
  17. So the "National" basically will have turned out to be an excuse to dump three teams: Michigan Tech, Bemidji, and Anchorage. smh. And yes, I know the NCHC added Miami, WMU, and potentially ASU. But that is beside the point considering the "National's" supposed, original intention.
  18. No reason to water down the league. 8 is fine. Otherwise, it's increasingly clear that the WCHA should have just invited Miami and Western Michigan to replace Minnesota and Wisconsin. Instead, the NCHC will become the de facto old WCHA without any of the history and tradition.
  19. That's what impressed me the most about Toews' time at UND. Toews was still only 18 when he played his last game for the Sioux.
  20. And we can kindly remind the Gopher faithful that their last two championships would not have happened without a kid from Grand Forks, North Dakota and another from Austria, both of whom were responsible for the game-winning goals in the respective championship games.
  21. Never understood why Shaw was out there over Wolanin. I also think he'll have a real noticeable impact this year and step into the Genoway/Schmaltz/Stecher type of role UND has had the past 10 years.
  22. I didn't know that. Do you know the reason why Brien drew the artwork and how UND came about acquiring it for its logo?
  23. The resistance from fans started well before twitter existed and well before any current hockey player graduated high school.
  24. Yup, must be even nicer to keep both the interlocking ND and an ethnically based logo for their school.
