  1. Yes, the news that UND was unable to renegotiate what it claimed to be a favorable contract for itself.
  2. I think I'm following you, but its still not REA's fault that UND perpetually fails to renegotiate a favorable contract.
  3. The bigger crime Bucci should investigate is how the women's team managed to win not a single playoff game in its entire history.
  4. Yes, I am happy UND didn't have to pay a single dime for the REA's $105 million price tag that the Engelstads paid for instead. On the balance, UND saved anywhere from $10 to $105 million by not having to build a new hockey arena, and the impact that alone has had on other programs on campus has been an immeasurable success.
  5. I literally see dozens of posts on here every day contemplating the D-1 facilities arm race and the need for UND to improve its athletic facilities.
  6. Reason: a legal contract. But I'm glad you've now conceded that football ticket revenue does not belong to the football team nor would football ticket revenue have even gone to the football team in the absence of that "legal contract". Are you ready to stop accusing "Chris" from stealing from your football team now?
  7. So hockey should get what the hockey team earns, too? If that's the case, UND is going to lose a lot of other sports that hockey revenue helps subsidize. (Remember: these issues don't exist in a vacuum). And even if the ticket-split arrangement did not exist, the football ticket revenue would not go to the football team anyway; it would go to the athletic department, which then allocates money among the university's athletic programs.
  8. Is anyone preventing a privately funded upgrade of the football team's locker room like the men's hockey locker room upgrade was privately funded? What's stopping siouxperman8's football golf fundraisers from privately funding the football locker room renovation? Geez guys, the Nevada daughter of a 1940's UND hockey goalie can only fund so many athletic initiatives at a publicly funded school in North Dakota.
  9. Good points.
  10. And if Engelstad arena doesn’t exist, the school’s going to need to divert a helluva lot more than $345 per year to the hockey (men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and volleyball) programs just so they can find a place to play. UNDs entire athletic department is substantially better off because of the Engelstad’s and, whether you like it or not, the ticket split arrangement. The folks on here need to realize this ticket split agreement doesn’t exist in a vacuum.
  11. If football needs more money, the athletic department will allocate more funds to it. The athletic department determines how much money football gets irrespective of ticket revenue.
  12. Where do the men’s and women’s basketball teams play? Where does the volleyball team play? Where are the women’s soccer locker rooms? Is Queen McGarry supposed to build her dad’s alma mater a new, free football stadium, too?
  13. Most likely not. Seems like the majority prefer era-specific logos to exclusively the BB logo.
  14. PM me your friend's contact info, and I'll let him/her know . . . .
  15. I don't necessarily disagree, but it may be worth noting that the scoreboard has existed as long as the banners, which have historically inaccurate logos on them. More importantly, the settlement agreement terms contemplated the actions REA would have to follow in order for UND to host a post-season NCAA event there. Since the NCAA tournament is no longer hosted on campus sites (at least as of now), it makes no difference if the scoreboard is an item of historical significance, an item replaced in the ordinary course of wear, or an item not specifically addressed in the settlement agreement.
  16. Good question: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sites/default/files/Order for Judgement of Dismissal.pdf
  17. I gotcha. I was referring to go_sioux's reliance on "tradition" as the reason the football team never had to embrace the Fighting Sioux logo while simultaneously chastising REA for maintaining "tradition" as the reason it's not embracing the Fighting Hawk logo or, as he put it, refusing to cut the "cord".* * - thanks, Mafia.
  18. Has this been brought up to REA with respect to banners? I know REA added a bunch of old logos during the locker room renovation but would be cool to have the logos that existed at the time they won the banners.
  19. This is either top-notch trolling or ignorant hypocrisy.
  20. 1. Not enough Hawks logos; 2. Exploits our consumerist tendencies; 3. Too big (because we all come to watch the fans in the 300 level, of course); 4. No more 2003-era laser light show; and 5. No on-ice projection (apparently). Okay, what else can we point out that sucks about the scoreboard in the first 5 hours after the news release?
  21. Yup. I read that after I pointed it out yesterday.
  22. Yup. Was wondering why his name was included in the of UND commits on Dave Berger's January 21, 2019 tweet at 1:24 p.m. that UNDBIZ imbedded into this thread just 23 hours ago.
  23. Schlossman? That you?
  24. And keeping the sioux thing on your screen name. Cut the damn chord already.
