I don't necessarily disagree, but it may be worth noting that the scoreboard has existed as long as the banners, which have historically inaccurate logos on them. More importantly, the settlement agreement terms contemplated the actions REA would have to follow in order for UND to host a post-season NCAA event there. Since the NCAA tournament is no longer hosted on campus sites (at least as of now), it makes no difference if the scoreboard is an item of historical significance, an item replaced in the ordinary course of wear, or an item not specifically addressed in the settlement agreement.

I gotcha. I was referring to go_sioux's reliance on "tradition" as the reason the football team never had to embrace the Fighting Sioux logo while simultaneously chastising REA for maintaining "tradition" as the reason it's not embracing the Fighting Hawk logo or, as he put it, refusing to cut the "cord".* * - thanks, Mafia.

Has this been brought up to REA with respect to banners? I know REA added a bunch of old logos during the locker room renovation but would be cool to have the logos that existed at the time they won the banners.

This is either top-notch trolling or ignorant hypocrisy.

1. Not enough Hawks logos; 2. Exploits our consumerist tendencies; 3. Too big (because we all come to watch the fans in the 300 level, of course); 4. No more 2003-era laser light show; and 5. No on-ice projection (apparently). Okay, what else can we point out that sucks about the scoreboard in the first 5 hours after the news release?

Yup. I read that after I pointed it out yesterday.

Yup. Was wondering why his name was included in the of UND commits on Dave Berger's January 21, 2019 tweet at 1:24 p.m. that UNDBIZ imbedded into this thread just 23 hours ago.

Schlossman? That you?

And keeping the sioux thing on your screen name. Cut the damn chord already.

No kidding. What fan base immediately gets outraged when their (supposed) favorite athletic team gets a $6,000,000.00 scoreboard?

Yup. Was wondering why his name was included in the list of UND commits.

UND wore 58-59 replicas about 15-20 years ago. They didn't have a Sammy patch then. I suspect it might be the same this time around, unfortunately.

60th anniversary -
I’ll second that request and add Sammy (the green and white only) along with any of the old Blackhawk style logos. Always wanted to have some custom pucks made with the vintage logos.

Many seem to emphasize that it was McGarry, not UND or Kennedy, that went to the herald first and made this public. -

I agree with you there. Those are all fair questions to raise and points to make. -

Shell game is exactly right. UND needs to pay for the usage, services, and employees at the Ralph. Ticket revenue is simply the means through which UND pays for that. Take ticket revenue out of the equation, and UND needs to find some other source of money to pay for the usage, services, and employees at the Ralph. I understand you agree the funding for UND football is not tied exclusively to the football teams’ ticket revenue. The athletic department is going to allocate money to the football team regardless of the team’s ticket revenue. Others on here clearly don’t understand how any of this works. They actually portray it as the Ralph taking away money that the athletic department allocates to the football team. Changing the 52/48 breakdown or removing football ticket revenue from the usage agreement would do absolutely nothing to ensure more funding to the football program. -

This assumes all sports are funded through their respective ticket revenues. I have not read anything that would support that assumption, however. So why are some so concerned about 52% of football ticket revenue, when other sources of money fund football? -

So if football got 100% of ticket revenue, you’d be in favor of firing Bubba and replacing him with a top notch coach? Got it. -

So football is funded through other means than ticket sales---just like women's hockey was, which had no ticket sales. Since football is funded through other means than ticket sales, why all the hoopla about the Ralph getting the 52%? Serious question, folks. Please excuse my ignorance.
