You’re right. I learned from @siouxkid12 a page ago that Parise would have prevented the 2016 and 2017 Stanley Cup champions from winning anything at all, if he signed with them instead of Minnesota.
-
This is from 2015-2016. Parise was a free agent in 2012. If Parise (LW) signs in 2012, Pittsburgh never acquires Hagelin (LW) in 2015-2016 since Kunitz (LW) was Pittsburgh's other top-6 LW. There, that frees up $4 million. Also, since Pittsburgh signed Schultz in the 2015-2016 offseason for him to only play about 15 games, don't sign him either. That frees up another $4 million. I I could go on . . . but, pretty damn easy math to make both Parise and Kessel work for Pittsburgh. Again, someone on here claimed that Parise would not have been on any teams that won the Stanley Cup. Maybe that person just really hates Zach Parise, thinks he's a cancer, and could never win the Stanley Cup anywhere he goes. I was simply trying to point out that one of the teams that did, in fact, win the Stanley Cup had offered to sign Zach Parise to a contract in 2012. Sorry that this fact got you so bent out of shape. Have a good one.

You meant, "you're incorrect." You're welcome.

Kessel was traded to Pittsburgh for players from Pittsburgh's own draft pool and journeyman, Nick Spaling. Toronto also retained some of Kessel's salary making Kessel even more affordable wherever he was ultimately traded. Kessel to Pittsburgh was not some huge free agent signing; it was a trade. And since Pittsburgh would have had the trade assets even with Parise on the team, Pittsburgh could have still traded for Kessel. And, we get it; you're a Kessel fan. I'm more of a Parise-guy myself, though.

For sure. Hard for anyone to predict the future in an alternate realty. Who knows, maybe the Pens three-peat with Parise on their team? Anyway, I was just pointing out that Parise could have played for one of the teams that won the Stanley Cup in the mid-2010s.
-
Just cash. If I recall, Parise and Suter were both free agents. I think for Parise it was always between Minnesota and going back to NJ, though. I think Suter weighed Minnesota, Detroit, and returning to Nashville. But Pittsburgh definitely wanted and made offers to both.
-
Ray Shero and the Pens were putting the full court press on Parise and Suter during the summer of 2012; Parise and Suter weren't interested. Parise would have been a two-time Stanley Cup champion in Pittsburgh.

Adam Wodon attended Ithaca College, no? I know its close to Cornell, but this isn't horseshoes . . . .

Hard to believe UND’s current nickname was chosen by a whopping 15,000 people.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
Benny Baker replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
So most of the hockey players: — get their tuition paid; —receive the approx. $5k “cost of attendance” stipend for living expenses, travel, meals, etc.; —in addition to their $5,980 Alston/701 Award; —while being eligible to receive unlimited money from third-parties through NIL contracts; and —NOW, will be paid directly by the school? -
In the same 2013-14 season Adam Tambellini put up 0.25 pts/gm at UND, he was averaging 1.26 pts/gm in the WHL.

This is what I wonder, too ... ? There's a reason my young kids know Hockey East and ECAC rosters as well as the NCHC. And it's not because my North Dakota kids have an east coast bias, but every time they turn on the damn ESPN+ app on Friday night or Saturday afternoon/evening, it's plastered with east coast college hockey. And they watch it ... Maybe the NCHC would be better served getting some eyeballs on their product instead of having the exclusive, league-only app, even if the latter creates a better profit. I thought the NCHA was running a hockey league after all, not a streaming service.

The best North Dakota conference game I’ve ever been to was a Sunday afternoon game against a B10 opponent, FWIW.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Play Bemidji for the October exhibition. -
Yes; 93 was North, and 95 was South.

Thank you. That’s what I thought. Brianna Berry acknowledged UND owned the trademark before she did, transferred it to UND free of charge, and UND never paid anything to the Berrys. Outside of poor optics, the NODAK controversy was really a nothing burger. Berry was simply fired for his teams’ on ice performance (or lack thereof).
-
Did Brianna Berry sue UND to enforce any trademark ownership? Did she license the NODAK name to UND for an unfair deal, or any deal? Wondering how much the Berrys’ made, if any, off the trademark? I know the optics aren’t good, but I am genuinely curious.

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
Benny Baker replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
If true, here’s a chance for Jax to lay down the law early, and maybe the team moves on from said player before that player leaves the team. Also, it’ll be horrible optics for the new school that its new transfer player is receiving $100k after having been cut from his previous team. -
Yes. 37 points over 2 seasons has been rather underwhelming.
-
I remember not long ago, some folks on here were saying that Jayden Perron was proof that UND’s recruiting was as strong as anyone else’s. My how times have changed.

I never commented on his ability to pass the bar exam, but instead, only stated that it is hard to obtain licensure with a criminal record, which is not an accusation.
-
I certainly haven’t. Not how I was raised. If Brandon Boetcher flew someone to their preferred destination, should he be paid?
-
It’s hard to pass the character and fitness test and become a licensed attorney when you have a criminal record for theft.

Any one have Purple Cows winning their regional? Mankato has not lost since January. Goalie’s save percentage is .945% and his worst performance this season was 3 goals (5 times). 32 other games allowing just 0, 1, or 2 goals.
-
Sad reality is that UND has been GUARANTEED home regional games every other year for the past decade. This season. Again in 2027. And 2028. Too bad they don’t take advantage…
