  1. Ausmus and Hrynkiw are the two lone seniors next year.
  2. While I understand the effect this has on American pilots and that Norwegian Air is not piloted by Norwegians, UND Aviation has trained Asian pilots for decades, since at least the early 1990s. That's nothing knew. Kent Lovelace is not employed by the DOT. So, perhaps there is a better tree to bark at?
  3. I suppose he feels comfortable signing now that Vancouver has bolstered their defensive core. BC might have a few others leave early too! But, wow, they've taken a major hit already!
  4. I think this is the best bet at this point. Rip the video off of youtube or DVR and make your own DVD. But like the OP says, it definitely would be cool to have something "official" with more extras and a year-in-review segment.
  5. I wouldn't doubt that for a second. I hope it or something similar happens to commemorate #8.
  6. My apologies then.
  7. Yup. Although highlight videos are fun, a more thorough recap of the season with some substance would be cool too!
  8. Given how close Thompson was to leaving last year, which would have been even more odd, I have to speculate that he or someone (advisor, Anaheim mgmt, etc) did not want him to continue at UND.
  9. I agree. Like I said, I don't disagree with anyone's opinion of Dilks. It certainly started with the Big 10, and Denver, UND, and Notre Dame kept the ball rolling.
  10. Correct. There are many nuances to licensing intellectual property, and particularly college sports events where there are numerous interested parties: universities, conferences, leagues, broadcasters, etc. Like I said, I haven't seen the licensing agreement(s) between ESPN, NCAA, NCHC, UND, etc. I was just trying to answer another poster's question about a DVD of the championship game. If you want to actually learn about those nuances in the context of the national title game instead of trolling your way through a legit thread, I suggest you contact ESPN's licensing department: http://disneystudiolicensing.com/who-do-i-contact-regarding-licensing-materials-from-espn-or-abc-sports/ Someone at UND should also be able to confirm this for you.
  11. That'd be awesome! A lot of great games and plays this year. In hindsight, I wish I could have sat back and enjoyed it a little more while it happened! Although I have my fingers crossed, I doubt we see too many (dare I say any) more 34-win seasons at UND.
  12. Correct. It also is not played one single time in front of a live audience.
  13. Yup, they're going to be in that new hockey conference with Minot St., Moorhead St., and the other flavor(s) of the month ready to jump to D-1 hockey! But in all seriousness, with some coaching credibility and as a private school, perhaps Jamestown is in a better position to make a jump in college athletics unlike the rest of North Dakota's public universities, apparently.
  14. Let me use this example. If you filmed the discovery of Big Foot, you might not have a problem with an acquaintance showing that video to a limited number of viewers. On the other hand, you likely would have a problem with that acquaintance selling copies of that video to the entire general public for profit. Licensing agreements are not one in the same, some are limited, some are exclusive, some are of a limited timeframe. I'm speculating here: either ESPN granted a limited license or simply did not care that UND showed a video of the game during a championship celebration. However, if anyone plans to market and sell DVDs of the ESPN broadcast to the general public for an expected profit, that person would be wise to speak with and obtain a license before using ESPN's footage.
  15. Correct.
  16. Right. And I noticed from the last Through These Doors, that the actual ESPN broadcast was not used, which leads me to believe that ESPN did/would not grant UND a license to use that footage.
  17. I don't disagree with anyone's opinion of Dilks, but I do share the same consternation he has over the fact that college hockey was, indeed, "blown up" for minimal TV revenue in a niche sport.
  18. Everyone ignores Jan.
  19. Thompson's relatively young, too. If he stays, Thompson won't turn 21 until a month before his senior season starts. Paul LaDue was already 21 when his freshman year started.
  20. I have to shake my head at those who like to extrapolate one message board post in order to ridicule people as "having nothing better to do." Kind of like this: "The Sioux win a national title and some of our fans have nothing better to do than criticize people who post about that very national championship game??? Are you kidding me?"
  21. I also think the poorly executed nickname committee/selection process has a lot to do with it. I'm starting to think the "Sioux Forever" chants have as much to do with the Sioux nickname as they do with sticking it to the man/UND administration for the completely transparent bungled nickname selection process they offered to the public. Even if it is exclusively about the "Sioux" nickname, I would agree that UND could not have come up with a more underwhelming name than "Hawks". Go figure there is so little fan support.
  22. I'd have to agree that he did, indeed, have an impact in the game. I suppose his presence (laying) on the ice helped QU get a 5-3 power play and, in a way, QU's lonely goal. He certainly may be a dynamic player, but he sure is no national champion.
  23. No. Contrary to some popular opinion, HIPAA only applies to insurers, clearinghouses, and medical providers who electronically transfer certain health information of insureds/patients. It does not apply to writers, reporters, journalists, and just about anyone else who has knowledge of one's medical condition.
  24. Very true. No reason to be on the ice if you need to go to the dressing room multiple times in the first period alone. No reason to risk greater injury, no reason to risk your career, and no reason to risk being a liability on the ice and leaving your team with a short bench during the championship game.
  25. Beautiful goal no doubt, but what does this have to do with his injury? I mean, my god, if he's playing I would hope that he can coast to the net and flip a backhand during an uncontested 2-1! He stopped moving his feet at the blue line! Show me a video where he's battling deep down in the corners, making body checks, or where his shoulder injury put him in a vulnerable position. I can show you some of those videos, and spoiler alert: it ends with Anas in his locker room. A better comparison would be "Do you play Mike Gornall or Chris Wilkie at 100% or Boeser at 50%, assuming Boeser will miss multiple shifts being treated in the locker room and forcing your team to play with a short bench at certain times throughout the game?"
