  1. In case Brad Berry and the hockey team collectively change their mind to Roughriders.
  2. I trust you both realize that the particular poster "revealed" that information in posts he wrote during the past 2-3 months. I'm glad, we're in agreement that no forum rules have been broken here. Thanks, guys.
  3. And by the way, I forget to mention, I completely agree with your lemonade comment in the other thread. When life gives you lemons . . . . That state legislator obviously doesn't know how to apply a great euphemism.
  4. Merely stating one's age, type of dwelling, and his admission that he trolls people on the internet is not an attack.
  5. Ain't that right, UNDBIZ? Lost at your own game. Sounds like Jim needs to find a semi-decent moderator to replace you. - Moderators
  6. Dude, I think his point was to ask people to stop engaging in false rhetoric that attacks other peoples' nickname choices. In other words, stop bringing up Roughrider condoms as a reason we shouldn't vote for Roughriders just like stop referring to Nodaks as Nodiks. But good job proving his point . . . even though you were attempting to attack him.
  7. Coming from someone who voted for Roughriders: This is an outstanding post. I'm embarrassed for those criticizing others who support Nodak or any other name. Look, we were all handed 5 shytty nickname options when we compare them to the Fighting Sioux. As for the vocal Roughrider crowd, three months ago, you were all about respecting the process and taking the hand that was dealt in stride. Now that the early frontrunner "Roughriders" is threatened, you're accusing Nodak voters of trying to sabotage and harm UND. That sort of rhetoric is downright ridiculous. We were given five options; stop accusing voters for voting on their favorite.
  8. This is too funny! It was only a few months ago that Hayduke and the other half dozen of you repeatedly chastised the "no nickname crowd" for not respecting the process when North Dakota was dropped as an option. Now you're chastising the no nickname crowd for respecting and taking part in the process. Too bad "Fighting Hypocrites" wasn't a nickname option for you guys. I'm glad the six of you, jdub and fightingsundogs4life included, are finally realizing that this nickname process definitely has not lived up to its potential.
  9. The lawsuit will proceed. The judge denied the restraining order on the grounds that the plaintiff's have an adequate remedy at law if they prevail in the lawsuit; i.e., the new nickname would be invalidated. I do not foresee this lawsuit succeeding, but I think there is some level of merit to the argument about the legislature having authority to determine the school's nickname. Reasonable minds can certainly dispute this, but after all, the legislature certainly has had a hand in determining UND's nickname (or lack thereof) over the past few years.
  10. Judge Olson has denied Plaintiff's motion for a temporary restraining order. The vote will continue; however, the lawsuit will still proceed.
  11. But the largest newspaper in the state perceives the word "North Stars" to be some sort of angelic figure that apparently just came up with a really great idea. We shouldn't let one Sunday editorial cartoon dictate UND'S new nickname.
  12. Just like I've discovered that may who want UND's #newnickname to be Fighting Hawks think it's 2nd best to staying Fighting Sioux. Voters have five options and many of them have a reason for the name they're selecting. What a profound concept!
  13. Prognostication. 88 -- University of North Dakota Nodaks.
  14. So you troll people on the internet all day. Bravo, buddy.
  15. I agree with your last comment/question, but the TRO request is likely just to prevent UND from doing anything further regarding the nickname. TROs are pretty easy to obtain but they expire after 28 days. So even if plaintiffs are successful on the TRO, they'll still need to have the court grant a preliminary injunction within 28 days after the TRO to continue to hold off the vote.
  16. "in the spring session of 2011, the North Dakota legislature definitive (sic) exercise total control over the name selection process for the nickname of UND. Despite the repeal of that law, the subsequent law enacted in December of 2011, again demonstrated that the North Dakota legislature definitely exercised total control over the name selection process and prohibited the selection of another name until 2015. Because the name selection process for UND is reserved to the legislature, the BHE, UND, and Defendant Kelley are without authority to act to change the name."
  17. Plaintiffs allege that "the Board of Higher Education ("BHE"), UND, and Defendant Kelley administered the legislatures' directive regarding the December 2011 law." I assume they mean November.
  18. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3862671-breaking-lawsuit-filed-stop-und-nickname-vote The plaintiffs in the new nickname lawsuit have requested a temporary restraining order to prevent UND from moving forward with next week's nickname vote. The plaintiffs allege (1) that only the legislature has the authority to adopt a new nickname for a state university; (2) that President Kelley, as a state actor, acted in an arbitrary and capricious manner thereby violating the equal protection rights of North Dakota citizens; (3) that Kelley and the Task Force violated open meeting laws; and (4) that UND breached its "contract" with the Sioux Native Americans. Let the saga continue . . . ?
  19. Anyone know how to upload a file on here bigger than 0.98 mb?
  20. Complaint also alleges violations of equal protection under North Dakota constitution; violation of opens meeting act; breach of contract; and promissory estoppel.
