Would be nice to steal one from Bohl. Especially at a position of need.

Philip Nelson leaving Minnesota football program

Holy crap the usual UND/NDSU pissing match has now added Gopher fans. This must be a special circle of hell. -

Neither were coordinators before their first NFL coordinator jobs. -

At the times of their first NFL coordinator jobs Gruden was 32 and Tomlin was 34. -
Those projections just take the conference leader as the auto-bid. Generally not a lot of thought put into the single bid conferences.

I was told he missed some kind of deadline.

Yes. Just like Dyer for the women this year.
-
Looked like a tight end or tall outside linebacker. Gotta think he was a transfer. Looked more developed physically than a high school senior.
-
My source did say he'd go to Minnesota if admitted but at this point it'd have to be a Shobert to Wisconsin situation but even later in the game since he's already in Grand Forks.

Weber State (5-6, 2-1) @ UND (5-8, 2-1)

The two prayer 3's to beat the shot clock have been daggers. Two great defensive possessions that ended in 6 points. -
Did NDSU offer out of high school?
-
I was told as of last night he was not able to get in to Minnesota.

Source is good. He'll be in classes this week.

Shanks is enrolling in the spring. We'll have him for the Big Sky season next year.

That's what's puzzled me about our defense the last few seasons. It almost looks like they're playing a prevent cover 2. Cushions on receivers are fine if you're playing a 3 deep zone with a safety stepping up and linebackers in the flats but they were often giving those big cushions with two high safeties. It essentially left underneath routes wide open and is a pretty awful alignment to blitz out of. The 3-4 defense is meant to manufacture pressure and confuse the blockers, forcing quarterbacks and running backs to make decisions under duress. The problem is that when you run the type of coverage on the back end that we have been it makes those decisions very easy when receivers running hot routes are given room to do whatever they want. I want to see corners right up in the grills of opposing receivers and linebackers blitzing from multiple angles. On offense I want to see heavy doses of Shaugaby and Sharp with Dustin Iverson leading the way.

Either that or UNC is gonna run away with it. -
Contacting recruits who have verbally comitted elsewhere

Like it or not a D1 coach who gives up after a verbal is at a disadvantage. -
Won 24-0 over Sac St to open the season. Stomped by Minnesota, Utah State, and Stanford out of conference. Ended the season on a high note beating Derek Carr and Fresno State. Fales attempted all but a handful of their passes so they'll be breaking in a new quarterback. Under normal circumstances I'd say this would be a good opportunity for our first FBS win but with the loss of our most productive offensive weapons I won't have my hopes up too high.

Buried on a pretty loaded running back depth chart for the Huskers. Can't see him unseating Crockett but should make for a solid combo with Morlock once Crockett's graduated.

CBS John Feinstein Sports Minute - laugh or cry

Official game programs from the NCAA listed North Dakota State right next to the logo they said we couldn't use. Lots of boos for Mark Emmert that weekend. -
I like the black jerseys but they're much better suited as an alternate. Green jerseys that actually match the helmets should be the home colors for 90% of home games.
-
Or we'd just use our handy dandy indoor practice facility.

That clause in his contract was never going to be enforceable. The timing of Bohl's announcement and the fact that he was allowed to stay throughout the playoffs were both pretty terrible situations for NDSU. If Taylor hadn't been able to convince Klieman to take the job they'd be up !@#$ creek without a coaching staff.
