If it takes till year 4 to make a run at .500 then I'll consider Bubba a pretty epic failure.
-
That would be a huge get if we can get him here. Cupboard's gonna be pretty bare on the front line next year.
-
I'm aware of that but he still took a chance to move up after 5 years in a position. I'm guessing as a defensive assistant at D2 school he didn't have too many opportunities to move up. That changed when he had success as a DC and he left when he had a chance. I don't think Bubba is necessarily any more loyal than Deboer would be.
-
He was DC for 5 years before bolting to UMD. What am I missing here? Seems like loyalty shouldn't be a deciding factor.
-
Hasn't Bubba already bolted after having some success? Why would it be any different this time around? Regardless, that should not be a factor. If the guy we hire is so successful that he has a chance to move up to a bigger job then UND football will be in a much better place than it is today and that's all we can ask out of our head coach.
-
I'm hoping it's Deboer unless there's a surprise finalist. That 65-3 record at Sioux Falls is pretty damn impressive. He could be a classic example of being a better head coach than coordinator. Use the expanded staff budget to bring in a good defensive coordinator and let's get this program back on track.
-
If it's Deboer, which I'd be fine with, I'd like to see him go outside the box for his staff and not just a carbon copy of his USF staff.

Wristen is definitely someone I want Faison to be in contact with. I was pumped to hear EMU went in a different direction after he was rumored to be a favorite. You want a program builder? He literally built a program from nothing. In 6 seasons since re-starting football he's gone 4-6, 7-4, 9-2, 11-1, 12-1, and 11-1. They've gone undefeated in their conference each of the last three seasons. Wristen is a guy I want very badly.

Portland State Football - "must be fiscally self-sufficient"
WeAreNorthDakota replied to The Sicatoka's topic in NCAA News
Faison has to look at all those empty seats in the Alerus and see the potential for a lot more money to be coming through the door. The marketing and sales side has improved in the last few years, the IPF is going to be a shot in the arm, and a healthy bump in coach salaries are some great steps in the right direction. We're not very far away from being a top tier FCS football program. Faison needs to make a home run hire that can energize both the guys in the locker room and the fans. The potential is there, we just need to fulfill it. -
NAIA assistants who came into our house and punched us in the mouth without a single player on scholarship.

How sure are we that it was an HR point system that determined a list of 9 candidates? Has anyone confirmed this besides gfhockey when he was drunk on $1 tequila?

According to his bio on SIU's website his team broke the school record for offensive yards in a single game in 2012, breaking the previous record set in 2010 which was DeBoer's first season as OC. Per the Missouri Valley's stats here are the rankings and offensive statistics for DeBoer's 4 years at SIU and the 2 years prior to his arrival. 2013 4th in MVFC in scoring at 28.5 ppg 3rd in MVFC in total offense at 384.9 ypg 2012 7th in MVFC in scoring at 22.5 ppg 8th in MVFC in total offense at 295.9 ypg 2011 6th in MVFC in scoring at 25.7 ppg 3rd in MVFC in total offense at 377.8 ypg 2010 5th in MVFC in scoring at 30.1 ppg 7th in MVFC in total offense at 378.2 ypg 2009 1st in MVFC in scoring at 34 ppg 3rd in MVFC in total offense at 394.8 ypg 2008 4th in MVFC in scoring at 29.6 ppg 6th in MVFC in total offense at 356 ypg

Timing doesn't look right with the Bears still in contention. If they were already eliminated I would have more hope
-
Love the triple option offense but I don't think I can think of a worse offense for our current roster.
-
Would be a step up from OC at Weber but I think he'd take the open HC job at Weber over OC here.

1. If Faison felt a verbal reprimand was all that was necessary at the time I don't think he would feel it necessary to alert the press. When a more serious incident occured, UND sent out a press release disclosing the punishment. There is and was no cover up attempt. 2. You have no idea whether or not Hardee has been driving the team since his initial DUI. 3. The verbal warning was absolutely serious. He warned that if another incident happened he would be gone. He was gone 3 days after the incident. He followed through exactly as he warned. I have no issue with the way Faison handled the DUI in 2012 and I have no issue with how he's dealt with the aftermath of the incident in Portland. I do have an issue with the lack of prevention of the incident. I want more information about what Faison knew regarding the status of Hardee's license. There is a ton of possible variation about who is at fault here. It could be that Faison was negligent, it could be a lower level member of the athletic department, it could be that Hardee lied to Faison and duped a rental car agency. There are too many variables for me to be calling for Faison's head just yet but it's not outside the realm of possibility.
-
Hardee's contract was extended in July of 2012 but you already knew that because you know how to operate the interwebs.
-
The Beck thing happened this summer (2013) and Hardee's DUI was in June of 2012. Nice try though.
-
Faison handled the DUI situation internally and gave Hardee an ultimatum. 3 days after another incident surfaced, Hardee is gone. The only issue here is who allowed Hardee's lack of a driver's license to slip through the cracks. When that becomes clear there will be more repercussions.
-
No. I specifically said it didn't surprise me.
-
I was working very closely with the athletic department and specifically the volleyball team at the time of Hardee's DUI. This is the first I've heard of it. Not surprised it never made it to the press.
-
Pflugrad appears to be the only legitimate candidate among the new applicants. Leader in the clubhouse IMO.
-
I love Hardee but if alcohol was involved he needs to be gone. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
-
He's definitely worth an interview and some digging into what went down in Missoula.
-
Pflugrad would appear to be the first serious candidate to apply. Looking forward to seeing other promising names released in the next week.
