Much different situation than losing our coordinator on defensive side. Kotelnicki was a pretty easy choice to fill that spot but I don't think we really have a candidate for promotion on the offensive side of the ball. Although this would theoretically open the QB coach spot open for Freund to fill.

Where is the Big Sky conference meet held? Will the IPF be a facility that will be capable of hosting an event like that?
-
I've never posted a pic on here but I'll give it a shot when I get home to my laptop.

Here's my non-conference wish list for next year (including games we already know about) vs NDSU vs SDSU vs Omaha vs Denver/USD/Great West team/Green Bay/Milwaukee @ Bowling Green @ UMKC (assuming we have a return trip) @ Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa @ MWC or MVC team (Creighton, UNI, SDSU, Wyoming, New Mexico, Wichita St) @ Big 12 team (Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa St, Texas) @ Denver/USD/Green Bay/Milwaukee Pick and choose from that list and we've got one hell of a schedule. My reasoning on having a Great West team at home is that I'd much rather see Utah Valley or Houston Baptist over Presentation or Crown again. I despise those games especially when you're jumping between teams like that and Kansas State and NDSU/SDSU and then jumping into conference play.

Big Sky Tourney Format: 2012-13
WeAreNorthDakota replied to weberwildcat's topic in Men's Basketball
Big Sky tourney in Vegas at the same time as the MWC and PAC-12 tourneys? Sign me up. -
Muss has tweeted a few "in progress" pics. The lockers themselves are a major upgrade. Excited to see the final product.

I'd be more than happy to if they're open.

The CBI may traditionally get the better teams but it's not like there's any prestige involved with winning either. It's an extra home game and extra revenue for the host teams and more opportunity for game experience for any team invited to either. Also, if the choice was between going on the road in the CBI and hosting in the CIT I'd take hosting every day of the week. I don't read much into which teams get invited to which tournaments outside the dance and the NIT.

A win would be huge for the confidence going into next year. We've struggled mightily on the road out of conference the last few years but a win at UNI would get the monkey off our backs before next season even starts.

Anybody know if spring practices are open like fall camp practices? Would love to brave the cold and go get a look at the guys.

Player I'm most excited to see? All of them. I need a football fix.

Big Sky Semi-Final v. Weber St.
WeAreNorthDakota replied to bincitysioux's topic in Men's Basketball
Really sucks to lose that one but it was fun to finally watch this team at full strength. With nearly everyone coming back, next year is going to be a blast if we can stay a little healthier than this year. -
I'm guessing the NCAA is OK with us not having a nickname somewhat because of the 2015 requirement from the legislature. If we go too far beyond 2015 without a nickname I'm guessing we'll get a call from the NCAA but that's just my guess.

Big Sky tourney on Thursday night. Friday night in person at the Ralph. Saturday men's hockey on TV and HOPEFULLY men's basketball in the Big Sky 'ship.

Big Sky Scores, Stats, & Standings
WeAreNorthDakota replied to dakotadan's topic in Men's Basketball
Not the Big Sky but a couple common opponents that we're pretty familiar with. SDSU leading NDSU 29-25 at halftime of the Summit Championship. -
Like I said, I know it's a longshot but even a 1.5% chance is infinitely better than the 0% chance we've had for, oh, the entire history of UND basketball.
-
Ward being out is huge if we end up meeting them in the 'ship. He absolutely killed us inside and out in the game in GF.

I think it just hit me that we're 3 wins away from the NCAA FREAKING TOURNAMENT! MARCH MADNESS! ONE OF THE BIGGEST EVENTS IN SPORTS!!!! Now, I know we're a pretty big long shot but this is finally D1. This is what it was all about. This is why the god awful transition, the disaster that was the Great West, the lackluster attendance and excitement about the basketball program, the losses to Mayville freaking State. This is about as excited as I've ever been for UND basketball, and pretty close to as excited as I've ever been for UND sports in general. GO UND!

I believe there are two games of each. A pair of 8/9 type games and a pair of 16 seed team type games. We would very likely be in one of the First Four games if we pull an upset in the tourney.

Going into today's games, Gabe Rogers (NAU) led the Big Sky in scoring with an in-conference average of 20.5 ppg. Huff was 2nd with 20.0 ppg and Jackson Stevenet (SUU) was 3rd with 19.9 ppg. Huff was held under his average today with 15 points but Montana held Rogers to just 3 points and we held Stevenet to just 7. Haven't yet done the math but it looks like Troy Huff is going to take the Big Sky scoring title.

Umm they actually have 2 locations. In the Blockbuster/Ski & Bike Shop strip and on Gateway east of the cemetery.

NoDak Nation would be the group to follow for student fan buses. I'm guessing we'll need to see significantly bigger student turnouts at home games before they do a fan bus for basketball unless we get a game at Minnesota. For football they'd be pretty long trips for conference game (Montana State the closest at 13 hours) but you may see trips to SDSU or USD in the future if student interest in football continues to grow like it did this year.

North Dakota @ Mankato - who wins the cup??
WeAreNorthDakota replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
AmericaOne is the service used by Big Sky TV. Feeds are completely dependent on the school's capabilities. Feeds for Montana State and Montana football were TV quality broadcasts as well as football and basketball for NAU but there were some stinkers also. No idea what Mankato has for video capabilities but there's a chance it could be good. -
Only place I imagine would be decent would be Marcos. Don't know if it's good or even if they have deep dish but Rhombus, Deeks, Popolinos, and the big chains don't have anything special in the deep dish category so Marcos is really all that's left.

I think Troy's a lock for Big Sky first team and he's got a great shot at Big Sky Player of the Year. He's the only player to be player of the week 3 times. He's .1 ppg away from the scoring lead, he's 5th in the conference in rebounds (1st on his team) and he leads the conference in steals per game.
