  1. They need a spark Time for the Nick Gordon Era to start.
  2. 19 credits is heavy for a regular session, let alone a summer session. However, given that some classes are 7 week classes and others are all summer, online classes, etc... I suppose its plausible.
  3. hell why not.... couldn't hurt
  4. Looks like Geno has his Gopher opening.....
  5. I will continue to say this but Faison did not do Jones and the program any favors with how they handled his contract. We can argue about his coaching ability but the previous administration did not help his situation at all. They never should have made him a lame duck: either find the money to buy him out and hire a new staff or find the money to have extended him. Imagine if they had just done a 3 year extension at 120k after the 15-16 season, how much more would that have really cost the department...… Don't give me budget constraints, they could have found the money if they really, really tried.
  6. wrong direction… the TRUE NORTH is what you are looking for.
  7. Me thinks that this is going to be a "go back to the way things were" approach.
  8. Mankato's FB stadium is about 50 years old, so it would be an excuse to.... Actually, the Iron Lady said it best about adding any NSIC school to the Summit: No... No... No
  9. Truthfully, this lawsuit is about 15 months too late. It should have been filed about a week after the sport was cut and gotten the swim team to join in on it. This is a long shot of long shots. There are no winners yes, but what do they care? Do they really lose anything by not doing this? Fundraising? They could have asked 1 person to do it and it would have been done (because $60 million is chump change to a billionaire) Even if the program got brought back, then what? It just says to reinstate the program... it doesn't say how.
  10. So are they saying UND violated the dreaded Prong 3 of Title IX? The lawsuit alleges that UND violated Title IX through the selection of sports and level of competition. Title IX does not require schools to offer particular sports or the same sports, but it requires that schools “effectively accommodate” student interests and abilities.
  11. re-instatement of the program. How they can do that by this idk... the OCR report should make this an open and shut case.
  12. I am curious on what their end game is on this...…. How much does the OCR report impact their case?
  13. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/4459551-former-und-womens-hockey-players-file-discrimination-suit This might needs its own thread
  14. If you want a silver lining, outside of SDSU, can you tell me who the 2nd best team in that conference is? The gap between 1 and 2 is larger between 2 and 8 (I have Omaha pegged dead last). I just have far too many questions about this team to put them any higher. Maybe they do come together, the freshman bigs are as advertised, Marlon and Cortez take big steps and it leads them to a top half finish. SDSU is going to buzzsaw through this season, I wouldn't be shocked if they run the table in conference play.
  15. The USD game was awful, but nothing will ever top Sioux Falls.
  16. I'm going to move away from Geno for a bit and focus on the current roster for this post. With Geno gone, it means that, more than likely, that Marlon and Cortez will lock down the 1 and 2 spots in the lineup. Could be beneficial to Cortez has he will be playing his natural position at the 2. Brown and Moody, I would suspect, would back them up with Panoam taking the minutes that Tray had last year. What will be interesting now is who will start at the 3 spot in the line up. Jones MO has been to play 3 guards, (Webb/Anderson/Huff, Q/Geno/Corey, Geno/Marlon/Seales). What I would like to see is either Saddler or McCauley get the nod to start and whoever doesn't will back him up. It would be a better lineup over starting Brown (which I have a bad inkling in the pit of my stomach that Jones is going to lean in that direction to stick with his traditional 3 guards who can handle the ball). Nothing changes at the 4/5 spots in the lineup. Jal and Avants start, Marko and Walter back them up. This means that the incoming players need to be more than ready to contribute IMMEDIATELY and now puts more pressure on Marlon and Seales to have big summers to be ready to lead this team. Marlon and Seales better be ready and comfortable shooting 3's. Right now this is a midpack to lower Summit league team. Too many question marks at the forward spot outside of Avants and you don't easily replace what Geno brought to the table.
  17. Starters: Marlon Cortez Saddler Jal Avants Bench: Walter Brown Marko McCauley Moody
  18. Pretty sure he doesn't need to fly to Gamble Hall to discuss it with you. About a 5 minute walk will do.
  19. Ben Johnson connection if that is the case.
  20. Starters: Geno Marlon Cortez Jal Avants Bench: Walter Brown Marko Saddler McCauley Moody
  21. The losses (transfer-wise) were minimal: Tray was the best of the bunch but he was inconsistent and lost time towards the end, Jafar didn't get much time as well. They were always going to have a hard time getting quality minutes due to the glut at the guard position, only to get worse with the addition of Moody and McCauley. Don't know how Panoam will be able to crack the rotation, other than being a Tray replacement, this year. Saddler might be a different story due to his size, out of those two I expect him to get way more of the minutes. Franken was also buried at the back of the bench, despite UNDs issues at the post position. Jal and Marko, I expect, will be playing day 1 and I expect Jal to be starting with Marko getting minutes behind Avants/Jal. Schmidt probably redshirts, but wouldn't be surprised if he didn't. I do think the team got better because most of the transfer losses were already in a position of strength for this year. The replacements were targeted in areas where the team was the weakest. How much better will depend on the bigs. Outside of Avants, none of them are proven communities. Walter has shown flashes but has not been consistent enough to be a proven community. McCauley is a huge unknown after not playing the whole season basically. Jal, Marko, and Lucas are unknowns until they step on the court. Looking at tape is nice but until they actually see game action, there will be several questions. I wish this was a year they did a foreign trip, much like the 15-16 year, they would benefit from it tremendously.
