Athletics gives a large boost to student recruitment. Student recruitment results in higher enrollment. Higher enrollment results in more money (other than at NDSU and DSU, where the students from outside the tri-state area all get tuition waivers). More money results in the ability to provide a better education. I hope I made it clear enough for you LakesDave. Oh, and putting LOL and a smiley at the end of your post isn't fooling anyone. We all know being proven wrong makes you angry (one of the reasons I enjoy it so much).

All the NCAA would have to do is look at the attendance of "neutral-site" regionals outside of MSP to see that this policy is not very good for the fans and there isn't much tremendous happening (off the ice at least). However, I suppose it is more fair to play in front of an empty building than it is to play in front of a partisan crowd....

You're right. Also, per NC$$ sanctions, UND currently isn't eligible to host regionals anywhere (if they wanted to host one at the X or Scheels arena or something crazy).

I'm beginning to think a UND-NDSU football game isn't worth having to deal with bizun fans. Just the mention of possible dates for a home and home has them flooding over here to remind us of how much they don't care about UND (regardless of how many threads Bville has on us).

If I'm remembering correctly, I believe attorney fees were near $1 million by the time the settlement with the NCAA was reached to give UND 3 years to get SL and SR's permission to use the name. SR still refuses to give permission....

What's the point? It's not about that anymore. It's about doing what is best for UND and the state of ND.

Are you incapable of separating a national championship from playing UND?? Again, the 2 are NOT mutually exclusive. I know it's difficult for NDSU students to think about 2 things at once, but it is possible to do both.

You did say that, but then you continued on with your line of how the National Championship is more important. I agree it's more important, but the 2 aren't mutually exclusive. If you're "not saying playing UND would've kept NDSU from winning the national championship," then why would you even bring it up?

NDSU had more scholarships so in UND's view, it wouldn't have been fair competition. I guess I didn't realize a national championship and a UND-NDSU game were mutually exclusive. Ahh.... the stupidity of bizun "logic."

That's what I was thinking. I don't think it looks bad or anything, it just seemed odd.

Not that it's a big deal or anything, but is it normal for both "Betty Engelstad Sioux Center" logos to be facing the same direction? I realize they both face the press box this way, but I figured they'd want the one on the far side to face the crowd on that side. All things considered I think the floor looks pretty nice though....
