  1. Perhaps the perception pushed by fargo media isn't reality....
  2. State appropriations are on a 2-year budget cycle, so it's entirely possible the Forum is just bad at giving information. Institutional support would also include tuition and fee revenue.
  3. I'm glad I'm not the only one looking at those numbers and thinking 1+1=potato at ndsu. Almost gives the impression ol deano threw out the 40% number in an attempt to cut off any calls for deeper cuts to athletics. But he wouldn't lie, would he?
  4. The state gives each institution a lump sum amount based on an academic "credits completed" formula. How the colleges/universities prioritize/allocate that money is up to them.
  5. https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/und/EN/buy/details/17FBALL For actual seats, section 215 looks like it's probably the best available. Still good seats there. Being up high isn't too big an issue in a stadium the size of the Alerus, and in fact may help to see over the student section, which should usually be standing. I too like standing on the catwalks at the end, but standing the entire game isn't for everybody.
  6. Arnell was denied a medical redshirt by the NCAA, so he's done.
  7. Just to be contrarian or do you actually like it?
  8. The Rough Riders fought the Spanish army (as in the Spain of Europe) in part to free Cuba from Spanish rule. Cavalries (warriors on horseback) have been around for millenia. Altering/omitting history to identify them simply as "white men on horseback shooting at minorities" is pretty weak.
  9. Because they'd rather have the "company" make money?
  10. And Title IX would not allow UND to sponsor men's hockey, basketball and football with just women's basketball and volleyball, as that would not be equitable.
  11. Well that would be great, but obviously the NCAA and Title IX wouldn't allow it. The key is to minimize financial losses in the sports not named in your post.
  12. If there are enough upsets in other 1-bid conference tournaments, the BSC winner could certainly move up.
  13. Nope, and they still make more money than WIH.
  14. It's been proven several times that GF is just a UND men's hockey town. Look at the attendance for the U-18 tournament last spring. Look at attendance for the state high school tournament. Men's club hockey is an even better alternative to people that can't afford tickets to the varsity men's games. Student athlete opportunities matter for Title IX and for enrollment, which affects revenue all across campus. Women's swimming and diving generates more revenue than women's hockey.
  15. Sure, it's the best chance, on paper, to win a "tournament" game. And yes, there aren't many games on at that same time, but personally, I've never watched a play-in game before. Also, in the brackets that are filled out by everyone, if they even list the play-in teams that might play the #1 seed, you're listed as a slash with the other play-in team in the real first round, because nobody really cares about those play-in games.
  16. If you don't make the field of 64, did you really even make the tournament? Public perception and potential for exposure say no.
  17. UND beat the best team out of the 3.
  18. When that team goes 2-5 in non-conference play and loses to Northern Arizona, yes.
  19. Reminder that it would've been nice to get those early season wins against North Florida and Wright State. Not $h*tting the bed against ndsu at home, Portland State, and Northern Arizona would've helped as well.
  20. If they win the next 3 games, I'd say it's just about guaranteed.
  21. Meh. A summer of being hangry could do wonders for the current team. Berry will be spending less time partying with a trophy this summer too.
  22. Huge win. Congrats to the team and Coach Jones. The stars seem to be aligning.
  23. Need to have the ball in Hooker or Geno's hands for free throws
  24. How many years does he have left on his contact? No sense wasting money on a buyout for a women's hockey coach.
