  1. Interesting that after Kennedy emailed Hodgson regarding concerns over the Betty center court logo, Jody said he would "send this information to Kris, Jeff, and James" and get back to him after he's received feedback from them. Are those 3 the only ones on the board with a say on what really goes on at REA?
  2. I can understand the REA's resistance to placing the logo at center ice, as it would piss off the Sioux Forever crowd (mostly hockey-only fans) and the coaches and players don't want it. That Sioux Forever crowd is indeed quite large. However, there's no excuse for not placing the logo at center court of the Betty. They should also "slowly integrate" the logo into the REA by placing it behind the nets or on other less central parts of the ice, as others have suggested.
  3. Dakota Hall (old hotel dorm that hasn't been used in a while) and at least a portion of the Ray Richards land could both be contributing to that $8 million.
  4. The Betty (under a different name, obviously) could have happened without the Engelstads. "Would it" have happened requires speculation.
  5. You must realize you and those like you who cry every time you see the hawk logo are the snowflakes at this point, don't you?
  6. Just to be clear, the Betty was not a gift to UND from the Engelstad Foundation. UND is paying the bond for that building through the REA revenue share.
  7. And because it was information they wanted to be public.... Not meaning to offend, as it's more a commentary on media today, but it's disappointing that it takes a blog to get the full story because of the local paper's agenda.
  8. He kind of danced around it by pointing out the "oh, shiny" new things coming to the Betty. New artwork on the locker room doors - Good, I'm sure they'll have the new hawk, but I'm pretty sure the doors already did have the hawk. New LED scorers table - Good, this was needed. New designs on the video boards and LED scorers table - Good, the old designs also had the Hawk, but I'm sure the new ones will too. With the addition of an LED scorers table, they will be able to place the Hawk designs on the scorers table, so this is something. New artwork on the venue walls - Good, but the Betty already had the Hawk logo on the walls. I'm assuming the new artwork consists of replacing the Big Sky teams' logos with the Summit teams' logos. New game presentations in the REA - Good, we'll see what they are.
  9. I'm not terribly upset about it, but where? The logo was already in the video board electronic designs, on the walls of the Betty, and I believe on the Betty locker room doors. The only actual addition appears to be the live mascot, which is being done by UND. I think we can all have a good laugh at that "stencil wasn't available yet" excuse they used the other year.
  10. He saw UND (and that AD) planning to transition to D1 on a shoestring budget.
  11. After the red pepper says they fixed it.... You just don't mess with nostalgia.
  12. Seems to be confusion with the messy ownership/management setup for the REA, but I'm pretty confident saying the Engelstad Foundation is not taking money from the REA to give away to someone else. Money not going to UND is being spent on the REA and Betty. The issue, IMO, is the REA is not sharing in the pain of the rest of the University. Staff (of which the REA has a lot) are not being laid off or asked to do more at the Ralph, in fact, they appear to be doing less with the loss of women's hockey. There is also likely duplication between the REA and UND AD staff. I'm sure the current leadership at UND would like to see things streamlined and right-sized, allowing the revenue sharing to be more favorable to UND.
  13. Pretty sure it's sarcasm coming from Stoney.
  14. I don't recall the REA nor the foundation ever speaking in support of retaining WIH.
  15. It is definitely a sloppy grinder. Need 2 hands and several napkins.
  16. No idea what actually flows to the foundation from REA inc and I doubt REA inc sees any alerus concessions and such, but being generous (and rounding for simple math) we'd be talking 5 games * $20 per ticket * 9,000 tickets = $900,000 * 52% = $468,000 going to REA.
  17. Has picked up offers from Fordham and Holy Cross.
  18. 6'3" 185# DB out of Kansas. Has offers from SIU, WIU, and UT-Martin.
  19. That was actually a new ploy pulled by ndsu a few years later when the state told them they could only build their new business school with non-state funds. Pretty sure that specific method of getting a new building is illegal now.
  20. The football, basketball, and volleyball ticket split isn't.
  21. There were other ways to get it built. Could have had the Foundation bond for it and paid them rent to pay the bond.
