  1. But President Bresciani said if you repeat a lie often enough it'll become the truth.
  2. I prefer the crunchy cheetos.
  3. Caffeine sounds a lot more innocent than stimulant though....
  4. I believe it was with the building of the Betty. So around 2004.
  5. Seems crazy, but $1800 will get you what, maybe 1 month in an assisted living facility? And that $1.4 billion is for 2 years. A lot of the state's human services spending is for the elderly and for medical costs.
  6. Sure, but the $1.4 billion from the state's general fund is a lot of money. As for state spending on ag and corporate welfare, I don't disagree with you. It won't move the budget needle much though.
  7. K-12 school spending was doubled and human services (welfare programs) were tripled in the last 10 years. They now comprise around 65% of the state budget.
  8. I don't disagree we've got a spending issue compared to other states.
  9. The tax collections per capita include the oil tax revenue, 30% of which is going into the legacy fund and not being spent.
  10. Found the article with donation amounts. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.westfargopioneer.com/news/education/4443817-i-want-see-him-do-his-job-kris-engelstad-mcgarry-describes-hostile%3famp
  11. They have donated some to the REA for the locker room and new video board. I believe they gave a few million to UND for academics between 2009 and 2013 too.
  12. He made the decision, but not until after the IAC had their coach begathon and chose to not make a decision, and after the state cut funding an additional 5%.
  13. President Kennedy and the State Board don't decide how the legacy fund is spent. If you want to blame the state legislature and the governor for prioritizing saving over immediate higher ed needs (without falling into politics), you're welcome to.
  14. This is my recollection as well, but I guess everything bad at UND is now Kennedy's doing.
  15. From the forum guidelines: No politics or religion - moderators
  16. Oops. Misread that. Not sure on NCAA regionals.
  17. I think REA would get to keep the concessions and 52% of ticket revenue. UND's share of ticket revenue would go to NCHC I believe.
  18. How was Berry's "system" in 2015-16 with more skill on the team?
  19. UND is working to embrace and become part of the changing technological and higher education landscape, while maintaining a traditional presence. There is a stigma against online universities, so it's important for UND to remain a "traditional campus offering degrees online" rather than becoming a primarily online university. NDSU is hoping its campus experience can continue to draw in traditional students. NDSU will be forced by the board over the next couple years to begin offering online agriculture and other degrees for which it is the sole state provider though.
  20. I can't imagine it's even close to breaking even on its own.
  21. NDSU also went though a lot of budget pain in the early Bresciani years (again, mostly unreported). That did seem to set them up a little better for the 2016/17 cuts. UND's budget woes were 15 years in the making.
