Did Portland State win any games in the playoffs? Yep. Had NDSU been a 7-4 team(like 2010 when they backed in), that could be the sort of thing that kept them out. Was shocked they got in in 2010 as well. Zero sympathy for teams on the bubble. Maybe you'll get in, maybe you won't, don't leave any question about getting in.

When I watch the selection show in march, I never feel bad for the "first four out," particularly when they come from a big conference. They had plenty of chances throughout the year to lock it in. UND lost to Idaho State that year...at home. If that keeps you out of the playoffs at 7-4, then complain about losing to Idaho State, not missing the playoffs themselves.

The same team who lost at home as the only D1 win for Idaho state was going to make a run? What team did UND beat that made some noise that year? Honest question.

Yep. Need autobids. You win your conference, congrats and welcome. FCS playoffs are huge and any team with a prayer at the championship makes it. There is never a team sitting at home with a legit gripe about not making it.

Yeah I'm fairly confident that the NCAA would only take away autobids or whatever if conferences aren't able to find a warm body. The NCAA doesn't want to be a villain punishing low major division one conferences. NCAA: "Hey you guys are losing (insert school here), what's the plan? You know you need (x) schools to keep an autobid" League: "Hey yes we are adding (lower division school), they will be full D1 in a few years, is that okay?" NCAA: "Oh, yeah. Sure. Sounds good. Well, I better get going. I have another scandal at a P5 that I will somehow not punish in any meaningful way."

Unless he really genuinely hated the school and city he must feel bad about leaving. Unless he genuinely likes Grand Forks which is perfectly reasonable.

I was walking to a bar to watch some grown up football ironically. I keep track of both ND schools, I love the state I grew up in. As a child, the NDSU v. UND game was basically Christmas. I love college athletics. I'd like UND to not be terrible. Talk to my boy VMeister. Should also be noted, I have never claimed UND is insignificant. I post on UND's board, clearly I'm interested in how you folks are doing. Half my family went there. The best week of the year is when the two schools get together and rumble. Someone is rather touchy that his school got their *** kicked by a team of Mormons not named BYU. It's okay. Nowhere to go but up bud.

That's not how it works at all. UND ain't getting back to the Big Sky. And it's unlikely UND would be winning conference titles in football 3/5 years if they stayed.
