I'm not a big fan of black or any color that isn't the primary. If your school is green and white, Wear those colors. Now for an alternate jersey every now and then(see ugly Maryland and the ugly NDSU yellow), go for anything, have fun with it.

Something to chew on: Illinois St. was 4th, NDSU still was up by 10 when the clock hit zeros. Last year NDSU couldn't throw....at all, it was kinda embarassing. This year, the passing game has looked pretty good.

Not really understanding all of the Notre Dame hate going on. Notre Dame is a Bigtime Division 1 school. Tons of fans nationwide. Whether anyone likes it or not, they get to be a lot more picky than a lot of other schools about conference deals in any sport. If UND could do what Notre Dame is doing, you can bet your house that they would. Notre Dame is going to get a pretty good deal to join some conference, and as a result, that conference is going to get a lot of exposure because Lo and Behold, they get to play against the University of Notre Dame.

Both of them are looking pretty good. Hopefully North Dakota talent continues to make its way into the state teams. It would be nice to get a top guy to stay in-state. i.e McGovern or Qvale.

Sounds like he has a good program over in DL. Wish more schools did this, same system throughout schooling career. You might get hammered a few times when you are young, but once your in high school and understand everything while other kids are learning new systems, you got a huge edge.

And they will have to change the name of the school in El Forko Grande to UND-Online. Perhaps with the nickname getting dropped you can be the UND-Online Routers or UND-O Modems...

If you want hockey to gain popularity, schools like UND, UNO, Denver, and CC aren't going to do it for you. Its the Big Ten schools and Notre Dame who bring any new popularity hockey will gain.

Just wanted to make it clear I wasn't trying to piss anyone off. I think you caught what I was trying to say in the right light. If UND wins, and continues to beat D1 teams(not many on the schedule!) then I will definitely say that they deserve a ranking...not that rankings are overly important. UND could definitely get back to where they can challenge NDSU, but it could be a long tough road. NDSU was fortunate enough to have at the very least, a solid coach in Bohl. UND lost Lennon and well, all I can say is Mussman. A time will eventually come where UND can at least put a team on the field that is at the very least capable of playing with NDSU, and could even beat NDSU. But I semi-anticipate an NDSU dominance returning to the upper Mid-west for the first time since the 80's-early 90's. Im not going to argue with you, while I think you are wrong to an extent, like every poll, the Sagarin Ratings will be more accurate in a few more weeks. At that point in time, I think it might make a bit more sense to look at them. If only football fans were patient and judged teams at the end of seasons..

My case is the National Championships NDSU has. The atmosphere at games. I think if they play anytime soon NDSU will win most of them. But like you said, the two teams have gone back and forth, since the Super Bowl Era (my measuring stick, some might use others) NDSU won a few more than UND, not a lot, but a few. Did UND have success in that time? Yes, a national title, conference titles, playoff appearances, but at the end of the day, CAS4127 has 3X as many championship rings as any UND player on the 2001 team. Again, not trying to upset anyone, and damnit, the thread is drifting away.....WILSON!!!!!!

I agree and disagree, UND will have better teams from time to time, the five-year head start they allowed is really going to kick them in the balls for awhile I think. I don't know if they will ever fully catch NDSU (not with Muss). Will UND have some teams that are better than NDSU, yep, at some point, a UND football team will be better than an NDSU one(not with Muss). But will UND ever catch NDSU as a football school? No. NDSU has the tradition, the venue(dome v. alerus? not a contest), the school support(hockey is the big "thing" at UND). Does that mean there is anything wrong with UND? No, not at all. I just look at UND and say that they are the Auburn to our Alabama as far as football in the Modern Era (super bowl era) goes. Auburn has done well, Alabama just has a little bit more to hang their hat on as far as historical success. None of this is intended as a slam against UND. Just an opinion. UND should start to be consistently better as soon as Muss is gone. I'm sorry, but he isn't taking you guys anywhere.(see Idaho halftime kneel, see lack of adjustments in 2nd half). Maybe convince ol' Roger Thomas to come coach again

It would mean even if the AD's couldn't agree on a deal that they'd have to settle it in the playoffs. I could dig that. Yeah, well we should be sitting pretty, but you really don't know until you see the guys play. Thats why for all the tough talk I gave about how NDSU doesn't need Mollberg at QB nearly as bad as UND, it still would be nice to have gotten him because of the fact the more guys you got, the better chance you have for one of them to be pretty good players. Quite a bit of doubt. Both schools get ample attention which is good for the state. I have never understood why people feel the need to get into pissing contests about which school is the "premier" one. If you want to be a doctor or a lawyer, UND is a fine place to get your education. If you want to be a pilot, outside of the Air Force Academy and the Naval Academy, UND might be the best. If you want to do something Agriculture(tons of money in Ag), you hit up NDSU, if you want to be a pharmacist, NDSU, both have solid business but back home my dad is a CEO of a financial institution and they have 90% NDSU grads, so based on a small sample NDSU is better, but like I said, small sample. I will mention this however about NDSU vs. UND, by the time we were this far into our transition, we had spent weeks at #1. What has UND done to give you guys all of this confidence?

I think it is wrong to look at series overall anyway. When games played in the 1800's through the 40's and 50's count....you can't really brag about series leads. Funny fact is Notre Dame holds a very similar lead over USC I believe, and thats after USC just dominated Notre Dame for 9 years in a row. But does anyone care? No, because USC has been at Notre Dame's level for quite some time. My way of looking at things....anything before the Super Bowl Era is not worth counting. And another bit off topic but this is where the thread has been taken, UND's invite into the Big Sky is gone if they keep the name and deal with the sanctions. The Big Sky essentially told them that their name was expected to be gone or at least the issue settled by the time they were to enter the conference. It is best for UND if the Legislature changes the law. Back onto the polls, this week is really UND's last good chance maybe to go up in the polls. Is UND at home the week after this? I was going to go up to Grand Forks to visit a friend and if UND is at home I wouldn't mind catching some football. I agree Darrell, the coaches should not have a veil to hide behind. But if it was an open vote, then during press conferences they might get asked why they voted a certain way rather than questions about the time. I am not saying it would happen, but it would open them up to a lot of criticism (maybe not such a bad thing).

Some voters may have gotten the schools mixed up. Some of them may have corrected it. Anyway, Haven't been over there...I assume they are telling the part that makes it look like NDSU got screwed. Some folks might claim each of the schools are over each other. Those folks are lying.

EWU and Montana are looking pretty dang great! Just kidding, the Big Sky is a good conference. No conference will ever take over Southland as the best conference though If I were UND I'd keep talking to some other QB's, you don't want to get put in a spot where you have no QB's...trust me, look at NDSU in '09. It sucks.

Those days are gone. Recruiting is a dirty, dirty game. As long as people aren't breaking violations I am fine with whatever they do. Essentially, the only person NDSU has to worry about is Lakes paying for something stupid and unnecessary for a recruit.

Me thinks he has probably been banned....he gets banned everywhere else (people don't like all the BIG LETTERS), can't imagine bunnyville being any different unless they are keeping him as the court jester or a pet.

I just noticed something great for the state of North Dakota. NDSU won 4 or 5 women's bball championships in the 90's, and UND won 3. Just thought this is pretty amazing considering that is almost every 7 or 8 out of 10 possible championships for a decade. That is something we can all be proud of.

Because Notre Dame has perhaps the biggest fan-base of any school in the country, as well as one of the biggest anti-fan bases in the country as well. There is a reason they are on TV every week, and a reason that they have articles on ESPN all the time. Because even if people think Notre Dame is irrelevant, they will watch them play and read articles about them. I would agree don't sell the whole conference to them, but without making some serious concessions to them, Notre Dame will find a different conference to bring their power to. Remember, for Notre Dame, hockey comes 3rd, they like revenue and success. They will be successful no matter what, but they will go where the money is.

Recruiting is a tough part of college football and you might as well try, worst case scenario, you don't change his mind. Whoops, pardon me. I forget how big of a school DL is apparently. Like I said, a good get for UND, not a make or break player for a recruiting class though. In 5 years, when he is done playing, if he goes down as a 3-4 year starter who leads UND to something significant, I will more than happily eat my words. Remember, NDSU landed Nick Mertens, Mr. Football in Minnesota if I remember right(or at least a finalist or something), things didn''t pan out for him.

I meant that Minnesota could play Wisconsin....I doubt UND vs. Wisconsin would be done at Target Field....in the U of M's hometown. Yes, that'd enrage quite a few people I'd presume haha

Recruiting is a 24/7 job. You think that he hasn't called other recruits before games? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say he probably has. I assume you have been inside Mr. Mollberg's brain and saw that he isn't afraid to compete with 4 quarterbacks? He might be the type of kid who isn't afraid of it, but it is just as likely if not more likely, that he is doesn't want to compete with them. If Stanford or Wentz is better than him, he is sitting on the bench until he is a senior. If Thorton is, he is waiting at least til he is a junior.... I'm not saying that is why he is choosing UND over NDSU. Maybe he liked the campus more, maybe UND has a good program for his major. Maybe he does want to be a part of bringing them back. No one other than him and his friends/family will probably really know.

I think if you compare recruiting classes recently NDSU's have been both better, and performed better on the field. This cannot be disputed. Heck, a couple of years ago it was on the news that NDSU didn't lose a single recruiting battle to UND or SDSU that season. UND has gotten a few recruits that NDSU was going for, that happens. You can't win 'em all. I'm sure it will even out to some extent but NDSU is currently king around here. We got Wentz, we got the better prospect in my opinion at least in Ryan Smith(Miller wouldn't see much PT in Fargo, not right now anyway). I do agree though on the fact that the only reason NDSU/UND's coaches think about the other school is recruiting, if UND trends upwards they will get some solid recruits, but if NDSU keeps trending up NDSU will get the better ones in the region. I remember watching a lot of close games lost to UND and a few close ones NDSU won. I also remember watching a lot of Bison/UND games where the game was out of contention in the first half back in the 80's. Rivalries go in cycles. Yep, NDSU watched UND win a National Title, UND watched NDSU win 8 of them and they are doing just fine. Pretty sure Alabama is doing fine after watching Auburn win it all last year. Pretty sure Florida St. is fine that Florida won a couple during the Tebow Administration.
