  1. Typically when a group of people elects representatives, they choose someone who agrees with them on issues they deem important. For some folks, the issues are social programs and welfare systems. For others it is low taxes or good schools. If the "Fighting Sioux issue" was important to the people, they would have elected individuals who believed UND keeping the nickname was important. By electing individuals who were either against the nickname, or had decided that it simply was not important to them, the people of the Standing Rock rez essentially, whether informed voters or not, that they did not want the University of North Dakota to keep the name Fighting Sioux. You can say all you want about people signing some petition begging the counsel to allow a vote, the citizens of voting age had their chance to "save the name" and decided other issues were more important. Game. Set. Match. NCAA. If you don't like it, that's understandable. If you guys are going to keep complaining about how the NCAA works, just remember, no one is forcing you to be a part of the NCAA. The NAIA might have a different policy on Native American logos. And if you are "above" the NAIA, feel free to move a semi-pro hockey team into Grand Forks and call them the Fighting Sioux. This would allow UND to drop the hockey team and with it, all the fans that weren't fans of the school, they were fans of a team of college guys called the Fighting Sioux. This would also allow the Spirit Lake people to be so "proud" of the nickname and quit throwing a fit.
  2. Beer to wash down the leftover pizza has his memory a little bit cloudy. Cut him some slack.
  3. As a Notre Dame fan, I felt like !@#$ Nice Uni's to wear from time to time. Beat Michigan next year.
  4. This is probably the last time I will feel confident going into a Minnesota/NDSU game. Glen Mason was not a bad coach if Minnesota fans were fine with 6-5 and 7-4 type seasons. Brewster ruinned everything. Kill should be able to at least fix some of the issues there. UND will probably just have a rough time. You guys got a pretty young team in general dont you? Regardless, no UND squad they've had during the transition would stand up to what appears to be a pretty solid Fresno team.
  5. I think a lot more people know about Appalachian St. than know about UND.
  6. UND is awful too. Fresno might be a decent team but who really knows, Nebraska has some issues at times for how good they are (close game with SDSU). I don't have a lot of faith in UND's team right now after the way they played Idaho.
  7. Does UND have $3-$5 Million to throw around for every year?
  8. College hockey is non-consequential, it is just like FCS football. People who went to school somewhere, will generally follow the team. But unlike college basketball or FBS, Hockey and FCS don't have truely national fanbases. Am I going Boston University, Miami, UND, (insert hockey school name here) hats, and shirts throughout the entire country like I will see Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Miami (FL)? Hell no. Am I going to see Appalachian St., Eastern Washington, Montana, Delaware shirts everywhere? Nope. Hence, hockey is no more relevant than FCS. I hope that hockey attracts a higher total attendence, hockey has around 30-40 games a year? Football teams play 11-15 pending playoffs.
  9. You do not understand the point that I am trying to make. You are counting a sport that only 13 or 15 out of well over a hundred FCS teams has. Does that not give the hockey schools an advantage? And don't say anything about NDSU's basketball attendence being horrible. You need not look past the many skyways of UND to see less-than-stellar attendence. On a nicer note, what was UND's hockey attendence last season?
  10. Thread drift would explain why something that is not overly important or relevant would become relevant and extremely important.
  11. That is really sad that they can't meet the 15,000 ticket limit. You'd think it wouldn't be overly difficult even with Boise in the area,
  12. Fresno 54 UND 10 UND is just not very good at this moment in time.
  13. Well Dave, I'm not following your logic at all. '09 Texas Tech really wasn't very special. They won against Nebraska. Other than that, looks like they beat no one to brag about other than an Oklahoma team missing Sam Bradford. Texas Tech would probably be the better team, but to say that it'd be a massacre makes no sense. Graham Harrell was gone bud, Michael Crabtree was too.
  14. Hmm...so is that only one game when the Gophers were not able to get at least ten points? Thats all great and what not, but I notice you say they were 11-2 the year before (a hugely embarassing loss to Oklahoma, lost by 40-50 points). They just graduated one of the better spread qb's in the nation and Michael Crabtree left. So a team that even with those two players, was around a top 15 team, lost their best players, and opened up and beat you by 25 points. And you are pleased? Sad, 2006 Minnesota vs. 2009 Texas Tech, I'm going to say that it would probably be a good game.
  15. You are satisfied with giving up 38 points? This is everything that is wrong with UND football fans. Yes, NDSU scored 9 points. I would like you to tell me how many teams gave up 10 or less to Minnesota. UND bragging about losing to TT by 25 is really going to make my day really a lot better.
  16. I gave some input and just mentioned which school I support, the fact that you get so upset is a bit odd. I don't think there is anything wrong with people calling for his head. Obviously he gets paid to coach a football team and I don't think it is unreasonable for people here to say that they expect more from him. It is proven that fans ranting for the coaches head does nothing good for the school? Hm, I am unaware, Did Cal-Berkeley or Harvard do a study on this? It isn't just for fun, the school would like to make some money on the football program, it is not for "fun."
  17. Minnesota was beating Texas Tech by 31 in the 2nd half before the most epic collapse in bowl history and an overtime loss.. So "Sioux83," I feel as though it'd be fair to compare the football programs on Texas Tech and Minnesota. Maybe you should do your homework sometime. The Texas Tech '06 team was a lot lot better than the 9-4 Insight team. Remember, just cause UND got rocked by a D1 team doesn't mean that D1 team was good.
  18. Nope, you have to spell the state that the University is in. Idiot. You should really start referring to the team as UND, just so next year you'll still recognize the team who is playing in the Alerus.
  19. What CM means is actually don't read anyone's opinion that he doesn't like.
  20. Prove it that results would be replicated. They elected a group of people. If the Sioux name was even remotely important to them, they would have elected pro-nickname people, oh wait!!!! They voted for anti-nickname people...hmm...........not following your logic bro. Just playing Devil's advocate, I can give two craps if UND keeps the name or not, just throwing up 2 pennys in there with all of you guys.
  21. Montana St. has a legit stadium. It is not huge, in fact, even with the add-ons this summer I believe it holds less than the Fargodome but still, beautiful setting, a good atmosphere, nicer than the Alerus as long as the fans are willing to show up.
  22. D2 is different than when NDSU and even UND were in it. A lot of quality teams (sans GV St.) have been moving up. D2 includes Minot and Mary, hence it is irrelevant. UND has some work to do, whether thats fire Mussman or keep him, without a doubt, something needs to be done, I wouldn't make a big deal out of squandering a14-3 lead, I'd make a big deal out of the serious lack of talent and what not on UND's roster. UND( while I hate them) is too decent of a school to have a football team that is that bad, unaccepable. Makes you guys having the Nickel feel that much worse for us Bison fans
  23. fellow Whioux fans? I am unaware as to this name you speak of?
  24. 8>1 While I would love to have the Nickel, I am more than happy to polish off National Championship trophies, keeping one clean can be tough, but keeping 8 looking good is just a nuisance, I suppose UND doesn't know what 8 championships feels like......unless you combine sports I'm dicking around, as a hardcore Bison fan and a student with friends at both schools, NDSU has taken losing the rivalry a bit more hard cause UND had a chance to stay with us, go D1, and have a great time in what is a top 3 FCS conference ( better than Big Sky, USD beat EWU tonight), but UND chose not to, if it was the other way around, I'm guessing it would be a similar situation. I really loved the rivalry, even though during my lifetime UND won more, they were generally really good games if you go back and watch them. I wish they were in the same conference so both sides would HAVE to play one another. Obviously right now there is some bad blood between the Athletic Departments and I don't want an annual game( 6 home games is really nice), but even every 2-4 years would be nice. MVFC is the place to be right now, can only wish UND had been able to see the hindsight that they can now and would have joined when NDSU and SDSU moved up.
  25. Ann Arbor is a football town. Ever heard of the Big House? Madison is a football town. Camp Randall is wild. Minneapolis is a football town. VIkings or the Wild? Who is bigger. Boston is a sports town. Boston loves all of their teams. Having very good hockey attendence is worth being proud about, considering it is a small sport in comparison to the major college sports. I don't think most Americans would say they have a favorite college hockey team, but you can bet most people got a favorite football or basketball team. The fact though that UND has good hockey attendence kind of goes against what this Attendence comparison should be doing. It should not be adding sports for some schools that other schools do not have. Like I said,
