  1. Quite a bit of doubt. Both schools get ample attention which is good for the state. I have never understood why people feel the need to get into pissing contests about which school is the "premier" one. If you want to be a doctor or a lawyer, UND is a fine place to get your education. If you want to be a pilot, outside of the Air Force Academy and the Naval Academy, UND might be the best. If you want to do something Agriculture(tons of money in Ag), you hit up NDSU, if you want to be a pharmacist, NDSU, both have solid business but back home my dad is a CEO of a financial institution and they have 90% NDSU grads, so based on a small sample NDSU is better, but like I said, small sample. I will mention this however about NDSU vs. UND, by the time we were this far into our transition, we had spent weeks at #1. What has UND done to give you guys all of this confidence?
  2. I think it is wrong to look at series overall anyway. When games played in the 1800's through the 40's and 50's count....you can't really brag about series leads. Funny fact is Notre Dame holds a very similar lead over USC I believe, and thats after USC just dominated Notre Dame for 9 years in a row. But does anyone care? No, because USC has been at Notre Dame's level for quite some time. My way of looking at things....anything before the Super Bowl Era is not worth counting. And another bit off topic but this is where the thread has been taken, UND's invite into the Big Sky is gone if they keep the name and deal with the sanctions. The Big Sky essentially told them that their name was expected to be gone or at least the issue settled by the time they were to enter the conference. It is best for UND if the Legislature changes the law. Back onto the polls, this week is really UND's last good chance maybe to go up in the polls. Is UND at home the week after this? I was going to go up to Grand Forks to visit a friend and if UND is at home I wouldn't mind catching some football. I agree Darrell, the coaches should not have a veil to hide behind. But if it was an open vote, then during press conferences they might get asked why they voted a certain way rather than questions about the time. I am not saying it would happen, but it would open them up to a lot of criticism (maybe not such a bad thing).
  3. Some voters may have gotten the schools mixed up. Some of them may have corrected it. Anyway, Haven't been over there...I assume they are telling the part that makes it look like NDSU got screwed. Some folks might claim each of the schools are over each other. Those folks are lying.
  4. EWU and Montana are looking pretty dang great! Just kidding, the Big Sky is a good conference. No conference will ever take over Southland as the best conference though If I were UND I'd keep talking to some other QB's, you don't want to get put in a spot where you have no QB's...trust me, look at NDSU in '09. It sucks.
  5. Those days are gone. Recruiting is a dirty, dirty game. As long as people aren't breaking violations I am fine with whatever they do. Essentially, the only person NDSU has to worry about is Lakes paying for something stupid and unnecessary for a recruit.
  6. Me thinks he has probably been banned....he gets banned everywhere else (people don't like all the BIG LETTERS), can't imagine bunnyville being any different unless they are keeping him as the court jester or a pet.
  7. I just noticed something great for the state of North Dakota. NDSU won 4 or 5 women's bball championships in the 90's, and UND won 3. Just thought this is pretty amazing considering that is almost every 7 or 8 out of 10 possible championships for a decade. That is something we can all be proud of.
  8. Because Notre Dame has perhaps the biggest fan-base of any school in the country, as well as one of the biggest anti-fan bases in the country as well. There is a reason they are on TV every week, and a reason that they have articles on ESPN all the time. Because even if people think Notre Dame is irrelevant, they will watch them play and read articles about them. I would agree don't sell the whole conference to them, but without making some serious concessions to them, Notre Dame will find a different conference to bring their power to. Remember, for Notre Dame, hockey comes 3rd, they like revenue and success. They will be successful no matter what, but they will go where the money is.
  9. Whoopsies. That is my bad, Until a pen is put to paper, you might as well give it a go. I'm sure UND has done the same thing before and will probably do it again. NDSU will too I'm sure. Recruiting is a tough part of college football and you might as well try, worst case scenario, you don't change his mind. Whoops, pardon me. I forget how big of a school DL is apparently. Att Yds TD PA PC Yds TD Int 2010 173 1,043 20 105 57 1,060 7 6 One more TD than IN throwing. Quite a few running touchdowns. Like I said, a good get for UND, not a make or break player for a recruiting class though. In 5 years, when he is done playing, if he goes down as a 3-4 year starter who leads UND to something significant, I will more than happily eat my words. Remember, NDSU landed Nick Mertens, Mr. Football in Minnesota if I remember right(or at least a finalist or something), things didn''t pan out for him.
  10. Whoops, thanks for the correction! I don't know why I randomly dismissed the possibility of the Phillies stadium. And LetsGoSioux! I meant that Minnesota could play Wisconsin....I doubt UND vs. Wisconsin would be done at Target Field....in the U of M's hometown. Yes, that'd enrage quite a few people I'd presume haha
  11. Recruiting is a 24/7 job. You think that he hasn't called other recruits before games? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say he probably has. I assume you have been inside Mr. Mollberg's brain and saw that he isn't afraid to compete with 4 quarterbacks? He might be the type of kid who isn't afraid of it, but it is just as likely if not more likely, that he is doesn't want to compete with them. If Stanford or Wentz is better than him, he is sitting on the bench until he is a senior. If Thorton is, he is waiting at least til he is a junior.... I'm not saying that is why he is choosing UND over NDSU. Maybe he liked the campus more, maybe UND has a good program for his major. Maybe he does want to be a part of bringing them back. No one other than him and his friends/family will probably really know.
  12. I think if you compare recruiting classes recently NDSU's have been both better, and performed better on the field. This cannot be disputed. Heck, a couple of years ago it was on the news that NDSU didn't lose a single recruiting battle to UND or SDSU that season. UND has gotten a few recruits that NDSU was going for, that happens. You can't win 'em all. I'm sure it will even out to some extent but NDSU is currently king around here. We got Wentz, we got the better prospect in my opinion at least in Ryan Smith(Miller wouldn't see much PT in Fargo, not right now anyway). I do agree though on the fact that the only reason NDSU/UND's coaches think about the other school is recruiting, if UND trends upwards they will get some solid recruits, but if NDSU keeps trending up NDSU will get the better ones in the region. I remember watching a lot of close games lost to UND and a few close ones NDSU won. I also remember watching a lot of Bison/UND games where the game was out of contention in the first half back in the 80's. Rivalries go in cycles. Yep, NDSU watched UND win a National Title, UND watched NDSU win 8 of them and they are doing just fine. Pretty sure Alabama is doing fine after watching Auburn win it all last year. Pretty sure Florida St. is fine that Florida won a couple during the Tebow Administration.
  13. He also recruited Wentz and Stanford last year. Two qb's. Chances are....one of them will play and one of them wont. Depth. I trust the coaches more than myself, maybe they think he would be a 4 year starter....maybe they want depth. Maybe he is just a solid qb from the area and they figure why not go for him?
  14. You tell me when he would get to play and I'm glad to listen. Jensen could easily start through 2013. If he isn't starting, it is Wentz I think, but Thorton and Stanford(pretty excited about this guy coming out of high school) very well could too. That means NDSU more than likely has the QB's on the roster that will play through 2015. Wentz, I read on some FCS recruiting site, apparently has NFL talent, I think everyone in the state would probably agree that that is pretty ambitious, but you get the picture, he can throw the ball around the yard. Mollberg's numbers aren't overly impressive when it comes to throwing the ball, he had more interceptions than td's last season. That can be from a variety of problems(tipped balls, hit white throwing, etc) but playing Class A football in Minnesota and having those numbers doesn't impress me. I understand he has great running numbers and that is obviously great for a college QB to have. He obviously has talent if Iowa is taking a good hard look at him, but like I said, I just don't see him as someone who would be anything more than a one year starter at NDSU. Would I like to have him in Fargo? Yes. Would I be fine with him playing QB? Yes. Would I like to see them try him out at other positions? Yes. Do I think he is better than the guys we have? No, but no one will know if he has any talent until he gets to college. Once upon a time in Fargo we thought Jose was going to save us, fail. For UND's sake, you better hope Iowa doesn't offer, he should be a solid player at worst, and could be a pretty dang good one at best.
  15. NDSU plays at 1 on North Dakota NBC and Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. I don't know if Comcast Sportsnet Chicago comes with the normal package. Doesn't affect me really. What time does UND play at? I wouldn't mind keeping tabs on how they are doing against what appears to be a solid team.
  16. Mollberg's commit pending Iowa offer. He is a great athlete, wish he would have decided on NDSU but oh well. He wouldn't have taken a snap at QB during his time in Fargo but no reason to think he couldn't get used in other ways. He is a good get for UND if Iowa decides not to offer. I still don't think Bohl is overly worried about UND. #1, different conferences. #2, Bohl has done a great job recruiting (minus a year or so), and #3, he has other things on his plate, such as the Missouri Valley. Darrell, UND's history is just like any good program, they shouldn't be down for long but you never know, my Fighting Irish have been saying that since the Mid-90's. Another example is a team in Greely, Colorado. The jump to Division 1 has not been kind to what was a very proud program.
  17. I wouldn't compare him to Belichick, Belichick outcoaches teams on a terrifyingly regular basis. Bohl just happens to have a better team than most coaches throughout his time at NDSU. Belichick can piss liquid gold and shat diamonds. I hate him. College football's answer to Belichick is one good sir by the name of Nick Saban (As far as ability to coach, not so much in attitude.) Maybe Saban is tired of dominating at Alabama and will move on to a new challenge up in the B1G? Minnesota led by Nick Saban would be the scarriest thing that state has had since Dr. Lou coaching the Goofs.
  18. Doing well in the 3rd toughest conference in FCS would do that too. Maybe tell the voters (coaches/coach's assistants in this case) that they are stupid and then go out and win games...that way, they have no reason to withhold votes
  19. I don't think he really cares. He is going to talk about things the media might be interested in hearing about. I'm sure Muss is the same way. Coaches in general just want to win games and do their part in getting their team better. I'm sure he wasn't pleased about randomly dropping to #12, cause that means people aren't as impressed with the product he is putting on the field as they were a week earlier when his team didn't even play. I try to not read too much into the polls, there are so many of the damn things. The great thing about the FCS, for NDSU and for UND, is if you get enough wins, you go to the playoffs, and get an opportunity to either show you are better than people think, or you are worse than what people thought. Should be UND's biggest opportunity to make a jump in the polls this week. SUU is apparently a pretty solid team despite the hickup against SDSU. UND hasn't impressed me so far outside of a tight game with Fresno St. If they want fans to get excited and get a good atmosphere in the Alerus, this would be a great week to play good. All I can hope for is that NDSU plays well in the Valley and merits a seed. I wouldn't mind staying in the Fargodome until January.
  20. Flyers Vs. Rangers at Eagle's stadium this winter. Might actually watch it if the flyers are looking any good. To the gentleman who said it'd have to be Gophers vs. UND, I think you are forgetting about Wisconsin. Both Wisconsin and UND could bring in pretty good numbers I would imagine.
  21. Bohl is worried about UND being ranked #24 in the country? Something tells me he is a bit more concerned with the Valley for the next 3-4 months until off-season recruiting starts up.
  22. Like someone said, yes, Lakes is at it again. As for Minnesota, I think they would be. Keep in mind they played NDSU closer than the scoreboard, they played USC close, layed an egg against NMSU and beat Miami (OH). I think their squad has the talent and ability that would simply overpower FCS teams.
  23. Give him the week off, BHSU is awful. Don't want to risk further injury.
  24. Just playing Devil's advocate bro.
  25. I'd take the points, then again I am a biased NDSU fan. NDSU has a pretty solid team this year and while I would not be shocked if the Gophers won by more than ten, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bison won by 10 either. Should make for an interesting game betting wise. gophers have played the jekyll and hyde so far(USC and NMSU), we will see by this 10 o'clock Saturday night!
