  1. Hilarious is an adjective that means extremely amusing. If he is extremely amused, as a professional journalist shouldn't he then use the word hilarious? You don't have to agree with him.
  2. The only reason to feel embarassed for WYO is the fact that he now resides in Wyoming. He's just doing a little good natured smack, the fact that you care might be the weird part. Yes, BV has our own little place for Dave, he is known in those parts as being Preposterous. Sort of like the JohnboyND7 of UND fans so to speak. On topic, I don't think any jerseys for any team really have any power. Although everytime Notre Dame loses and I don't have my jersey on I blame it on that....and if I do have it on I assume I should not have worn it. Same goes for my Steelers jersey. My favorite soccer team however, Barcelona, is 1-0 when I wear my Brasil jersey, I find that to be a coincidence, but meritting further investigation.
  3. Lakes is a man of mystery. He works alone.
  4. It could go one of two ways, people who last week gave votes to NDSU this week gave them to UND. Or people would have given NDSU more votes for a close game at Fresno. I don't think you guys are seeing both ways it could work. Until NDSU or UND does something like make it to a National Title game and win it there is going to be some confusion. With any luck that is this year Right now, people see North Dakota and North Dakota St. as pretty much the same thing unless they are from the MVFC/Summit or Big Sky. And like I said, polls are going to be a bit goofy at times until one of them gets it done.
  5. Hey bro, I think your Caps Lock function is turned on. To turn it off, hit the Caps Lock button, and it will do lower case letters like everyone else.
  6. Can you cancel it and renew it at will throughout the year? Can you just say screw it til November and then get it til the end of the season or do they make you commit to the entire year?
  7. forum brings up a compelling argument. It appears that you may be trying to have a conversation with yourself about your belief that some folks are obsessed with you. You remind me of a more well-behaved Lakesbison.
  8. My cable one doesn't have it. I'd dish out the cash for it though if it had NDSU games on.
  9. You have to go out of your way to get it correct? As in it costs more? Its great for UND, makes it easier for outta state alum to watch the games. While you want sports to generate as much money as possible, I'd rather NDSU just stick with what they do. In Fargo, if you want to go watch hockey, you go to Force games. If you want to watch basketball, you go to the BSA. It is pretty simple as far as I'm concerned. If NDSU had proof that they could pack the Scheels Arena every weekend, and make a lot of money(not affect the football/basketball programs) which could in turn go to all the athletics teams, that'd be nice. I'd also want proof that NDSU would be a consistently good team. I don't anticipate NDSU getting a hockey team anytime soon. I'd like NDSU to make a lot of money but if your hockey program doesn't work out, as in it doesn't turn a good profit, it is an extremely expensive sport to have. Nebraska-Omaha decided to ditch football and wrestling. Btw, shame on them for getting rid of wrestling. Tons of D-2 Titles of late, and they decide to tell the coach moments after he clinches a National Championship again? I don't care if you lose money on that, if your good, you keep the sport. Especially if hockey is such a cash cow for them, it should be able to support their best team. Beer sales make it pretty easy for the Force to sell a lot of seats. It doesn't hurt the Force that they are pretty good yes? NDSU was mediocre last year in conference play. You need to get hype around the team if you want people to go watch. Why would NDSU get a team, would that not hurt the Force or would the Force hurt the Bison hockey team? I mean, I'm guessing Force fans aren't going to go to all the Bison games. I just don't have optomism about NDSU and hockey.
  10. The Alerus is ten years old. UND will be playing in there for the next 20 years I would bet. The Betty is supposed to be pretty nice, I haven't been there since my sisters volleyball tournement years ago. When you say national tv contract, it sounds like what Notre Dame has. UND doesn't have that, they get shoved on a channel which fortunately for UND fans, they can access if they have sattelite tv, I wish NDSU had that, but we don't. Oh well. You are trying to tell me that UND wants attendence rather than wins? Believe it or not, attendence doesn't lead to wins.....it can help sometimes however. UND's vastly superior wisdom? I would hope you are willing to acknowledge that UND dropped the ball not going D1 when NDSU did. What is wrong with wrestling? Does it make money? No, but its a sport and NDSU has always been pretty good at it. Is there anything wrong with having that? Not at all. NDSU could add hockey if they wanted. I believe it has been looked into in fact. I don't care one way or the other if they have it. They have decided up until now that it isn't worth our time and trouble. Football and basketball are what NDSU has elected to pump the money into and it has worked out pretty good over the last decade.
  11. New Mexico St. outplayed the gophers for 4 quarters. The Gophers lost to USD last year and we rocked USD. University of Minnesota isn't very good anymore, Kill is going to need a few years to fix Brewster's mess. Gopher fans have proclaimed New Mexico St. as their most winnable game. NDSU has every right to go into that game expecting nothing less than a great shot at a win. Hopefully we will all get to see you blow that gasket.
  12. Too lazy to go back and look, Wilbur randomly brings up the Herd from time to time as well. I apologize for believing it was you in that case. You do realize NDSU is probably going to be favored....you shouldn't blow a gasket if a favored team wins a game. You are in my league bro, just cause I am willing to come throw my two cents into the discussion doesn't make me a bad person. I don't think your a dirty fan by any means...I wear yellow colored glasses but I believe you are worse. You have every right to be. We all love our teams. We don't get riled up. We are on an internet message board, this is stuff we do in our free time( my job gives me quite a bit of that). You post anti-NDSU stuff on here, Bison fans see that. If you check out our preposterous statements thread on BV you will see that you, Star, and Irishsiouxfan are the three most popular preposterous statement leaders. Darell apprently posted today that NDSU is afraid to play UND in football because NDSU knows UND would beat NDSU in football. UND may have won 9 of the last 12 games in the Nickel series, 10 of the last 14 I believe counting playoffs...but this aint the 90's, this in a new decade. Right nwo if they played, most would admit the Bison would probably beat UND convincingly. You are a UND fan who hates the Bison, your history of posts suggest that. And no, you do not find it flattering that people don't like you. When people claim to be flattered people don't like them that means they really are not overly happy that they are not liked. It is in the human nature to want peers to like them. Hell UND fans don't even like you, they know you are as delusional as any UND or NDSU fan.
  13. You are completely right. But for bookies who don't know anything about UND who is 1-1 and Fresno being 0-2, they make some mistakes. As long as the UND looks like they are improving, you guys can be happy. FBS games are awesome to win but if your team looks like they are heading in the right direction you cant complain TOO much( a little bit is perfectly fine).
  14. You started the NDSU vs. UM discussion in the Fresno Vs. UND thread bro, talked about blowing a gasket. A problem will be everywhere, we don't like one another, yet some of the more bold gentlemen feel the need(myself included) to go on the other board so we can discuss problems we have with one another and throw our opinions into random things(my big thing is checking out the facilities thread). I think it was Darell who thought we could not use the nickel if the Bison and UND(nickname pending) played again. Turns out he is wrong. SFA and Sam Houston play for this trophy. I'd say the nickel is more politically correct considering the government still has to honor a coin that was minted by them. The NCAA cant possibly get mad at the nickel if they are cool with this. Your move Darell(or whoever brought up we can't play for it anymore.) If you don't want to play for the Nickel.....then you must be as liberal as the guys who made the rule you can't be the Sioux, and if you don't support the Sioux nickname, you are not welcome at SIOUXsports
  15. Craig Dahl is one of 2 NDSU players who have a super bowl ring. Tyrone Braxton has two, Craig Dahl played with the Giants when they beat the Pats, unfortunately, he had a torn ACL that game, otherwise he was a starter or at least a contributor throughout the season. He starts for the Rams now. He is a solid player I'd say, nothing special though. I am assuming you actually didn't know who he was, I never noticed him as a great player and I go to all the home games. Apparently I was wrong.
  16. Hard to argue which one has the mineral rights then. NDSU has more successful programs. UND has one extremely successful program and volleyball is good too. But to say one is better than the other is false in every way. NDSU's basketball program is better, that was made obvious in the dome last year, and don't use the transition as an excuse, Woodside and Company were from our transition and they were our best team ever. Our team is roughly as young as UND's is now and in Grand Forks this year I would assume NDSU will be favored. Our football team is better, right now it is day and night, some years it is close, some years UND is better. But since about '05 or '06 NDSU has been better, '09 would be close, I'd give neither side an edge. NDSU and UND volleyball is close, I'd say its a matter of which team plays with a chip on their shoulder that night. UND hockey obviously.........well we all know about them. A really good team. I can see where you are coming from, UND should theoretically be better because of all the extra money they have right now. You know who else has a lot of money. The UND everyone knows, The University of Notre Dame has more money than almost anyone else and they aren't what they once were. It has been a rough time to be an Irish fan, I would know. Money isn't everything, you have to be at a place where the players want to be. Sometimes that place is NDSU, sometimes its UND. It honestly goes in cycles which pisses us all off. To UND fans, UND usually has better teams and NDSU gets lucky. To us, NDSU has better teams and we find a way to screw it up ( I know I believe that but I am smart enough to know I am wrong). Lets all take a chill pill and quit pissing on each other. We all hate one another but like seriously guys, I took a nap today and it was like a voice told me, you guys should all quit being douches(especially me, DaveK, and Star2City). I still hate your athletic program. Rant over. NDSU Rocks. UND Sucks. (DISCLAIMER: I may be wrong about the two depending on which year you read this.)
  17. I hope you realize NDSU and UND are what? 70 miles apart? So your counterpoint sucked buddy. NDSU and UND compete for the same group of students as well for the most part. The other ones I can respect. As a big NDSU backer I never have cared that UND was bigger, I enjoyed my time at NDSU. I had a lot of fun, just like people who go to UND hopefully enjoy their time there. NDSU will probably hold on to their lead for quite awhile now, maybe for good. Especially on campus enrollment. Both schools are really good for the state because of the programs each of them offer so thats great. I trust our agricultural situations to NDSU and I trust my doctors from UND. I trust my NDSU engineers and I trust my UND pilots. I trust both business schools, I think they are pretty comparable? In the end this discussion is about athletics. Both schools have their sports. I personally feel like NDSU has a better overall athletics program but in UND's defense we had a head start so in a few years we will see how it all goes down. At the end of the day, NDSU generally is good at football, and UND generally has a hockey program to count on. Lets get a couple of football games on the schedule just so all of us can get our built up anger and testerone out of our systems. I have concluded I have been a dick all week to UND fans. I apologize, but DaveK and Star2City can get anyones blood boiling just like I have probably pissed off a lot of you guys. 2014: Fargo 2015: Grand Forks 2016:Cowboys Stadium? i kid, but it'd be cool.
  18. I'd say more delusional, NDSU had 20-some thousand in there. Could be 20,000, could be 28,000. All I know is it was a substantial amount of fans. UND could put about 15,000 or so in the Ralph. Maybe a few more from time to time. A big rivalry game against the Gophers I'll bump it up to 20,000 but a fair number are going to be Minnesota fans.
  19. You are aware that for an extremely long time, UND was clearly a bigger school.....so apparently....based on history... I should hope that UND has AT LEAST 20-40% more students than NDSU because for years UND had that kind of numbers advantage. Does that mean Nebraska-Omaha should be bigger than Nebraska. I mean...come on! Omaha is a bigger city! NDSU has lower tuition but it is roughly the same amount to go to NDSU as it is to UND. The difference in tuition won't stop anyone from going to UND if they want to. If you want to be an online school, maybe you guys and University of Phoenix can have an annual online National Championship of some sorts. Why you guys are so anal about student numbers is beyond me. It has very little to do with athletics.
  20. Good job filling the Xcel, if the Timberwolves can fill it I would hope two hockey schools from closeby could fill it for their conference tournement.
  21. We smack UND because most of their sports teams are not doing so hot right now. And cause they tried following us thinking moving to D1 is easy and really, it is pretty hard. People like you and DaveK don't help UND's cause. Numerous times on this board I have said UND has a lot to be proud of, a very good hockey program. A good place to go to get your degree, etc. Yet you feel the need to trash NDSU fans because we have the same mindset as almost every single D1 FCS/FBS has. 28 of the 245 members of FBS/FCS have hockey programs. That is a very low percentage. That is a reason that most people simply don't care. For the average American male sports fan, he won't be able to tell you who was even in the Frozen Four. He won't know who won your guys biggest day of the year! He won't know who won the FCS either, but we don't parade around bragging how everyone and their sister loves NDSU. UND feels the need to because hockey is all you guys got going for you right now. I dont care if it shows UND in a good light. All I said was seeing the numbers on football/basketball would be nice because those are far and away the two most popular sports in college athletics. U of M was our super bowl during the transition, now it isn't. At least not for the reasonable fans who would rather see a conference title than an FBS win. This thread is going nowhere because of your weird anti-coresport comparison. That is a comparison that has merit. The total attendence is very politically correct cause it counts every sport, but people generally would like to see the "big sport" comparisons. Such as, Notre Dame has X number of fans per year at football and basketball, I wonder how well they are doing in comparison to Auburn, Oh! Auburn is bringing in Y number. Thats not bad, but looks like Texas is leading the way.
  22. You are aware that a ton of UND's growth is online classes. If you look at students on campus NDSU has about 1500-2000 more students. I don't see why enrollment numbers even matter? Are you guys mad that NDSU is a bigger school or something? I'm sure Notre Dame and Duke don't care that they have fewer than NDSU, they know that they can rock NDSU's world is most sports. GeauxSioux, how bout we add another 15 games to NDSU's home football schedule and then lets look at that UND's big attendence boost comes from the hockey team, you get around 20 home games a year for that right? So......where do we go from here?
  23. I hope you are aware that rivalries go in cycles. Notre Dame just broke their streak of 9 losses against USC. Notre Dame still has a huge lead on USC as far as the series goes. Pretty sure NDSU football in the 80's was the first thing on people's minds as far as athletics go. Keep in mind bro, there are more high school football players in America than there are hockey players in the world if you look at the numbers. UND is one of 60 hockey teams in the US. They are going to get good players. Good players capable of playing in the NHL. NDSU competes for players against 230-some division 1 schools. From that stat alone, it is going to be pretty hard to recruit against Notre Dame, Texas, USC, Florida, 'Bama, etc., etc. That is an unfair analysis of which school is better. NDSU doesn't have the resources to compete against that. Tell you what, say that every D1 school in the nation north of Oklahoma had a hockey program for the last 70 years, do you honestly think UND would have 7 national championships? No. UND chose to be a hockey school and it has worked out good for them. NDSU does football. I thought you were smarter than that Darell. As to why NDSU didn't move D1 at the time? I don't know, maybe it had something to do with the fact that moving up to D1 takes a huge financial commitment. Why aren't you asking us why Appalachian St. isn't FBS now? I mean, they won 3 championships in a row, that means you have to move up right? You are a very simple minded individual. Sometimes the other side of the fence isn't as green as it looks. Thats why you stay in your lawn until your lawn is dying(D2 is dying).
  24. I don't see a problem then? If my school is making money on it I am happy. If you have a good FCS football team, generally speaking your team will make money. There are exceptions to any rule however. I never said hockey was less profitable, I'm saying it is comparable to FCS when you want to have a conversation with an average sports fan. They might pretend to be interested, and they might let you ramble on a bit about UND hockey or NDSU football, but at the end of the day, they want the conversation to be done so they can turn on espn to see how Alabama did against LSU. Another feeble attempt to get this thread back on topic! Hey guys! Has anyone heard anything more on what Faison/Taylor are considering and what not?
