Funny Dave, I guess all those games against the NAIA schools in South Dakota are pretty noteworthy.

No, I am saying I'd like NDSU to get home-and-homes with some of the big powers such as Montana, App State, Montana St. home-and-home. I don't want NDSU to lose a home game every other year (referring to NDSU/UND game every year) and lose the chance to watch the Montana's and App States of FCS. Not every year allows for 12 game seasons. I saw a list of when 12 games will be allowed, and it looked like once every 5 years or something along those lines? NDSU has made it work just fine without playing UND. In fact, NDSU football is a bigger event now than it was when UND was a part of the schedule. UND could really use the big local game on the schedule for fan interest, NDSU doesn't gain that same benefit. Maybe by the time this game would be played, UND wouldn't need the big "signature" type game on the schedule to generate fan interest anymore, but right now, I look at UND and can't help but think, "What have you done in FCS to merit NDSU signing a home-and-home with you?" I understand that rivalries might be an exception to that way of thinking, but I'd like UND to accomplish something before NDSU signs into an agreement to go on the road to play them. While this is certainly possible, and very likely that some years UND will have a better team, keep in mind that division II success doesn't always translate. UNC is terrible. They have been genuinely bad since they moved into the Big Sky. They were quite a force towards the end of their time in Division II. Anytime a school moves up, they risk falling flat on their face. It is completely possible, that UND falls on its face just like Northern Colorado. It is also completely possible, that UND becomes a middle of the road team, or UND becomes an exceptional team. I agree that the game should be played, if it isn't played I really won't care too much.

Right now, as people on here have even acknowledged, UND football is in a bit of a rut. NDSU's recent success has taken a lot of the state's focus away from UND. As conceited as it may sound, this almost gives UND some attention out of nowhere, and really doesn't give NDSU much of anything. The fact that they might have this scheduled, may encourage UND fans that have fallen by the wayside to start going to games again. That might be grasping for straws a bit, I am just having trouble explaining what I mean. So give credit to Faison for sticking to his guns and then giving in to the other AD? I like the every other year idea. Gives both teams an opportunity to get a wider variety of FBS and FCS OOC games. NDSU has agreements with Montana for a home-and-home, Montana St. as well I believe. I like the idea of playing some other teams like those. Playing UND every year takes away some of those opportunities, especially if we want to have an FCS cupcake, and an FBS game every year.

NDSU will make money in football regardless. UND gets a significant benefit in this, NDSU doesn't. I am happy they are most likely playing again, but that doesn't change the fact that this benefits one school a lot more. No, UND is not making much of a sacrifice. A home-game at UND is nothing like a home-game at NDSU. When you have soon-to-be 12,000-some thousand season ticket holders to answer to, they want home games. Because football games 10-20 years ago are very significant in deciding who would win. I don't think anyone is "deathly afraid" of losing a football game. It would be no fun to have the team lose, especially to an in-state rival. And yes, UND won a big majority of the games down the stretch in the series, hard not to win games when Babich is in charge! It should be fun to get the games going from time to time again.

I am guessing the reason that a whopping two videos are on the internet about it are because A.) NDSU has been doing very well at things and it is fun to jab at a rival. and B.) this whole nickname thing gives us another thing to laugh at. I imagine the videos would have been made regardless of the final score in that game.

The game when NDSU thumped UND by 20-some wasn't that fun either. Hahaha oh I'm sure. Have fun.

Marcus Williams said Sioux Suck. Get over it. He knows the fans eat that sort of stuff up. He also has a sister who plays ball up there. So....like I said, I think it will be interesting to see how the players respond to it. In the two basketball games played against one another, I think we all got let down. I thought both of those would be a lot more fun than they were.
-
I also wonder how many UND fans will get tickets? This isn't the 90's anymore when people can get tickets for this game if they want. Assuming NDSU season tickets are at 12,500 ( I have read this number I think on bisonville a few times) and another 3,800 student tickets. That is 16,300. Assuming that they will sell 19,000 tickets or thereabouts, that leaves 2,700 tickets. Then throw in that a lot of non-season ticket holding NDSU fans will want to go.... A possibility is that NDSU and UND maybe make an agreement to get the away-team ticket allotment to be higher than normal. This will be an exceptionally difficult ticket to get in Fargo.
-
I believe it holds 18,901 or something like that. But that doesn't mean everyone with a ticket will show up. For one reason or another, not everyone will make it. Sickness, weddings, kids' events, etc. If UND wins, Lakes will probably kill himself. I myself plan on falling on a sword if NDSU loses, cause thats honorable and stuff. I think it will be interesting to see how the players respond to it. I'm sure they are aware that the fanbases don't like each other and all the other hooplah, but they still probably won't quite have that animosity towards one another. Discuss.

The video makes fun of the wording of the measure. Also makes fun of UND so you might not find that funny. The stuff pertaining to the nickname vote though you will all probably laugh about. If someone can figure it out how to make it so you guys can bring the video up into a window in the thread, please do so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=x3SKoidyQYw

The fargodome doesn't hold 20,000. I imagine about 18,600 being there though. Also depends a bit on if the teams are good.

One could make an argument against that to a degree. People should be playing against schools that they are capable of competing with financially. Should Notre Dame, USC, Alabama, etc. be in the same competition as.....say...Idaho and Wyoming? In basketball, I think so, considering having one or two great players can get you to the promised land. Football, you need depth and a lot more money to compete than in basketball and the other sports. If it gets to the point where there are three divisions, I would like NDSU to find its way into that second tier. I'm sure UND folks would think the same way. In no world could NDSU/UND get to a position to compete with the huge powers. Just not possible.
-
And that really sucks for the logical fans who aren't married to some cartoon logo.
-
recruiting is hard enough the way it is. and with NDSU's venue it will be hard. SDSU and USD....who knows. All I know is that the Sioux name will destroy you guys's ability to field a team that could compete at all. To the nickname supporters, i'm rootin' for you guys! If you want to keep a name and destroy any UND chance of competing go right ahead. At this point, I do not care.
-
Because some people were probably making a big deal out of it.
-
I'll buy the HD camera that DaveK isn't impressed with.

UND is not a big enough deal for the NCAA to care at all. If say....the BCS conferences all said that they were not going to stand for something, the NCAA would sweat. But why would the NCAA, care about a new division 1 school who really isn't nationally significant? If UND dropped out of sports at this point, college hockey fans would notice. It'd be the same thing if NDSU threatened to leave the NCAA. If you think that it would be any skin off of their back to watch UND walk away, it wouldn't. In all honesty, it might even make them happy because the nuisance that the nickname stuff has caused at UND. DaveK, the state AG signed off on it, the state board of higher ed. signed off on it. Apparently, it your world, the honorable thing to do is to go back on your word. Say what you want about it being an unreasonable demand, but if you want to be part of the organization, you better just deal with it. And every other school with an indian mascot fixed the problem. Might just be time for you to accept that if UND keeps the name, the athletic programs you will be watching within 5-10 years are going to be exceptional average at best. If you get rid of the name(it is only a name, get over it.) UND athletics have a chance to be successful. You think it sucked being a UND fan while NDSU was on its run to the NC this year, wait until UND is no more significant to people in the state than Minot St. or U Mary.

100% agree to an extent, obviously you can't go around being called the Nazi's or anything...
-
Not til december But in all seriousness, I've heard a lot of people talking about all-black uniforms which is fine and all, but just wondering where they are hearing it from. Can't fault DaveK for being curious.
-
You could make an argument to make some changes to the NCAA, but destroy it? No thanks. No matter what big organization you get running the show, I think all of them are going to make efforts to be politically correct.
-
Real sad deal. Had a tough job trying to teach NFL players to not be stupid with their money during and after their career. Big part of the Bison family. The old man was real bummed when I texted him about it.
-
I normally disagree with Dave but I'm with him on this one haha. Source?

We pulled off a legit color-coordinated thing a whopping one time down here in Fargo that I can think of, and they encourage a yellow-out I think once a year. Very difficult to get the normal fans to take part. Students is easy...(well it is here anyways). To do it for an entire season would be extremely difficult to get everyone on board. It also requires the building to be full! (had to throw something rude and unnecessary in the post). carry on!

You made good points. Is the Sioux name worth risking? Do you want to play a game of roulette with the Big Sky...?
