  1. Heard Hossa still isn't moving in the hospital.
  2. I've said it before. Go for it. It wouldn't really hurt anyone. UND and NDSU aren't going to be hosting many NCAA or Conference tournements (that is what the sanction is on Miss. and SoCar). Playoff games earned by merit still are awarded. An example being Wofford (in South Carolina) has hosted playoff games since that policy was put in place.
  3. Not inciting anything. Have I before? Yes. This thread, and the case he pointed to, no. No purpose to incite people. Gave my reasons as to why I will be voting "No," and what the UND fans/alumni I deal with have been saying they want.
  4. ...sounds like you, Sir, when your post is countered with an honest opinion in which your points (some of which cannot be proven regardless) are countered with what the other person perceives to be a troll. You brought up no facts. My original post you decided to claim was "trollish" was just experiences I have had with many UND fans and alumni. According to Urban Dictionary..the definition of troll is as follows. "One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument." Just because the message someone brings to you is a message you are not a fan of, does not by any means make them a troll.
  5. I'm going to compare him to Lindros....Except Lindros had real injuries if I recall. Very different now than just a few years ago when everyone loved watching them.
  6. They showed Crosby's face about 10 times in the last 5-10 minutes. You could see the total shock and awe. Love it. I wouldn't mind seeing the Flyers take it in 4. Win Game 4 by.... 4-0. And then see the look on Crosby's face. I have lost a ton of respect for him in the past couple of years. It is at the point where I smile everytime I see him lose. He could lose to his Grandpa at checkers and I'd be pumped up.
  7. As a fellow Blue Jay (raised there), I can vouch that Jamestown doesn't have any talent. What was the name of the kid who left?
  8. Very possible, but the SBoHE and NDSU haven't every been very good friends anyway, I can't imagine* Carlson doing anything too terrible to NDSU in comparison to what has already went on here in Fargo. Besides, I think after people see what Big Al does to UND, Carlson gets voted out. *Just because I can't imagine it, doesn't mean it can't/wont happen.
  9. Wanting a team to fail doesn't mean you are a troll. I do not puff my chest about my team on here a whole lot. I comment on the issues I do understand, and ask questions about the ones I do not. I have a solid knowledge of UND athletics history, in fact probably better than most of my UND fan friends. The presence of a non-UND fan does not make them a troll. I started out as a troll, I've eased up on you guys quite a bit. Few friends? I don't know how you would have any idea how many friends I have, but thats nice. Lack of common sense? There are people on here who think sanctions won't impact UND. That sir, is a lack of common sense. Not pointing out the experiences that I have witnessed with friends/family (ND Residents of voting age) who are UND fans and what they think about the nickname. I'm going to guess you'll have to call 55-60% of voting North Dakotan's in June trolls then. At least I'm voting "No" for logical/comical reasons....and to make some relatives happy. You got PLENTY of UND fans voting yes because they actually think it is a good thing for UND athletics. At least you can discuss with this "troll" about the implications of what the Nickname-Crowd wants. You can't have a conversation with them about it, because you will be on two different pages. Why would it matter what Grand Forks county wants? People outside of Grand Forks go to UND games too I'd imagine sometimes. The NCAA is going after one school, and one only.
  10. It is a big sample size. North Dakota people are foolish and stubborn. Obviously people on here are going to be smarter than that, but how many members of SS.com are from North Dakota and will vote? The people I've dealt with are your typical people who watch the games on TV a good chunk of the time, go to a couple games a year if they can, etc. Not everyone is going to be like the people I've talked about it with, but remember, most people do not watch sports regularly enough to care to look into the details. To a lot of people it will be as simple as, "Should UND keep its name? Sure! Why not?!"
  11. Trolling is making an effort to upset you. I am just giving my opinion/experience in dealing with a lot of people who are Sioux fans who have told me their opinions. Hardly trolling there bro.
  12. I live pretty close to the 19th Ave N Stop and Go....does that count?
  13. I disagree. Many are doing it because it is fun to watch people you don't like suffer. I personally will be voting "No" because A. my way of sticking it to UND, B. my UND fan friends and family have all made it perfectly clear they'd rather be the Sioux than be something else, even after I have informed them of the possible implications of staying the Sioux. No Big Sky, no playoffs, etc. Typical UND fans are going to vote to save the name. So if the friends and family of mine still want me to vote for the name, I will do so. This has nothing to do with fearing UND's competition. Though watching a rival school fall on it's face would not be too bad either. NDSU fans win no matter what, either UND keeps their name and watches an athletic program fall apart, or UND loses a name and facebook explodes.
  14. I'm just going to go ahead and say this philly pitt series has been really sad yet enterteaining. Very easy to see pittsburgh is showing their frustration at how the first couple games went. Strange to see my Flyers being the more level-headed and composed team in this Game 3. Oh, and Crosby embarassed himself with his conduct in the first period fight(s) he started. He should lose sponsorship dollars from that.
  15. That gives you a reason to crack open a beer when you wake up. Nursing a hangover in a short time simply requires more alcohol.
  16. I still hate the Bison for changing their name from the Farmers way back when.....OUR HERITAGE IS RUINED I TELL YA!
  17. They wouldn't deny NDSU, Mary, or Minot State the right to host a playoff game because of another school's troubles. Maybe not allow the state to host NCAA tournements but its not like we do anyway. They tell NDSU that we can't host the Summit track tournement? I think we'll survive. They tell NDSU we can't host the Summit Basketball Tourney? Not like we are going to get it anyway.
  18. I believe I read somewhere that if a SoCar or Mississippi school makes the playoffs, they can host. The NCAA just doesn't allow the state itself to host tournements such as....a Baseball regional, or March Madness games. A football game would be fair game. EDIT: Just checked, Wofford is in South Carolina and has hosted playoff games. Go ahead, punish the state. Just means that we can't have NCAA tournements in North Dakota. Whoop-di-doo.
  19. Oh I'll remember there my words. I won't whine. And if I do, feel free to save this post of mine. That'll get me to knock it off. I don't THINK they'd do anything to insane but you never know right? Might have to eat my words at some point. All I know is I contacted Grant Shaft during the fall via email to and brought up some things I saw in the University System Budget that I was confused about. He asked for times when he could contact me. I told him anytime would work. He never contacted me. That was in September. I have given up on them.
  20. I don't think that would be admitting that our teams cannot compete with UND when the playing field is level and equal. I think it is admitting that we don't really care for UND and seeing UND's athletic programs fall down hard would be comical, wonderful, and benefit NDSU's all at the same time. If you had an opportunity to vote on something that would hurt NDSU's athletic program in a variety of ways, you'd probably do it. And also take into consideration that NDSU fans are the reason that you have this opportunity to take them down hard, it'd make it even more funny and sweet for you. Rather than being mad that some NDSU people are going to vote yes, and ride on them for doing so, you should be going after the "Sioux or Death" crowd who is the reason I, along with the rest of the state of North Dakota will have an opportunity to vote. It would be one thing if NDSU fans started the petition, or made a savethefightingsioux.com so we could stomp out a competitor in the region, but that is simply not the case. Look at the ridiculous fans you have who started the nonsense of fighting to get this on the ballet before you blame the people who get an opportunity to vote on it. NDSU has been taking it on the chin with funding for some time. I think we'll survive...
  21. Is it not true Engelstad at very least made some threats to the administration regarding a future changing of the nickname? There is a webpage on UND's site that has a timeline of the nickname controversy. It has been quite some time that people have known the nickname would be an issue at some point. I put 95% of the blame of all of us on UND's fans, the school, and Mr. Engelstad. I put 5% on Carlson. Without Carlson, this little fight would probably still be going, probably just someone else leading the charge.
  22. I'm kinda with Dan on this one. If UND hockeyfans/grads/whathaveyou had taken it on the chin and quit whining, UND wouldn't have been in this position because Al would not have seen an opportunity to grab some power. All of this trouble over some dumb cartoon and "honored, strong, sacred" nickname. Real sad deal. Too late. UND had its chances to get rid of this mess years ago. Because of this, I am going against my natural instinct to vote against government control, but UND gave me no reason to believe that they could control themselves. For years, they let Ralph Engelstad call the shots. What is to say that another exceptionally wealthy booster won't just hold the school hostage again? Vote yes to save the "Fighting Sioux," because within 5-10 years, it won't be an issue because no one will care about a shell of a division 1 program anymore.
  23. I was outside the stadium waiting for a friend to come pick me up and there was a surprising number of UND fans there from what I could tell. It was a great day for baseball, so with a name in town that people knew, quite a few made the trip to Newman. I'd be bummed to get swept but at least it looks like the games were all pretty competitive.
  24. Your D is not a hell of a defense...your front seven appears to be pretty dang good though. Remember the back four. UND got torched through the sky. Fix that and then you can brag up the D. Might be a question for a different thread but I'll ask it anyways...what is UND's current outlook in the secondary? Do you guys have reasons to be optomistic or pessimistic or whats the scoop there? Thats the guy from the Lennon Administration right? Brings up bad memories for me as a Bison fan.
