  1. I think the procedural transparency and inclusiveness required to date have been achieved. It is time for the administration and the committee to show some leadership and decisiveness and bring the process to a speedy resolution. Not that that is likely to actually happen.
  2. Well when you can't attack the message attack the messenger.
  3. This thing really needs to end. I am in the no name/Nodak camp but I recognize that Roughriders is the name option that most people could rally behind once established. If it was mine to do I would put it to a vote between no name and Roughriders and the vote would be in mid August. The students have something called the internet. The divisiveness which becomes more shrill by the hour (as observed on this board) needs to end.
  4. Oh for crying out loud, he could make an info release to all the other sports info directors if he has not already done so. Might take three minutes of his time.
  5. I agree, which is why I think its a good option circumventing having to take on an identity with which we have no tradition.
  6. And BTW, I don't see how (anything) Hawks can be considered at all with Red Hawks in our conference in our primary sport.
  7. IMO this is the best of the remaining options. Why do we care how someone from Glendive or Perham uses it? I am sure that Oklahomans once thought Sooners was "unimaginative", but it is a distinctive name for them now.
  8. Nodaks is IMO a good option for those of us that don't feel a pressing need to take on a new identity. It would be inclusive of anyone from ND or who attended UND. Its is comparable to Sooners for UO which is unique to that university and readily identifiable.
  9. I am also a liberal on most (but not all) issues, particularly issues that I have some degree of passion for. No apologies.....none.
  10. I had also forgotten UNA....
  11. The Wyoming game will be played at elevation 7000 feet. Who the starting defensive players are may not be much more than a formality as a steady rotation of players may very well be needed.
  12. The UND offense finally gelled at the end of last season and I think in large part the improvement was due to the offensive line finally having enough game time under their belts to develop into a cohesive unit, allowing Garman to gash UNA and UNC. With the OL coming back mostly intact I do not see the offensive regressing to the level of ineffectiveness often shown earlier in the 2014 season. One caveat to that optimistic outlook might be that the RB's need to be able to play in synch with the OL in the manner that Garman did in those last two games.
  13. I also could get on board with Roughriders as long as it never is shortened formally or informally to "ridas". Sounds to much like urban backstreet slang.
  14. Can't you do better than that?
  15. Bison fans should be encouraged to post negative comments about UND football, the more incendiary the comments the better. We select the most disparaging post one week before the game and hand it to Bubba recommending it be posted in the locker room.
  16. Based on what I see, it was he that initiated physical contact.
  17. I was unaware that the medical school was located near a dam. I'll have to drive by the English Coulee next time I am in Grand Forks to see what it looks like now. Its been a long time since I've been on campus.

    Wyoming first up

Where was he coaching for the first loss?
  19. title should read alumni, not alumini, and I call myself a grammar Nazi.
  20. Years ago we used to get together for the annual football game at the sportsbar in Tea. We should put something together for this year's game. I have called the UND alumni assoc. and left a message about getting a watch party going but have not yet received a response. I am wondering if anyone would want to help coordinate such an event, or if something is already in the works. This message is for both UND and NDSU alumni. I'll probably post on Bisonville too. Respond here or email: trich57069@yahoo.com
  21. Since we are using Wikipedia today: "Modern automated cotton gins use multiple powered cleaning cylinders and saws, and offer far higher productivity than their hand powered forebears."
  22. Actually, slavery held America back. Had the institution of slavery been dissolved fifty years earlier than it actually was ended, the technological advancement that was the cotton gin would have also have been made about fifty years earlier. You also ignore the fact that most of the industrial output in the country in the 1800's was in the North. Linking social problems to policies enacted in the 1960's in more than a speculative manner would be highly problematic.
  23. One way forward that has already been suggested is to have no name officially with an informal secondary name in use such as thundering herd is for ndsu. I think it highly unlikely that the ncaa five years from now is going to determine that simply being north dakota is unacceptable if they do not object to no name now, especially with the precedence already set of already having gone without a name for the past three years. But Roughriders or Nodaks could be an informal name ready to be elevated to official sanction (as outlined by dam straight) if needed.
  24. That is a great post.
  25. I have no idea how you determined I did not like the FS name from my post.
