  1. I'd bet big money (not that I have any) that has to do with breaking ground on the IPF, in fact I would be shocked if it wasn't related to that.
  2. Almost a week later and still no "exciting" announcement from the NCHC? I was really hoping they were announcing their own network or that all games would be televised. But I think yo guys are right, it's going to be something disappointing like new wall paper in the main office.
  3. I noticed that the NCHC posted this on FaceBook, anybody know what it could be? A new tv deal? New additions? "Lots of exciting things happen at the office...can't share just yet but I think you all will be pleased! :-)"
  4. Why couldn't UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, UM, MSU, UI, ISU, and possibly a few others form an FBS conference and grow together?
  5. Any idea how much it would cost for the Alerus to build a new indoor football field attached to the building? They could renovate the existing field and use it for something else, possibly a fitness and recreation center for the community. I realize that something like that is not likely to happen anytime soon if at all.
  6. Given the huge divide between the haves and have nots, schools like UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, Montana, and MSU should seriously consider creating a new conference that puts an emphasis on like minded state flagship institutions. Maybe throw Denver, Omaha, and a couple others an invite create a regional league that has real fan interest in the upper mid-west. It's not likely that any of these schools will ever be courted by a prominent conference due to small media market sizes, but that doesn't mean we couldn't create rivalries that would make most people around these parts forget about FBS and get excited about FCS.
  7. BC wouldn't be the only member, Nebraska currently isn't a member of the AAU (although they were when they received an invite). Not saying they will go after the BC, but Delany seems to have his eyes set on large media markets and Boston has to be somewhere on his radar.
  8. The best part is that it would be compliments of the Big 10
  9. Interesting speculation about the Big 10 possibly going after Boston College in the event they expand to 16 teams. I wonder if Notre Dame would reconsider their affiliation with Hockey East in the event that BC ends up playing their hockey in the BTHC? for that matter, I wonder if BU would be willing to leave a BC-less Big East for a super conference?
  10. Does anybody know what BU's Ben Rosen tweeted after the game last night? The Herald made mention of it but I couldn't find it on Twitter.
  11. I think the two biggest draw backs of the Alerus is that it it can't grow to meet the needs of the university, and that it just doesn't feel like the home of UND football. I can't fathom why the people of GF would build a $100 million plus facility that cannot be expanded? It boggles the mind as to why they would give such a nice facility such a short life expectancy. The building and the field also feel very alien and not at all like the home of UND football. Look at the field for crying out loud, you have North Dakota in both end zones (which is nice), then two enormous "Alerus" logos, and nothing at mid-field to indicate that this is UND's home. With that said, I do like the addition of the two Big Sky logos. I wish they would have built a facility on par with the Fargo Dome,, or at least with the possibility of eventually being on par.
  12. I wish we could could afford someone like Bobby Petrino (University of Arkansas), you know they're regretting the decision to sack him.
  13. Don't get too excited, he probably runs a chain of "glory holes".
  14. Surely what these players did is also a violation of the "student code of conduct". Has anybody heard of any action being taken by the Dean of Students Office (DOS) ? I know for fact at UND when an athlete violates the student code they are held accountable by the DOS as would any other student accused of a violation.
  15. We're not likely to ever know, seeing as how keen NDSU is to look into the matter and take action.
  16. “They were never informed about the potential fall out (sic) or criminal charges by the company,” Bohl wrote. So Bohl's justification for not suspending his players is that no one told them that identity theft and election fraud was wrong??? I'm not trying to beat up on NDSU, but if UND was accused of this I would be embarrassed if the institution took no disciplinary action. No accountability down South.
  17. Maybe we should be the UND "Alerus", that way those two gi-normous "Alerus Center" logos could serve as our school's mid-field logo. Seriously though, those two logos should have been scaled down considerably, and at least an interlocking ND should be at midfield. That would go a long way in making the Alerus feel more like home.
  18. I would think that the Summit would go after Denver or Seattle before Mary.
  19. Brother, I would love to make up the difference. Again, I am very grateful for the donation and the impact it will eventually have on UND as well as students. I guess the point I was trying to make is that I had anticipated that Mr. Hamm and his company might have donated in the $20-$30 million range, seeing as he is receiving naming rights to the school as well as roughly 50 new engineers for his oil fields per year. It was a big announcement and I am excited about the prospects this has for not only UND but the state of North Dakota. No need for FACEPALMS.
  20. Hey take it easy man, I never said it wasn't a major announcement. Just that I thought it would have been a larger donation, given the industry and the intention that it would be used to create 50 new engineers per year. $14 million is a lot of money, but when you factor in the cost of building/expanding facilities, hiring additional faculty, and adding scholarships, $14 million gets swallowed real quick. UND is lucky to have this donation, I just thought it would have been in the $20- $30 million range, that's all. No need to get into a twist over it.
  21. I was expecting a more substantial announcement than this. $14 million is nice and much appreciated, but how far will it really stretch in terms of new facilities, research, scholarships, and new faculty lines? Not trying to be ungrateful, just realistic.
  22. I would bet big money that you're right. The Herald said that government officials and industrial executives will be present during the announcement, I couldn't imagine what else it could be.
  23. The production value on this game is low. Looks like it's being shot with a 1980's camcorder. Still, it's nice to be able to see some live footage!
  24. If I were Omaha, I would seriously consider changing the name to Nebraska State or something along those lines.
  25. Fargo State Clown College, "Kicking ass and Faking names"!
