  1. So NDSU players break the law and it is somehow apart of UND's devious plot to undermine Bison football and rule the FCS? Where do they get this stuff from? Odds are someone with a law degree from the state of North Dakota went to school at UND, we have the only law school in the state.
  2. If those were eight UND hockey players (thank God it's not!) you can bet Hakstol would have suspended them regardless of the disadvantage to the program. Bohl should have done the right thing and temporarily suspended these players until they could find out what's going on. If you look around the the BCS, there are a lot of teams that would have done the right thing and suspended the players regardless of the consequences to the season.
  3. I definitely want one! Getting people to email the Sioux Shop at the REA is probably our best bet to get these on the market. The Sioux shop sees the most traffic of die hard fans looking for merchandise and could better justify buying 700 of them. Plus, I always try to buy my gear from them because the proceeds go to UND athletics, so it's like getting some sweet new gear and making a donation all at the same time!
  4. Does anybody have a picture of Thunder they could post? I've heard a lot about him but have never seen him.
  5. According to the promo, every athletic team will be using this facility (with exception of hockey, I would imagine) as well as students studying in the sports medicine program. So it's not just a indoor practice facility it's also a classroom.
  6. The parking ramp we have now has parking for around 278 vehicles. I'm assuming the one they are proposing to build across the street would be similar in size and capacity. We would still need additional parking and an ideal place for a tailgate party.
  7. Seems like one the biggest obstacles (other than funding) for building an on campus football stadium is parking. The new parking garage across the street is big, but not big enough for 25,000 plus people. I'm guessing we would have to use the med school parking lot as well as the REA if this were to happen. I could be wrong but it looks as though the current parking lot by the Memorial will be turned into (hypothetically) a soccer field/ track.
  8. There is more than enough room for it and the location is ideal. Wouldn't mind seeing some indoor tennis courts as well.
  9. The new IPF looks very similar to the one in the master plan. Looks like it could have the potential for an entrance of some sort to be built into the retractible roof stadium. I wish we were still considering the outdoor horse shoe. http://grandforkslife.blogspot.com/2007/12/und-is-planning-for-future.html
  10. I wonder if the two could somehow connect? I hope this announcement gets the alumni excited and eager to make a run towards financing a new stadium (eventually)!
  11. That's right, they were selling the seats out of the old REA online this summer.
  12. Did anybody else notice that the placement of the IPF leaves plenty of room for memorial stadium? Could a new football stadium be next on the athletic facilities "to do list"?
  13. I like how they will be incorporating the sports medicine into this new facility, that should attract more students to the program. Surely $9 million isn't enough to build this though? Do they have additional donors? Any idea when ground will be broken on it? Very exciting news! I'm sure our neighbors down south aren't happy about this.
  14. This is going to be huge for recruitment! All we need is a new 25,000 plus stadium and our facilities will be up to par with the best of D1!
  15. I bet it's the IPF! Now that I've just said that it will probably be something lame like an extra game on Roots
  16. 41 Bulldogs and 9 Huskies, too many, that's exactly why we should choose something non one else is using. We were one of a handful schools with a unique nickname that no one else was using, we have the opportunity to once again carry that distinction into a new era and it should be a priority. I don't hate the name Norse, I just think we can do better, especially with names like Rough Riders and Outlaws up for possible consideration.
  17. Doesn't the City not UND receive the money from the Alerus naming rights? I'm not sure.
  18. Would the money go to UND or to the City of Grand Forks?
  19. What about the University of North Dakota Fighting Irish? If were going to share an interlocking ND logo with Notre Dame, why not a nickname?
  20. What is the possible significance of Altru logos? IPFC funding?
  21. Two schools are currently using the name Norse, 12 are using the Vikings including one in our new conference. We should steer clear of that name, it's not original enough.
  22. I thought the exact same thing, I don't think Nokota will work as a nickname or logo, but it could make for a great costumed mascot roaming the stands and tailgating areas.
  23. I could live with the nickname Outlaws, I hope we could get more than 11,000 people to the game singing it
  24. There are currently 2 schools using the nickname Norse and 7 using the name Cavaliers ( it's not the Calvary but extremely similar). No one is using Rough Riders or Outlaws at this present time.
