I understand sales of pitchforks and torches have SKYROCKETED in Fargo since Saturday c'mon Hammersmith - even you have to admit it's really embarassing what's going on over there right now...'su has always put so much emphasis on the STUDENT/Athlete. They are kids supposedly getting an education while playing sports on the side - not professional athletes who should be run out of town if they don't perform to your ridiculously high expectations.

A great class for Sioux football - thanks for all the memories! You made our first year in the transition a success and did it with performance and class worthy of UND's football tradition. Just keeping it local...a lot of suburban housing developments around the Twin Cities for people "trying to escape the inner-city" got sold a HUGE bill of goods with mortgages beyond their means based on future "speculation" that are now holding houses worth 1/3 of what they were supposed to be worth? That's PURELY the greed of the banks and mortage companies that were willing to throw the dice on that deal anyway! Think about Vegas rules...gamblers lose 95% of the time when the house gives them a pass. Just saying...

You guys traveled the same road too...and TALKED about being the greatest team EVER non-eligible for the FCS playoffs or the postseason. NOW that you have to chance to PROVE IT! by actually being PLAYOFF ELIGIBLE after those 5 long years of transition. You're tanking!...just like you tanked TALKING A BIG GAME in D2 while you couldn't produce and HAD to "move on" to make your point. (So UND didn't keep beating you!) I'll give you an example...my neighbor and his son were at the game (8 years old) and has had a UND hockey jersey since he was born. His only association with "Fighting Sioux" has been as a hockey fan - and remember he's only 8 years old - and thought that "funny painted guy" was just a cartoon character. His eyes were as wide as saucers watching the drum ceremony and the honor song. He had no idea what was going on and asked his dad..."is that what a Sioux really is?" THAT was the opportunty for education! Someone who doesn't have a clue but gets a spark of interest that inspires him to look more into the history and culture of the name of a college hockey team. Now he's actually interested in the "REAL" sioux and is reading books...is that a bad thing? I'm sure you'll scream "too little too late" but if your only intention is stomping on the grave of the Fighting Sioux nickname so you can claim some sort of "Victory for your people!" that will only result in your history, and future interest in it, taking a number on the "why should we care about your (insert name and ethnic complaint here!) History of the United States. Native Americans haven't been the only ethnic group discriminated against but we're all here and it's 2008 - we need to move on!

A - Because they're the Herald - anti-nickname all along - not a huge suprise! B - Having watched every newscast tonight...most were balanced with the exception of FoxNews - who decided to only portray the protesters side. They report - YOU decide C - The protest was a legitimate news angle to the story. REA payed the expenses for the supporters for this event, which actually was a contrived media event if you're honest. The protesters (as few as they were) actually showed up and waved their stupid signs around in the rain, for awhile, although it apparently got a little chilly for some and they bailed out early. THE BOTTOM LINE...this is ALL getting too stupid and moronic and UND needs to move on...no one is going to break into your house and confiscate your Sioux jerseys...wear them until they disintegrate! The NCAA agreement says they can't jackhammer out the marble logos from the floor of the REA because it's too expensive - so it will always be there as a testament to our history - but MOVE ON! We need to latch on to a new UNIQUE name like Norkotas and keep screaming "home of the...SIOUX!!!" at the end of the national anthem! Then "THEY" can't bitch and we'll have a new identity that has links to the past with hopes for a idiot/PC free future! Just my opinion...
