all I want to see from this game is early on where Landry hits Bamba on a deep pattern that goes for a 60 yard TD with Ish blowing by the Tech secondary and for a brief, shining second...the TT radio and tv guys go..."WHOA! What was that? Who are these ND guys?"...a little momentary nervousness! (sweet!) Sure we'll get roasted probably 70-7 but if we made a mark - it would be SO SWEET!! Hopefully Coach Muss has that in the gameplan...what do we have to lose by putting all our cards on the table early? (plus we're walking away with a huge check so this is really a win/win situation for us!)

Dude - here's a crazy thought you may not be familiar with. It's called democracy - in other words - the PEOPLE decide. If 2/3rd's of the Spirit Lake people "approve" the name, it should be a done deal. Ron His Horse is Thunder is obviously very afraid of a similar vote on his reservation because AGAIN, DEMOCRACY would likely prevail but we understand this isn't how you want things to go...it's not up to Mr. Ron or YOU - but to BLAME democracy for the possible OUSTER of the current chairman based on his personal opposition to something most of the people he represents don't mind?? That's not a leader...that's someone who's looking to make his own mark at his own peoples' expense. Congrats to BSU - To coach Serratore and the rest of the Beavers...who've proven they can be the big fish in a little pond. The challenge now is swim with the big fish in THE big pond but I think it's great you've gotten that chance with a shiny new arena going up. I could give 2 s*hits about UNO's prospects in this league but if that's what it took to bring the Beavers into the league - fine - guess we'll see how Blaiser can elevate a perennial 6th place finisher in the CCHA Best o'luck Dean!!

Thanks for the insight Regardless if it's a "copyright", "trademark", or "tradestyle" - SOMEONE owns the Brien-Sioux head logo and I dont' think it's UND?

I might be wrong here but I don't believe UND holds the actual copyright on the current Ben Brien designed-indian head logo - REA does! UND purchased the rights from Brien and it eventually came under the title of Fighting Sioux Sports Properties (an REA entity) when REA was calling most of the shots for UND athletics...also known as the "while Roger slept" years...that would mean even if UND drops the name, REA can still use (and market) the logo because they're not UND, they're a private entity.

and IF the SBoHE votes to change the nickname tomorrow? It would be a mercy-killing instead of a long drawn-out execution! The politicians would have to know what's at stake....and if they do that's fine with me!

I miss GrahamKracker NOT! Remember the "website" that popped up a few years ago FULL of anti-indian racist messages that turned out to be TOTALLY FABRICATED? (BUSTED by the 'photo properties' of the images of supposed "members" that turned out to be Google images or other public photos of various Native American authors/professors/etc...) So what's next? If the pro-nickname vote prevails I think the only thing they can do is another "Tawanna Brawley" incident - ie faking a real physical racist assault. For you under 30 - google it - it's a fascinating read and PROBABLY what the anti-nickname extremists are ready to turn too since they had no problem throwing the "P.N." handgrenade now when this had NEVER come up in the entire history of the nickname controversey...and it is a HUGE insult to the Engelstad family because they've done SO MUCH MORE philanthropic work than just build a huge hockey arena for UND. I'm just going to bring up the latest example that I had the privelege to be a part of and then I'm out but THIS really needs to be noted... The Engelstad Family Foundation donated $30,000 to Northern Valley Honor Flight - an effort to fly World War II veterans to Washington, DC to visit the WW II Memorial built in their honor ...yes, $30,000!! I can tell you - no other single donor even came CLOSE to this level and the Engelstad Foundation never got OR asked for any public thanks for this but it did enable us to pull off a fantastic trip for these guys who really deserved it so I'm taking this small opportunity to thank them here because I know for a fact these old guys had a WONDERFUL time on this trip thanks in large part to the Engelstad' families generosity. THANK YOU!
